Born and raised in the Green Spring Valley area of Baltimore County, Dr. Garden has remained a life-long local of this area. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University in Biological Sciences. While at Temple University, Dr. Garden was a faculty member and lab instructor in the department of Biology. Dr. Garden then received his D.D.S. degree from Howard University School of Dentistry in 1986. His one-year internship was spent at District of Columbia General Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center. He then completed his additional years of residency and received his certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the District of Columbia General Hospitals, Howard University Hospital, and the Veterans Administration Hospital of Washington D.C.
Immediately following his residency program, Dr. Garden entered private practice in December of 1989. Dr. Garden started with a very small office located in Arnold, Maryland. Over the years, the practice has grown and he is now located in Severna Park, Maryland. This new facility is state of the art with the most recent technology available and comforts that can be offered to the oral surgery patient. Additionally, this facility is the home to Chesapeake Dental Implant Institute. This is a nonprofit educational institute that is dedicated to educating the dental and medical community in Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas. Dr. Garden and his team have issued well over 1,000 hours of continuing education to the dental community.
He remains very active on the medical staff at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He also has privileges at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. He has been the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the past eight years at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Dr. Garden stays very busy since he provides emergency room coverage 365 days a year at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. The medically compromised patient has always been welcome in his practice. Dr Garden will often treat the very ill patient in the hospital setting. These patients often times find it difficult to find a provider.
Outside the office, Dr. Garden can be found on his working farm in Davidsonville, Maryland. He is a partner in Eco-Goats.com Inc. His farm is the home to over 150 goats that are used for vegetation control throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. You can occasionally find his goats in the Philadelphia area and sometimes even further north. He also enjoys tending to his donkeys, steer, ducks, chickens, cats, rabbits and dogs. The most recent addition to his farm is his two heritage American Guinea Hogs. Most important to Dr. Garden is his wife, Shannon, and their three children. Shannon can be found coaching or officiating either field hockey or womens lacrosse most any day. She coaches at the county, club, and high school levels. Lacrosse and field hockey are his childrens passion. He and his wife Shannon have established a private park at their home, which is the training facility to Integrity Lacrosse Club. Their two lacrosse fields provide field time to over 200 young ladies each and every week throughout the year. Cutting grass and lining fields is not necessarily a passion of Dr. Gardens, its a chore! Dr. Garden feels very blessed to have such a supportive family and success over the years. He will tell you that he awakens each and every morning looking forward to providing the dental needs of the community every day.

During my consultation, Dr. Garden and his staff put me at ease. Dr. Garden explained everything and asked if I had a any questions, he was very thorough. Today I had my wisdom teeth removed under general anesthesia, and it was a pleasant experience. Dr. Garden put me at ease once again! I would recommend this oral surgeon to everyone, Dr. Garden is not only excellent and skillful, he also has a wonderful bedside manner. The staff was also wonderful, they were kind and skillful as well! If you need oral surgery done, go to Chesapeake Oral Surgery Associates! I would give more than five stars if I could!

Had two back teeth pulled and I was in & out within an hour. Great staff especially Taylor and Mary and of course Dr Garden ! Definitely recommend his practice.

Same day emergency extraction. After suffering through 50 years of painful dentistry with many different dentists, Dr Garden did an extremely difficult extraction is just a few minutes, with absolutely no pain. Plus, no follow-up pain, swelling or discomfort. An exceptional Oral Surgeon!!

Dr. Gardner has a really good bedside manner despite being a busy man lol. It happened so fast. By the time I laid back in the chair, he was like "we're all done". I felt no pain when the anesthetic wore off, too. I told them I had bad dental anxiety and they took me very seriously. They tapped my shoulder to distract me and didn't give me any anesthetics that made me feel jumpy. Overall this was a very positive experience. I felt respected and cared about when I came here.

Recently had a tooth extracted but Dr Gardner. It was the easiest experience ever! I was SO nervous to have this done, and it was so quick and easy that I didn't even know the tooth was out! When he said it was over, I had to double check and ask if the tooth was actually already out because I just knew it wasn't going to be that easy, but it was! He and his staff are all so sweet too! I would absolutely recommend him & his office! If I was to ever need another tooth extracted, I won't be nervous going to his office because I know I'll be in great hands!

Dr Garden is a wonderful guy. Incredibly kind, honest, and intelligent. Friendly and straightforward. He has a warm demeanor and a unique ability to make you feel calm and comfortable. He did a wonderful job on my wisdom teeth extraction, and was very thorough with instructions on after care. I healed up beautifully with zero complications and I feel much better now. He really knows what he is doing, anyone who goes to this office is in very capable hands. He genuinely seems to care about his patients. Only small thing is both times I was there I was left waiting for a bit, but honestly I'd happily wait for a good doctor anytime. Front desks could use a little help I think. I pre-registered online and got a confirmation email but upon arriving they did not have my information and I had to fill the whole thing out again on paper with my rowdy 10 month old with me. They billed my insurance incorrectly the first time. Also the website is often down and I was not able to make payments online, the PayPal link does not work from computer or phone. Again, minor inconveniences, still worth 5 stars. Despite the small issues all of the staff was INCREDIBLY pleasant! Highly recommend.

So I'm a veteran and had a abscess tooth the need to be removed. The VA said it would take around 2 months to get me in, I'm very poor and Dr Garden went and did the surgery for free. Chesapeake oral surgery associates stepped up when veteran affairs wouldn't thanks you for the care

I had a molar causing me a lot of pain, my normal dentist said I had to see an oral surgeon. I called around to a few places closer to me and no one could get me in till the earliest Tuesday, it was a Friday. I explained the situation to the receptionist and she told me to come right in, she explained it might take a while since they were squeezing me in between normal appts. I was in a room 20 mins after I got there. They brought all the discharge papers to me and the bill b4 I even seen the dentist, just so I didn't have to wait around after I was done. The hole thing only took an hour and a half. He was able to get my tooth out it one piece and now the next day what little pain I am in is no where near the pain I was in b4 I went. Any other dental needs I will be going here.
