Dr. Frank Parreira spent his formative years bouncing around the globe as an Army brat, finally settling in Annapolis, Maryland. He earned his bachelors degree from The Johns Hopkins University in 1980. After a brief stint in the Minnesota Twins farm system, he completed his DDS degree from the University of Maryland School of Dental Surgery in 1984. Frank entered the Navys 1925I dental student program during his junior year at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Parreira practiced as a Navy general dentist for seven years prior to being accepted to the Naval postgraduate program at Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Parreira graduated from Bethesda with a certificate in Endodontics in 1993. In 1996 he successfully challenged the board and received Board Certification in Endodontics. Dr. Parreira has served in numerous assignments in the Navy, including the Philippines, Dental Assignments Officer at Naval Personnel Command, and Executive Officer for the Gulf Coast Region. Dr. Parreiras final duty station was as the Dental Clinic Director at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. Dr. Parreira received numerous awards and recognitions during his illustrious 22-year Naval career, including the Commanding Officers award for clinical excellence and the Commanding Officers award for Outstanding Mentor.
During his Naval career, Dr. Parreira served in numerous capacities that have enhanced his private practice experience. He has served as the Command Infection Control Officer on two different tours and was directly responsible for all patient relations issues for over 10 years of his career. He continues to be committed to continuing education, averaging over 50 hours a year as well as annually attending the national conference for endodontists. Dr. Parreira is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, American Board of Endodontics, Maryland State Dental Association, Anne Arundel County Dental Society, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.
Prior to retiring from the Navy, Dr. Parreira started moonlighting with Dr. Luzader at the Chesapeake Endodontic Center. He was so impressed with the practices focus on compassionate care and the way the staff treated all of the patients as family that he became a full-time partner in 2008.
Personally, Dr. Parreira enjoys all sports, particularly the ones he can play with his grandchildren. He is married to his high-school sweetheart, the former Cheryl Fry, and has three children: Kristin, a Marine Corps wife married to Patrick (USNA 2011), Jimmy (USNA 2011), an F-18 pilot currently stationed in Oceana, VA, and Brian, a USC Aiken graduate and currentlyplaying professional baseball in Joliet IL. Frank and Cheryl have 4 precious grandchildren, Camden, Charley, Hattie and Jordan.
