We are proud of our practices commitment to be on the cutting edge of technology in oral surgery. If you have any questions about our use of technology or are just interested in a more detailed explanation of how the technology works, please ask for additional information.

Technology affects many aspects of oral surgery, including planning for the procedure and performing it. For example, advanced imaging helps us to better visualize the surgical field when we are preparing for something like jaw surgery or dental implant placement and reduces the likelihood of surprises during the procedure.

Using the most current tools and instruments to perform the procedure is also important, as outdated technology may not be as effective. Furthermore, as surgical instruments are consistently improved by manufacturers, they are able to be more precise, which facilitates faster healing in patients.

This air purification system uses HyperHEPA technology to capture particles a fraction of the size that normally pass through a standard HEPA system. Therefore, it is able to protect patients from a broader range of allergens, pathogens, and other potentially harmful substances.

Digital radiography produces standard two-dimensional x-rays but while exposing the patient to a much lower dose of radiation than traditional x-ray equipment does. These images help diagnose conditions and prepare for simple procedures, such as wisdom tooth extraction.

In contrast, our CS 9300 Cone Beam CT scanner compiles multiple two-dimensional images to create a three-dimensional illustration of the surgical field. Having a three-dimensional image as a guide can help us to pinpoint a specific surgical strategy to use during the procedure.

Furthermore, Cone Beam CT results in lower radiation exposure than traditional CT scans entail, and our CS 9300 system can be tailored to scan precise areas to even further reduce the patients radiation exposure.

We can also use imaging technology for patient education purposes. The lifelike images help us to provide more relevant information about the purpose of the procedure and the techniques that we plan to use. We can give you a three-dimensional depiction of the anticipated results, as well.

Of course, more precise surgical technology also typically results in a faster, more predictable healing process. This is yet another way that our patients benefit from our practices dedication to technology.

Dr. Ibanez achieves this goal by working closely with our vendors and taking advantage of all relevant continuing education opportunities. We are diligent about staying updated on technological advances that can further enhance our care and our patients experiences.

The science and art of treating facial injuries requires special training involving a hands-on experience and an understanding of how the treatment provided will influence the patients long term function and appearance.

Corrective jaw surgery is needed when jaws dont meet correctly and/or teeth dont seem to fit with jaws. This not only improves facial appearance, but also ensures that teeth meet correctly and function properly.

The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin (mucosa) that is smooth and coral pink in color. Any alteration in this appearance could be a warning sign for a pathological process, such as oral cancer.

Wisdom teeth removal, local anesthesia. They were extremely considerate, I was in and out in less than a hour and had no bruising and surprisingly little swelling and pain afterwards. Definitely recommend

Anticipating was worse than the actual procedure. Dr. Hill is kind, professional, considerate. Once numb, the lower right anchor molar (w/2 RCTs) was removed quickly, <20 minutes. I would gladly recommend him to all of my family and friends, but they live too far away!

I can not express how much I appreciate the care that Charlottesville Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center provided to my daughter! My daughter had complications from a wisdom teeth removal surgery performed two weeks ago before she entered the college. The surgeon who performed the surgery for her was more than 350 miles away from her campus. As a first year student and far away from home, she felt physically and emotionally miserable. After a week of ineffective antibiotics treatment, I contacted Charlottesville Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center. Ms. Rebecca immediately scheduled an appointment for my daughter. Dr. Nicholas Hill, along with dental assistants Brandy and Mckenzie treated my daughter. After the treatment, they gave my daughter throughout instructions about after treatment care, including a tool to clean the hard to reach areas in her mouth. Considering my daughter is a first years student and already paid surgery fee, they even decided not to charge her. They are "so nice and genuinely care about their patients", said my daughter. My daughter recovered very well so far. We highly recommend Charlottesville Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, not only because they provide high quality treatment and care, but also they have great bedside manners. They are one of the Charlottesville's proud.
