Dr. Sumlin was born and raised in Charlotte. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both his undergraduate and dental studies. He then completed a 2-year General Practice Residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He is active in the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Charlotte Dental Society, and also several dental study clubs in the area. He was recognized as one of the Top Dentists in Charlotte in 2018 by Charlotte Magazine.
Hi, my name is Allison Cook, and I am a Dental Assistant at Chestnut Dentistry. After graduating High School in 2000, I went to college at CPCC, and began working at Chestnut Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2008. My husband, Aaron and I have a son, named Jackson, who we are very proud of. I enjoy working with and meeting new people.
My goal is to ensure that our patients have a pleasant experience while receiving quality dental care. While away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as cooking, and reading.
Hello, I'm Cheryl York. I graduated from UNC in 1978 with my degree in Dental Hygiene and have been practicing now for over 30 years. My husband and I have raised three wonderful children: a son and 2 daughters. When I am not in the office I enjoy fostering puppies and kittens through the Charlotte Mecklenburg Humane Society, travel, cooking, reading, and scrapbooking.
Hi! My name is Amanda Williams. I have lived in Indian Trail my entire life. After graduating from Sun Valley High School in May of 2002, I began working as a dental assistant, and currently work as a receptionist at Chestnut Dentistry. In my spare time, I enjoy visiting with family, spending time with friends, and going to the gym.
I love my job because I enjoy the interaction with all the patients and getting to see their smiling faces. The state-of-the-art office that Dr. Sumlin has is by far the nicest and most relaxing place I have ever been.

Been going to Dr. Sumlin for about 10 years now. He and the hygienists are always very thorough and do a great job. Hygienists are very friendly and gentle as well.

Terrific dentist, terrific staff, really nice office environment. Cutting edge technology. And, bad for me, they will find your cavities, no escaping it. All fixes are expertly done. Excellent.

The entire staff is extremely friendly and personable! Dr. Sumlin is very gentle and is calm mannered. His assistant is also very gentle and calm mannered , they really compliment each other and are a great team. The Hygenist is very thorough, but quick. She is always upbeat and happy. I always enjoy the atmosphere of the waiting room as well. It's very comfortable and you can help yourself to refreshments during what is always a very short wait. The office secretary is always smiling and there to greet you up front. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I get email reminders for my cleanings and am able to get an appointment quickly!!
