Dr. (Joey) Jagan has over 40 years of experience in private practice as well as continuing education courses. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Riverside in 1974 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1978. He is a U.S. Board Certified, licensed dentist in New York, New Jersey, Texas, Maryland, and Guyana. Dr. Jagan is the owner and practicing dentist of both of our practices in Guyana and NY.
Dr. (Joey) Jagan has been married for over 35 years and has three children, and three grandchildren. Two of his three children are practicing NY attorneys and his youngest followed in his footsteps in becoming a dentist
Dr. Jagan is the daughter of Dr. (Joey) Jagan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Brooklyn College CUNY in 2013 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC in 2018. She completed her General Practice Residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in 2019 and has joined both of our branches. She is U.S. Board certified, Invisalign certified, and a licensed dentist in New York as well as Guyana.
Dr. Khan earned his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica in 2009 and his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Guyana in 2015. He joined our Guyana branch in 2015 as an associate dentist and has been with us ever since. Dr. Khan got married in 2018 to his lovely wife.
Deon has been a part of our Guyana team since 2010. She started working as a dental assistant and later on acquired her training in hygiene. She is currently our office manager and hygienist. She is married and has a beautiful son.
Diana has been a part of our Guyana team since 2003. Prior to that, she was an assistant for medical extenders for one year. Diana started working as a dental assistant and later on acquired her training in hygiene. She is currently our office supervisor and hygienist. She has been married since 2012.
Christal has been a part of our Guyana dental team since 2013. Prior to joining our team, she worked as an orthodontic assistant for two years and worked at Medicare Pharmacy for three years. She is currently working with us as a part time dental assistant.
Natalia joined our Guyana dental team in 2018. She was born and raised in Boliva, Venzuela and has been living in Guyana since 2015. She is bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) and is currently working with us as a part time dental assistant.
Our Charlotte Street location was founded by President Dr. Cheddi B. Jagan in 1948. Dr. Jagans brother, Dr. Surpaul Jagan, joined the practice in 1951 after acquiring his DDS degree from Loyola University College of Dentistry in 1950. Dr. Cheddi (Joey) Jagan Jr., son of President Dr. Cheddi Jagan, later on bought the practice in 1993, becoming the sole owner of Cheddi Jagan Dental Surgery. Dr. Cheddi (Joey) Jagan Jr. opened our NY practice in 2016. Our ideals have remained the same from when President Dr. Jagan first opened 70+ years ago: providing affordable, quality, ethical dental care to ALL.

Wonderful experience! Going to the dentist has never been so easy. Dr. Jagan was very kind and informative, she made sure to explain my x-rays and treatment plan. Her office is very clean and bright, the staff were also very nice and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

Awesome Dentist, very thorough, explains everything and very polite., most importantly, no pain after a major procedure, I have had major dental work done in the past with other Dentists and felt uncomfortable for a few days. No pain or being uncomfortable with Dr. Jagan, Great personalized service from the cleaning, major dental procedure to giving me major discounts without me even asking, Can't get better than that.

I brought my daughter here for one of her first dentsl visits, and it was a grest experience. My daughter loved the fact she actually got to assist Ms. Jagan with her teeth cleaning. I think i found the dentist for my family for the future. THANK YOU for being awesome!

Incredible Dental experience. Dr. A. Jagan did a fantastic job. She acknowledged that I was nervous and took the time to throughly explain the procedure. She gave me a sense of security and ease with her friendly demeanor. She's knowledgeable and her office is clean! I couldn't ask for a better dentist.

I came to Dr. Avasa Jagan to help me with my gapped teeth! Everyone I knew persuaded me not to but after my consultation with her I was certain that she would make me smile more confidently! I had a great experience with Dr A. Jagan! She made me feel so comfortable and safe. Her experience and knowledge really shows because she explains everything about a procedure before doing it. She removed my wisdom tooth and my recovery was a dream.. I highly credit that to her! I'm glad she will be my go-to dentist moving forward. Highly recommend.
