When hes not seeing patients, Dr. Chavis loves to play tennis, swim and cycle, and travel. Hes also an animal lover, sharing his life with a Doberman Pinscher. He is an avid competitive equestrian, frequently competing in three-day eventing with his two horses.

Natalie joined Chavis Dental in 2018, bringing with her more than 25 years of experience in the dental field. She started as a receptionist and gradually, through training and continuing education courses, worked her way to Office Manager. With her warm and friendly manner, she makes sure everyone feels at home and heard during their visits.
As our office manager, Natalie oversees the practice, keeping us organized and running smoothly. She manages scheduling and patient flow, presents treatment plans, and organizes and presents financials to patients, arranging their payment schedules, too. Natalie also directs the processing and submission of insurance claims.
Originally from Washington , DC , Salena attended Margaret Murray Career Senior High School where she learned about the different aspects of dentistry. She graduated in June 2006 and decided that she wanted to further her education in dentistry. She went on and attended Applied Career Training (ACT) Institute and graduated in 2007.
She worked in Largo , Maryland for two years as a dental assistant where she was able to gain knowledge from accredited classes. Salena became a team member at Chavis Dental in April 2010 as a dental assistant as well as gaining knowledge from front desk experience.
LaDonna is from Elizabethton, TN, near the Smokey Mountains. She completed her dental hygiene degree fromEast Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN in May 2000 and moved to Knoxville, TN after graduation where she still maintains a home.
LaDonna moved to the DC area in November 2007 and became part of the Chavis Dental team in October 2008. She resides in Annandale, VA, where she enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends and her dog, Crispen.

I am new to Dr. Chavis and this was my first visit with him since my dentist retired earlier in 2022 and Dr. Chavis took over Dr. Vafised's clients. Dr. Chavis started my visit by going through my dental set with vigor and reciting a series of useless (dental mumbo jumbo to me) medical adverbs to describe what he was seeing - ok, but after this looky loo, no mention of why he did what he just did. Seemingly it was to prove he was more knowledgeable than I in modern dentisty. I was then informed that I grind my teeth and many of my filllings need to be replaced. Mind you, I see my dentist twice a year without fail, all of sudden, my other dentists withheld information from me. None of these issues seemed to be urgent, just things we need to address. Before I left and after my cleaning (the staff is terrific by the way) I was offered two possible procedures with an out of pocket cost of nearly $600. My experience simply was not a pleasant one. I would have rather enjoyed he take the time to visit with me and allow me to get to know him and have a lively and upbeat first visit since this was a routine cleaning and definitely not any kind of emergency, the next visit, perhaps, then we talk about any issues, triage them and deal with them logically instead of at that moment. I wish Dr. Chavis and his staff the best but I will be looking for other dental providers.

Had a wisdom teeth extraction procedure done and it went really well. Dr. Chavis did a really great job at explaining everything he was going to do during the operation and he's definitely skilled as it didn't hurt too much. The team also did a superb job at going over the postoperative instructions and took the time to answer all of concerns and questions that I had. You (or your teeth) will be in great hands. Highly recommend!

Dr. Chavis snd his staff are professional and personable. I always look forward to going to my dental appointments. ? I'm not crazy or on laughing gas... he and his staff are just wonderful.! . You are at ease when you are in the hands of a highly skilled, experienced, and caring dentist. That's why I've taken my parents and family members to him.

I Rocio am my mom Rose Aragon primary caregiver.Because we were 35 minutes late fro our appointment we had to wait for an opening. However we were both were immediately taken with Dr. Chavis. His working with my mother and the quality of his work went well beyond expectations. my mother claims it's the most positive dental expereince she's had in her life.

Been a loyal patient of Dr. Chavis for decades now. With all my other medical care, I've switched doctors several times over the years as life circumstances have changed -- but never dentists, even though it means a long drive for me now. He and his practice are simply the best. Everyone there is always professional, thorough and courteous, his judgment is always good, and his "chairside" manner is professional and inspires confidence. And in my case he even extracted a wisdom tooth without my needing so much as an aspirin the next day.

Dr Chavis has been my dentist for 31 years. I can't imagine going to any other dentist. He is thorough, professional, caring and trustworthy. The staff members are also friendly and professional. The office is meticulously clean.

I had a wonderful experience starting with the always pleasant Natalie greeting the patients and scheduling appointments. The new Dental Hygienist, Marlene was amazing very professional, pleasant and thorough. Dr. Chavis as always is on top of my care, is always very warm and friendly.

I am so dentist-phobic that I used to go for years on end avoiding dentists. Dr. Chavis and his delightful staff have not only successfully fixed my numerous dental issues but they always make my visits pleasant and relatively stress-free, and since I started using this practice I have not felt like postponing a single appointment. Dr. Chavis is a wizard. His practice also has made heroic efforts to handle my reticent insurer on my behalf. As long as I have teeth I will forbid Dr. Chavis from retiring.

Superb service. Dr. Chavis and his staff are highly skilled and friendly. The dental office use advanced dental technology which made having a full mouth x-rays taken, teeth cleaning, repair of chipped tooth, impression for tooth all in the same visit painless. Dr. Chavis explained the health of my mouth and showed me using a camera. The office is very clean and decorated well. Chavis Dental care about keeping and making smiles beautiful. Thank you.

Dr. Chavis is a perfectionist, and who better to care for your teeth than someone who doesn't accept "okay" as good enough, but insists on reaching the "wow"! Dr. Chavis and his team have been caring for my teeth for years, and they have earned my trust and respect. They can do the same for you.
