Our flagship dental office, Painesville Dental Group, first opened its doors in 1969. Since then, we have added three additional dental offices to better serve patients in our communities. Dental Group of Jefferson joined the PDG family in 1971 Chardon Smile Center in 2008 and Hilltop Family Dental in 2019. In 2020, Painesville Dental Group relocated to a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility custom-built to offer patients better, more modern and streamlined oral healthcare experiences. Dr. Phillips has known that he wanted to go to dental school ever since he was 13 years old! He found what his dentist and orthodontist did very interesting as a child and respected both of them quite a bit. While he originally wanted to become an orthodontist, he decided to stick with general dentistry in the end because it allowed him to perform a greater variety of procedures. Decades later, he still feels very certain that he made the best choice for his lifelong career.
Dr. Phillips achieved his dental doctorate at Case Western University School of Dental Medicine. Following graduation, he started in private practice right here, where he still remains today! Over the years, he has taken many continuing education courses to further expand his skillset, focusing on subjects like endodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics, and restorative dentistry, to name a few. He enjoys remaining on the cutting edge of technology and always wants his offered services to be as modern as possible. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and the Northeast Ohio Dental Society.
Dr. Phillips and his wife Erika have been married for well over 20 years. They have three children Emily and Lauren are both currently in college at the University of Mount Union, where they are pole vaulters on the track team. Their youngest, Justin, is currently attending high school and keeps them very busy with his baseball schedule.
Currently, Dr. Phillips biggest priority outside of the dental office is his family. He and his wife travel to all the girls indoor/outdoor meets, as well as their sons baseball games. Even when the athletics end, they plan to continue traveling for pleasure! Hes also a big fan of the Cleveland Indians, the Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, watching and attending as many games as time allows every season.
Dr. Titus actually didnt decide to become a dentist until his senior year of college. He originally thought that he wanted to go into research but came to the realization that researchers spend most of their time alone as a people person, that wasnt a good fit for him. His mom, a phenomenal artist, recommended dentistry when he showed some interest in medicine because of the artistic elements, and after spending some time shadowing local dentists, a true spark of interest was born. The rest is history!
After earning his undergraduate degree from Allegheny College, Dr. Titus pursued his dental doctorate at Ohio State University. Since then, he has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, focusing on advanced esthetic, restorative, and operative dentistry. In particular, he has attended advanced courses through the AAFE (American Academy of Facial Esthetics) regarding comprehensive facial injectables.
Dr. Titus and his wife Amy have one daughter named Alexa and two dogs. In his free time, some of his favorite hobbies include exercising, skiing, boating, jet skiing, traveling, and watching/rooting for all the Cleveland and Ohio State sports teams! Hes also a proud councilman in North Perry Village, where he lives.

THANK YOU CHARDON SMILE CENTER! After years of searching; literally from NY to LA, I can finally walk into a dentist's office with NO fear...my fear was truly hand sweating, white knuckle, nauseating fear! From the time I walked in the door I was pampered, actually laughed and there was NO pain. The entire team is compassionate, kind and patient. I can't thank this group of wonderful professionals enough. I am very grateful.

Caveat Emptor I had gone to the Chardon Smile Center due to the reviews to get some work done. I knew it was going to be expensive as dental work normally is, insurance or not. They gave me an estimate and I discussed the estimate with a number of the staff (5 staff members) including the dentist that did the work and even he said. "The estimate you have is your final bill". I get the work done and they come back to me with an additional 500.00 charge. I get on the phone with their billing person and explained the issue. She then mentioned that the paperwork did say it was just an estimate and then said noted that that part of the bill was in small lettering and easily overlooked. I'd not considered/noticed it as dentists I'd used prior to this had never come back and asked for more money. Shame on me for not noticing the "small font warning" on the bill. I call my insurance to verify this and they stated that what I should have done was had it pre-approved which the Smile Center never recommended or mentioned. Even the cleaning I received seemed a higher cost than normal. I didn't really pay attention at first but after all this.. To add insult to injury, the person in billing stated I needed to pay this off as they would start putting finance charges on the amount I owed (take me to collections). It was rather a large sum so I agreed to a payment plan with them keeping my credit card information and notifying me each month when they were going charge me for the agreed payment amount. Today my card company notified me that I had a charge on my card from the Smile Center but I'd not received a call from the center letting me know they were going to charge the card. I called and spoke to one of the folks there whose name I won't mention. She said it had been done by mistake without the call as it was just run without really looking at the notes (this isn't verbatim). As for the work, I could have gone to the VA and received as good or better care without the bloated pricing. I looked at older reviews and found another person with a similar experience. I won't be going back to the Smile Center for any future work ever.

Great professional care, but six months wait for appointments. Had to cancel the dental appointment due to serious medical testing scheduled, and now have to wait another six months to schedule an appointment. So a year wasted. On August 22, 2022 I was told there was almost a six month wait. The earliest appointment available was January 24th.

I noticed I have already given smile center a 5 star review a few years ago I had to refresh it because I'm just so amazed how well these folks treat their patients. I came in for a filling and of course the dentist is never the place anyone wants to be but they make it a very comfortable experience. I'm very squirmish when it comes to working on my teeth but the dentist and the assistant were so accommodating and comforting that is was a breeze. Just world class customer service. I don't have health insurance so they gave me a savings to help me out. I can't thank you guys enough, thank you for the amazing experience!

I LOVE Chardon Smile center and recommend it to all my friends looking for a caring, trustworthy and friendly dentist. Everyone on the staff makes the experience so easy and painless. I have to give a special shout out to Stephanie my hygienist. She is the hygienist for my whole family and we adore her. She is funny, caring and relates to all of us individually. I never was comfortable or liked dentists until I came here. I have never felt more heard and treated wonderfully than I do when I am there. They do whatever they do with a smile. They put you at ease and I never felt judged for the condition my mouth was in. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. Wonderful place and I hope to continue my service with them for a long time to come

This is hands down the best dental office we've ever been to. We see Dr. Titus and he is an absolute joy to be around. He makes sure you're comfortable and you're never in any pain. They follow COVID guildlines and it's very clean. The banter between Dr. Titus and the staff is such a joy to see. My daughter Jasmine and I some times leave crying because of the laughter. I think he knows every line to all of the friends shows as well. Lol Unfortunately our insurance changed and we had to go somewhere else. The best of the best! I was in need of an emergency treatment yesterday. My dentist was not able to get me in and after calling a few other local dentists in Geauga County, The Chardon Smile Center got me in! Dr Titus was my dentist and he was incredibly nice, kind, sensitive, and funny. He and his assistant treated me as if I was an old loyal customer of theirs. My experience was beyond all expectations and they gained a new client today. I'm looking forward to my first consultation with him. Sometimes the stars align in our life and today was mine. Super efficient. Always take me on time or early. Stephanie (hygenist) is great and always reviews what she sees on the x-rays and during the cleaning. Dr. Titus does a great job if I do need any kind of dental work beyond the semi-annual cleanings.

Dr. Titus and Stephanie always take incredible care of us, especially my 6 year old! Yesterday they explained every procedure, and were beyond kind and fun to the point my daughter literally said "I like going to the dentist" on the way home. The staff is highly professional and quite engaging. Dr. Phillips is extremely knowledgeable, has a great demeanor and is very thorough. Having been going to the dentist for over 60 years, I can say without reservations he is by far the most pleasant and practical professional I've encountered.
