Dr. Vivek Patel was born in Chicago and raised in Skokie, IL. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD). While in school, he served as as a board member of his graduating class and the American Student Dental Association (ASDA).
After dental school, Dr. Patel completed his orthodontic specialty residency at the Seton Hill UniversityAdvanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, where he obtained a Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Dr. Patel is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is involved with many professional associations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and South Carolina Dental Association.
When not in the office, Dr. Patel enjoys spending family time with his wife, Krupa, who is a native of the metro Detroit area. They both enjoy traveling and finding good eats. Dr. Patel is a huge sports fan and is a proud supporter of all Chicago teams, especially the Chicago Cubs.
Dr. Steve Garrett has been delivering the highest standard of orthodontic care since 1979. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry with a residency in orthodontics and is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He is passionate about his patients and is committed to giving each patient the best possible orthodontic experience.
He and his wife, Susie, have three children, Justin, Anne, and Mykenzie, and one precious granddaughter, Autumn. Dr. Justin Garrett followed in his fathers footsteps and is an orthodontist practicing in Charleston, South Carolina. Anne is a registered dental hygienist and practices in Northern VA. Dr. Mykenzie Garrett is a physical therapist.
Dr. Garrett is a black belt in Kenpo Karate and has taught martial arts in his free time. He has also served as Chairman of the Boy Scouts Eagle Board. He and Susie enjoy shoot sports, golf, tennis, and traveling with family and friends.
Dr. Trevan Samp received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Brown University, where he was also a wide receiver for the Brown Bears. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania for dental school and completed his Masters in Orthodontics at the University of Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He is also certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Samp was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which explains his allegiance to the Green Bay Packers, but is excited to now call Charleston home. When he isnt helping patients, he enjoys playing sports, hiking, skiing, travelling, and spending time with his wife, Ashley, and his family and friends.

Just drove 2 hours to find out there is several locations. They never even mentioned that. Drove to the location that the phone number matched and it was closed. Got there 10 minutes early too! Tried to drive to the location the office lady said and it was still wrong. Got a call at 3:15 that we would have to reschedule! Did not even care that we drove 2 hours!!

I started my treatment in 2019 and the team did everything needed to make me feel as comfortable as possible ! I love how the environment is such a welcoming environment, it saddens my heart that I got my braces off but I'll always stop by every holiday so tell them hello and give a little treat :) The west Ashley team is the best !!!!!

This is literally the best orthodontist in South Carolina hands down, I'm 21 paying for everything on my own and they really work with you and payments, they abide by your schedule and are very professional and caring in the work the place. My location is in west Ashley SC and all the ladies in there are very sweet, and my actual orthodontist is amazing as well. I'm very glad I chose to get my braces here !!!!

Customer service is terrible I called multiple times and nobody answered the phone at all. Also waited on hold and I waited so long the phone hung up. I even left a voicemail and didn't receive a call back until 3 days later

I recently completed my braces journey and after almost 4 years with Charleston Orthodontic Specialists, I am so happy with my smile! The West Ashley location is fantastic. I put so much trust in the staff there, especially Dr. Trev, Cheri, and Lori. I came in with a pretty extreme case of crowding and they were able to correct it in a reasonable amount of time, not to mention it was affordable! They even fully removed my braces the week of my wedding in 2020 and put them back on after my wedding at no charge. Thank you, COS West Ashley!

I absolutely love coming to this orthodontist. They're located in West Ashley they have the best staff. Everyone is always very nice and the customer service is out of this world. Family oriented office. Dr Trevor is amazing. I recommend anyone to Charleston orthodontist in West Ashley. You will not be disappointed.
