I have found my profession to be a perfect blend of art and science.Further, practicing orthodontics allows me to bring out peoples inner and hidden beauty and teach them how to keep that sparkling smile healthy for the rest of their lives.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Illinois University and then received my Doctorate of Medical Dentistry at the University of Kentucky. After, I attended the University of Tennessee to complete my Master of Science in Orthodontics degree.

I consider every minute of continuing education to be vital for my patients and myself. Staying current with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies within my field allows me to improve treatment efficiency and provide higher quality results for each person I treat.

Through my career-long commitment to staying on the cutting edge of orthodontics, I have been able to implement the most proven and advanced treatments to my patients. For instance, I was at the forefront of providing patients the benefits of SureSmile, and I embraced the use of i-CAT diagnosis technology very early on. In addition to these advanced treatments, I also offer my patients the cutting edge self-ligating Damon System brackets, and I have worked very hard to become an Invisalign Elite Provider.

I believe strongly in doing work that has life-long effects, and I place the utmost value on the lasting relationships I have formed with my patients over the years. I have been a practicing orthodontist for over 25 years, and I can say that watching a patients positive development and transformation over time is one of the most rewarding parts of the profession. As your orthodontist, I am dedicated to being as gentle, compassionate, and efficient as I can during your orthodontic journey.

I approach each patient with an eye to detail. I view orthodontics as a fine-tuned science that is practiced by medical professionals who also have an artists touch. I improve smiles both visibly and behind the scenes. My artistic talents aid my work as much as my scientifically technical skills do. I am a firm believer in giving back to my community. I founded the Southern Illinois chapter of Smile for a Lifetime. It appealed to me because it is a nonprofit organization that provides orthodontic treatment to patients who would otherwise not be able to receive orthodontic care. I also support others in their pursuit of higher education by offering academic scholarships to two Southern Illinois students each year. I am a sponsor of the Rend Lake College Theater as well.

Further,I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). The ABO is the only organization for the specialty of orthodontics that is recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Currently, only 25% of the nations orthodontists are Board Certified. This is a recognition that reflects my passion and commitment to providing my patients nothing but the most rewarding orthodontic care available.

I am currently settled down in Marion, IL, where I grew up, and I am happy to call this place home. My wife, Deidre, and I have four children: Mason, Kate, Alec, and Tessa. We also have three dogs and one cat that round out our busy household.

The Bessie Childers Scholarship Dr. Childers started this award to recognize the importance of education while financially assisting an outstanding student. The scholarship was established in 2002 in honor of Dr. Childers grandmother, a school teacher.

She resides in Herrin with her husband, Clinton, and their children, Kayla and Chase, and their Yorkie-poo, Brownie. She loves shopping with her daughter and watching her son play sports. She also enjoys traveling, reading, decorating, and spending time with family and friends.

She likes meeting new people every day and helping Dr. Childers provide a fun and caring atmosphere for his patients. Most of all, she loves helping people achieve the fabulous smile they want and deserve.

Sherry is originally from St. Louis but she has lived in Herrin for many, many years. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist and received that degree from SIU-C. She has been in the Ortho/Dental field in Southern Illinois for over 35 years. In March of 2009 she joined the Childers team as a Treatment Coordinator.

Sherry is married to Bill and they have two wonderful boys, Nicholas and Brendan. Their only child that is still home full time now is their dog, Buttons. Sherry loves fun times with family and friends, singing in the OLMC choir and playing in the handbell choir.

She started as an orthodontic assistant, took over as Records Coordinator two years later, and became a Treatment Coordinator in 2012. She gets to know all of the observation patients who are seen every six months, until they are ready to begin treatment.

Stephanie grew up in Mulkeytown, where she lives with her husband, Aaron, and their kids, Maddy, Michaela, and Wyatt. Her brother, Davie, also lives with them. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening.

Denice has over twenty years of experience at Childers Orthodontics. Denice has worked for Dr. Childers since 1993 and is a certified Dental Assistant and a Certified Orthodontic Assistant. She moved from Southern Illinois in 1994, but returned the next year to continue working with Dr. Childers and marry her husband, Michael. Denice and Michael have three children. Grace, 16 months later Josie, and ten years later, Jake. They have 2 dogs, CeCe and Bella, and an adopted stray cat they call Kitty Kitty.

Denices favorite thing about working with Dr. Childers and his awesome team is their sincerity to offer the best experience from the moment a patient walks into the office. Denice truly believes there is NO other office in the world that can compare. She loves to watch orthodontics change a persons self-esteem.

Misty has worked for Dr. Childers since 1999. She graduated from John A. Logan College in 1999 and was fortunate to find her dream job upon graduation. She is a Certified Orthodontic Assistant. Working in the Orthodontic field is something Misty knew she wanted to do ever since she had her braces in high school.

Misty was born and raised for, the most part, in Southern Illinois. She lives in Benton with her husband Justin and their two sons. They have a close-knit family and really enjoy spending time together. They love to travel. Most summers you will find them all at the park watching the boys play baseball.

She and her husband, Randy, live in Benton. They enjoy traveling, especially to visit their three children and three grandchildren. Melissa lives in Ft. Myers Florida and has two children. Cody and Kaylee. Zach lives in Kansas City, Mo., with his daughter, Sophia. Jennifer, also lives in Kansas City.

Jeanna started working for the Childers team in 2008. She started as a clinical assistant and is now the Records Coordinator. Jeanna graduated from John A Logan and is a certified Orthodontic Assistant.

Jeanna was born Pinckneyville and now lives in Herrin with her husband Aaron. Jeanna and Aaron have 3 children Landon, Emma, and Regan. She also has a sweet little dog named Lucy. She stays very busy cheering on her kids with at all their events, including golf, volleyball, basketball, and softball. GO TIGERS! In her spare time she enjoys shopping, reading, and spending time with her family.

Jeanna says the best part of her job is seeing the patients personalities change because of the confidence their new smile gives them. She also loves her co-workers and that it is okay for her to act silly at work.

Amber was born and raised in Marion and she married her high school sweetheart, Aaron. Her mother-in-law was even her kindergarten teacher! Amber and Aaron have three children: Taylor, Hayley, and Logan. They also have a dog named Cooper. Amber enjoys watching her childrens sporting events, cooking, and traveling with her family.

Savannah has worked as an assistant for Dr. Childers since 2012. She graduated from John A Logan College in 2010. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist as well as a Certified Dental Assistant. Working in the dental field has always been her goal, although she never thought she would fall in love with orthodontics the way she has.

Savannah grew up in West Frankfort and now lives in Herrin with her husband, Cody. They enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and attending church. Spending time with family is also very important to Savannah; together she and Cody have eleven nieces and nephews. There is never a dull moment with all of those kids around!

Working with patients of all ages and seeing the transformations are some of Savannahs favorite things about her job. She loves looking at the before and after pictures and seeing the great results that Dr. Childers provides for every patient.

Kelsea has been a part of the Childers Orthodontics team since March of 2015. She worksas a lab technician and specializes in making the retainers that patients need in order tomaintain their beautiful smiles.

Amanda joined Childers Orthodontics in 2017 as a Scheduling Coordinator. Although she has never worked in the dental field, she has previously been a patient of Dr. Childers with both Phase I and Phase II treatments.

Amanda recently moved back to Southern Illinois after living in Charlotte, NC where she was a flight attendant with American Airlines. She loved traveling and seeing the world, but she was ready to be back home with her family and friends. She now lives in West Frankfort with her significant other Alec, and their two pets Frannie and Frank.

What she enjoys most about working at Dr. Childers office is seeing the familiar faces from the area, especially those from her hometown. She loves seeing the before and after pictures. Heather said, The staff is funny, caring and have made my experience here very enjoyable! I hope to be here many years!

Breeze has wanted to work in the dental field since middle school. She completed the Dental Assisting program in North Carolina in 2018. Breeze starting working for Dr. Childers in August 2019 as a Records Coordinator and now works as a clinical assistant. She resides in Benton with her husband Marco and her sons Apollo and Lochlan. Breeze enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Phoebe. Breeze enjoys being outdoors.
