Born in Alberta, Canada Dr. Tiwana completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Biological Sciences in 1996 at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois in 2000. After dental school she pursued a one year General Practice Residency at the Denver Health Medical Center, in Denver, Colorado. She is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
From 2001-2014 Dr. Tiwana was a full-time faculty member and Clinical Assistant Professor at UNC Chapel Hill, School of Dentistry. During her time on the faculty she was Director of the Urgent Care Clinic. Additionally, she was a Clinic Director and mentor for third year dental students, for her efforts in this role she received a teaching award in 2014. She was Director of the General Dentistry Group in the UNC Dental Faculty Practice. She also taught the dental students a didactic course in Oral Diagnosis. She has a particular interest in treatment planning, oral medicine and esthetic dentistry. She has published in the Journal of the American Dental Association and the Journal of Dental Education, as well as given presentations at the national and local levels.
Dr. Tiwana has also worked with the North Carolina Smiles Program, providing dental care for school children around the state. She has participated in many North Carolina Mission of Mercy clinics, and other community dental outreach projects.
Kirstin was born and raised in Maine. She graduated from University of Southern Maine in 1992 with a BA in International Studies. She then completed her AAS in Dental Hygiene from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX. Prior to moving to North Carolina she and her family lived in Wisconsin where she raised her three adult children who still reside there. She hopes they will move closer to NC in the future! She has an identical twin sister who lives in the area you may run into, so dont be surprised if she does not recognize you! In her spare time Kirstin enjoys swimming, playing classical piano, skiing, travel, and she is currently learning to knit. Kirstin is fluent in German. She looks forward to meeting the wonderful residents of Chatham County where she and her husband now reside, and she is excited to be part of this community!
Angie was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She received her Associate Degree in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting at National University College in Puerto Rico. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart who is serving in the US Army, they currently reside in Sanford. She has a son and daughter in college. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and watching baseball games. Angie is fluent in Spanish, and has been a Spanish teacher in the past.
