Dr. Joshua Vang was born and raised in the Twin Cities. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry at Carleton College. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2006 from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry.
Dr. Vang began private practice soon after graduating in 2008 at Cherokee Dental where hes been able to provide treatment in all aspects of dentistry from surgical to cosmetic treatments. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, St. Paul District Dental Society and has recently become a member of the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics where he recently became certified for Botox and Dermal fillers and continues to strive for more.
Dr. Vang was nominated as a Top Dentist in MN in 2009, 2010 and 2013 featured in Minnesota Monthly magazine. He was recently nominated for the office for the best dental care in the Readers Choice 2019 Lillie Suburban Newspapers and was also nominated in the as one of the favorite dental offices for the Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorites. Dr. Vang serves as one of the longest tenured volunteer dentists at Hope Clinic (formerly known as the Union Gospel Mission) in St. Paul and was also a former adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in the Prosthodontics Division. Dr. Vang is blessed to be happily married to his wife Mai Ya, and have four children, Kingston, Titan, Scarlett and Hero. Hes an avid enthusiast of ultimate frisbee, loves watching sports, doing dirty mud runs and having family fun nights playing board games with an occasional good night of bowling and movies.

I have been going to the same dentist for 10 years and they were so structured, formal and I never felt relaxed. I hate dental work, I get anxiety and tense, as many people do! I read reviews about Cherokee dental on Google and nextdoor and decided to give them a try since we live very close. I was not disappointed! Actually even more impressed than I expected! The conversation between even the employees was so pleasant, you can tell they love working there! I immediately felt like a member of the family walking in! I felt heard, they truly listened to me and explained things very well! I am transferring my whole family to have all future care at Cherokee dental!! VERY impressed! 10 stars!! Well done!

Clean building, extremely nice and gentle staff, Dr. Vang is hands down the best dentist I've ever been too. Extremely recommended !

Dr. Vang is an excellent dentist. After taking a break from visiting the dentist in my 20s and early 30s, I had a BIG backlog of issues to take care of when I finally got over my hesitations and got back into the dental chair. Dr. Vang and team handled those issues well, and got me into tip top dental shape again! I've since had to move away from the Twin Cities, but I definitely miss having Dr. Vang as my dentist!

This is the by far the best dental experience that I have experienced! I used to dread going to the dentist but going to Dr Vang has changed all of that . He is engaging, kind, and thoughtful, not to mention that the is an excellent dentist! Cherokee Dental and Dr. Vang are simply the best!

Had a tooth that all the dental clinics I went to all said I needed a root canal. But Joshua was able to fix my tooth without doing root canal. Great, honest, and excellent skills.

I hadn't seen a dentist for 17 years, the first practice I went to after my dental hiatus was not clean and reminded me of a dental chop shop ,so I listened to my wife and switched to Cherokee. The building is clean, the techs are nice, and Dr.Vang did an amazing pain free job on the first cavities I've ever had filled. Thanks Dr. Vang and company!

Very please with this doctor! It's such a family friendly facility. Dr Vang always is making sure that you feel comfortable and listens to every concern that you have . I have never been so please with such a friendly doctor and staff!

Highly recommend this dental office and dr. VanG. Came to MN for a family function and my tooth cracked and a family member called dr. VanG to see if he could see me. He was able to see me late Saturday afternoon. Grateful for his flexibility and his wife who checked me in and helped me fill out the paperwork! If I lived in the area, I would defiantly be his patient! Amazing family practice!!!!!

Dr. Vang is the best dentist I've ever been to! He's patient, gentle, and very good about talking you through all your dental work while he's doing it. The office is clean and inviting. The staff (including Dr. Vang's own parents behind the front desk) are warm and always greet you with a smile. Also the prices are reasonable and they work with you if you have any billing questions or issues. (Care Credit available!) Overall nothing but positive experiences.

Dr. Vang and his staff really made me feel comfortable and explained everything regarding my x-rays and a future crown. They have what seems to be the latest and greatest high-tech equipment. Everything was fresh and clean. I understand why they have such high ratings which influenced my decision to go to their clinic. I'm happy to make them my new dentist.
