Despite being uncomfortable, dry mouth alone is not a severe issue as long as it is not persistent. If it is, it can lead to various long-term health issues, ranging from irritating to dangerous. Someone who suffers from chronic dry mouth will likely experience mouth sores, splits at the corners of the mouth, cracked lips, increased plaque buildup & a greater risk of tooth decay & gum disease. You might even start to have nutrition issues, because the lack of saliva makes it more difficult to break down food when you eat.

Even if your dry mouth does not seem to be persistent, it is important to stay on top of treating it. The good news is that treatment is simple for most cases of dry mouth. First, make sure you stay hydrated by sipping on water throughout the day. For your dental & overall health, you should drink lots of water anyway! Dehydration, which dry mouth can be a sign of, is a serious health risk.

Other simple things you can do to treat dry mouth include chewing sugarless gum & limiting the salt, sugar & caffeinated drinks in your diet. Some people might recommend sucking on an ice cube or sugarless hard candy, but this can actually damage your teeth, so dont do it! You can also purchase nonprescription saliva substitutes over the counter to reduce your current issues.

If you use tobacco or drink alcohol, cut back on those or find a way to quit. Even if you dont think smoking or drinking is the root cause, those activities can irritate a dry mouth, so you should limit or stop them entirely. Plus, theyre just bad for you!

The best treatment for dry mouth always depends on the specific cause, so if home remedies or over-the-counter solutions dont prevent your dry mouth, it can indicate a more serious underlying health issue. In serious cases it is best to visit a physician or dentist who can work with you to figure out the root cause of your dry mouth & help you treat it.

I hadn't been to the dentist in a very long time due to many horrible experiences but had to come in the other day. The staff was very nice and friendly which eased my worries. They got me set up with medicine and another appointment for the main issue quickly and did a good job.

This office was really beautiful just walking into and it's almost like a relaxing cabin feel not like most Drs offices. The staff is very friendly and appointments are easy to obtain. It is affordable with or with out insurance, I had to have two wisdom teeth removed and the Dentist was so sweet and very comforting through out and really listened to me the whole time and made sure I was as comfortable as some one can be when getting a tooth pulled. You can tell he really does genuinely care about his patients. Over all a good experience for what it was.

Dr. Parkin took the absolute best care when I needed a broken tooth fixed. I am terrified of the dentist but coming here and being treated so well by EVERYONE (just one hiccup I guess you could say) I am in no pain after my procedure today. Dr. Parkin takes such good care and actually listens makes the best plan for your care. I am so happy I found a FANTASTIC dentist finally. They will also do whatever they can to help work with your finances and flexibility so you go home not only with a smile on your face but knowing you have a plan . Thank you for taking such good care of me and I'm looking forward to going back! Never thought I would say that! haha Would recommend to anyone and everyone. The whole staff is amazing, it really is like a family.

All they care about is getting money. Back 6 months ago I spent over 2 hours getting my teeth clean, cost me 140 dollars with insurance. Teeth felt dirty when I left. Went back a week ish later for a cavity to be filled. Denoting asked when I was getting a cleaning because my teeth needed it. I said I already did and she said oh yeah. They cut out my permanent retainer I had have for 19 years to get to the cavity. As it's getting cut out I am told that insurance should cover the cost of a new one but they would not charge me. Then surprise someone else is sent in to tell me that if I want it replaced that it's 150 dollars or I can just go with out it. As someone who had braces 9 years, my pallet broke and jaw surgery I do not want my teeth moving so I paid the money. The retainer fell out three weeks later and they replaced it again, half of it broke off and is sticking in to my gums now and I honestly do not trust them to touch my mouth. I'm paying another 150 to have someone else fix it. Everyone was nice but I do not trust them and would not go back.

I've been going here for the past 2 years and the employees are all so friendly! There has been an occasion where I did not have the greatest tone of voice and the staff continued forwards with the best attitude ever. I love this dentist office so much more than my previous office.

I just had one of my best cleanings ever. Jessica was very gentle and caring. She listened to some concerns I had and did her best to get them addressed during my visit. I have been going here for almost 2 yrs, and I believe the dentist and hygienist care for the clients and they sure do a great job working to keep my mouth healthy.

Fantastic group of people. Every single person who works there is polite, professional, and charming. I have not been to the dentist in, now that I think about it, almost 20 years, whilst still in my parent's custody. And the lobby wreaked heavily of medicine. Back then, the hygienist would tap-tap on your teeth, take x-rays, then send the dentist. The dentist made small talk with your mom. Then he turned to you, "Tiger, go take a toy out of the toy box." And that was a checkup. CMDC's lobby smells like flowers. They have all these gadgets and gismos. Lasers and sprayers and polishers that emit such sounds as, "Pew-pew-pew." "BRRrraaahhalala" What was the other one? Oh yeah, my favorite. It was: "How are you?" It's a manicure for your mouth. And that was Cheyenne Mountain Dental Care for me. A manicure for your mouth.

I have THE WORST anxiety about going to the dentist, so when I walked in for my SAME DAY appointment they scheduled me, I was relieved when I was met with the kindest, most down to earth, real people from the front reception desk, back to the treatment area. And imagine my surprise when the dental assistant made sure to grab the dentist and numb me up before they did anything (I was in the most pain I've ever been in, I think) and they made sure I was comfortable the whole visit. Everyone cared. I can't even believe this is a real place. Dr. Parkin held my hand a little, the assistants checked on me, and kept things light. AND their premeire option is AWESOME. I don't have dental insurance, but it really feels like everyone here wants you to get the care you need so they have so many options to help! I've had some terrible experiences at the dentist, and have left offices in tears from the pain, but this group of people wiped the whole slate clean. Sorry for the long winded review, I'm just so happy and not in pain for the first time in MONTHS! Thank you to ALL of the staff here! You're all incredible! I freakin love you guys!

If I would give it 10 stars I totally would, I drove 1.5hrs to come to a work-related dental exam. I was treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism from the moment I walked through the door until I walked out. My exam was long but I was made very comfortable all throughout the process, the staff is very knowledgeable and professional all my questions were answered and the process was smooth. If you are looking for an amazing dental care experience and live around the springs area this is the place to go.

One of the best dental visits I've ever experienced in my life. From the moment I called them to inquire and eventually book an appointment to the day of my appointment, I felt very comfortable and all the staff and dentist were very accommodating and friendly, especially on how they treated a pregnant woman like me. Cant wait to see them again on my next visit.

I just had my appointment today and I cannot say enough good things about this office. From the moment I called and Madison answered the phone she was a joy and the rest of the staff did not disappoint. I haven't been to the dentist in 5 years due to a horrible last experience and everyone in this office made me so comfortable and was so friendly and non judgmental that I cannot wait to go back! My hygienist (Lisa I believe her name was) was fantastic!!!! She was so amazing with her work and making sure I was okay. I cannot say enough how much I love this office after just 1 appointment and I'm so excited to get my mouth back on track with their help. This is the place to go in Colorado Springs!!!
