Dr. Vivek Patel was born in Chicago and raised in Skokie, IL. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD). While in school, he served as as a board member of his graduating class and the American Student Dental Association (ASDA).
After dental school, Dr. Patel completed his orthodontic specialty residency at the Seton Hill UniversityAdvanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, where he obtained a Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Dr. Patel is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is involved with many professional associations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and South Carolina Dental Association.
When not in the office, Dr. Patel enjoys spending family time with his wife, Krupa, who is a native of the metro Detroit area. They both enjoy traveling and finding good eats. Dr. Patel is a huge sports fan and is a proud supporter of all Chicago teams, especially the Chicago Cubs.
Dr. Steve Garrett has been delivering the highest standard of orthodontic care since 1979. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry with a residency in orthodontics and is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He is passionate about his patients and is committed to giving each patient the best possible orthodontic experience.
He and his wife, Susie, have three children, Justin, Anne, and Mykenzie, and one precious granddaughter, Autumn. Dr. Justin Garrett followed in his fathers footsteps and is an orthodontist practicing in Charleston, South Carolina. Anne is a registered dental hygienist and practices in Northern VA. Dr. Mykenzie Garrett is a physical therapist.
Dr. Garrett is a black belt in Kenpo Karate and has taught martial arts in his free time. He has also served as Chairman of the Boy Scouts Eagle Board. He and Susie enjoy shoot sports, golf, tennis, and traveling with family and friends.
Dr. Trevan Samp received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Brown University, where he was also a wide receiver for the Brown Bears. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania for dental school and completed his Masters in Orthodontics at the University of Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He is also certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Samp was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which explains his allegiance to the Green Bay Packers, but is excited to now call Charleston home. When he isnt helping patients, he enjoys playing sports, hiking, skiing, travelling, and spending time with his wife, Ashley, and his family and friends.

I love this place. I don't care if I have to drive 1 hour and 45 minutes. The staff are nice and friendly. Now my daughter is a patient now and they make her feel so comfortable.

I would definitely recommend Charleston Orthodontic Specialists to anyone looking for affordable braces. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. The starting process is so smooth. I just started in June and haven't had any problems so far !

Highly disappointed as they were not thorough. Things that I was assured would be taken care of wasn't handled in a timely manner. As a result, I was expected to make 3 two hour trips to their office in 1 week... absolutely NOT!

Soon as you walk in the energy is amazing. I went in kind of nervous because it's been a while for me personally and this is the first time I've ever gotten braces but the team makes you feel so comfortable. Everybody is super sweet, and the area is well cleaned. I am very excited to call this my orthodontist home for the next 18 months. P.S I'm coming all the way from the beach for this, & I don't regret the drive!

Love the orthodontist, I drive 2 hours just for that reason. Now that it is getting to the end of my daughter's time with braces the teeth are started to Shift and hurt quite a bit. Went in on Friday for an appointment and called Monday because she was in pain, I was told sorry we can't give a note for school unless she was here today..... I really think that is a policy that needs changed because of how schools are nowadays, but I do plan finishing it out there because it's not much longer.... I hope others have a better experience if they come across this situation because mine was not so great!
