Dr. Rosemichele Sorvino-Macchia graduated with honors from the New Jersey Dental School (NJDS) in 1991. She furthered her education by completing a General Practice Residency at The Mountainside Hospital where she received her certificate in 1992. She practiced general dentistry until 1996 when she realized that specialty in Endodontics was her professional calling. She then went on to study at the Postgraduate Endodontic Program at NJDS, where she was selected as Chief Resident, and received her Endodontic Specialty Certificate.
While in private practice, Dr. Sorvino-Macchia has chosen to serve as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics at NJDS. This allows her to keep abreast of the most current research and technology while educating the next generation of dentists.
Dr. Sorvino-Macchia is dedicated to the highest standards of patient care, creating the most comfortable atmosphere possible for the patient. She practices as a team with the referring dentist toward providing a conservative plan of treatment that best suits the needs of the patient.
Dr. Sorvino-Macchia was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. She has resided in Chatham, NJ with her husband and 3 children since 1999. Dr. Sorvino-Macchia has many hobbies many of which involve her children! She enjoys practicing in Chatham and welcomes the opportunity to serve patients in her community.
Dr. Hirschberg is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Cincinnati in 1975. Dr. Hirschberg pursued his dental education at New York University College of Dentistry where he earned his D.D.S. in 1980.
Dr. Hirschberg has been an endodontist in private practice in New York and New Jersey since 1983. He has been an assistant professor at New Jersey Dental School in the Department of Endodontics since 2001. He is involved with clinical and didactic training of predoctoral students and the postdoctoral residency program.
Dr. Hirschberg is a member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Education Association and is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.

Dr. Sorvino-Macchia is one in a million. She is very professional, thorough, friendly, gentle, compassionate, and truly cares about her patients and comfort. The staff is amazing as well. I was very nervous in needing 2 root canals done and I felt instant calm when I met Dr. Sorvino-Macchia. I would give her more than 5 stars if I could and highly recommend!

I met Dr Servino earlier this year and I got the impression that she really does care about her patients because she seemed to very engaged in my current dental situation.

I needed an emergency root canal on a Friday before a holiday weekend and Dr. Sorvino was amazing. She was one of the few doctors who were open during COVID-19 and she was already putting the recommended protocols in place. She explained in great detail everything that I needed done and the entire procedure was painless. I never want another root canal but if i do, I will definitely choose Dr Sorvino.

I was referred to Chatham Endodontics by my dentist for a root canal. I was nervous about the procedure. Dr. Craig Hirschberg and his assistant Monica made me feel at ease. Very nice people and thorough. They were explaining what they were doing and what I was going to be feeling. And there was no pain whatsoever. I had to excuse myself to use the bathroom in the middle of their work and they were very nice about that. No attitude, no sighs of annoyance. Their front desk ladies, Laura and Angela were also a delight to talk to on the phone and in person. If you have to go for a root canal, I highly recommend Dr. Craig Hirschberg and Monica. They will make your visit feel like a spa for your teeth!
