Dr. Claudio Urquiaga, with over 20 years of clinical experience, is dedicated to private practice, where he focuses on family and cosmetic dentistry at Chantilly Smiles, in Chantilly, Virginia. Dr. Urquiaga was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He received his bachelors and doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degrees in April of 1993, graduating with honors from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima. In 1994, he opened his own private practice and joined his alma mater as a dental faculty member the following year. Dr. Urquiaga spent 10 years teaching and practicing dentistry in his native Peru.
In 2004, Dr. Urquiaga arrived in the United States and enrolled in the two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. Upon completing his residency, he joined the University of Maryland School of Dentistry as a full-time faculty member, a position he held for three years.
Dr. Urquiaga has a gentle touch and takes every precaution to make his patients comfortable, particularly when applying anesthesia. Known affectionately as Dr. Claudio, his care for his patients' dental health and well-being is genuine. He believes that the stages of planning and explaining treatment plans are the most important steps toward a successful outcome, empowering patients to be well-informed decisions makers in the process.

After being with a dentist for nearly 20 years, change was not easy. I've been with Dr. Urquiaga now for nearly 3 years, and don't regret the move. Gentle in his touch, detailed in his care, he and the staff go out of the way to make you feel better and well treated. Thank you Dr. Urquiaga and team for your great service. FF

I gave them one star because the doctor I Don't know the name extracted healthy tooth of my wife instead of bad ! Very bad experience, I would remommend nobody to go there !

We've been going to Dr. Urquiaga for almost 2 years and the reason we keep going back is because of the great dental care we get, by this very competent and cheerful Doctor. He makes great effort to listen to what your issues might be and thoroughly explains what care you need and what he is going to do and has done for your treatments. His employees are equally competent and helpful in explaining every thing for you, as well. They all make you feel right at home and put you right at ease. It's a very friendly and comfortable environment. I guess that's why they chose the name, Chantilly Smiles. We're very thankful we found this Dental practice. It sue is helping our smiles.

Very personal staff. The primary Dentist is very kind and detail-oriented with his work. He explains all of his procedures well and is very good for distributing any numbing agents with a very gentle, slow approach so any discomfort is minimal. They will provide you with a complimentary notification by text or phone call for your upcoming appointments which is very helpful. Overall pleasant experience.

Great dentist. I actually had not been to the dentist for years because of a bad experience. I explained this to Dr. Urquiaga and he totally understood. He took his time in explaining what he was doing while working with me and made me feel more comfortable. My experience has been awesome and I now see him routinely.

As a patient of Dr. Claudio Urqiaga's, I give him 5 stars for providing excellent dental services, including his respectful and gentle manner. Dr. Urquiaga is very knowledgeable, thoughtful, caring, and patient. He and his staff at Chantilly Smiles take time to ensure my comfort and to respond thoroughly to any questions I have asked. As a result, I feel more at ease and comfortable during my dental visits at Chantilly Smiles than at any other dental office I've received treatment from. The staff are always courteous, friendly, helpful, and flexible with scheduling appointments. I highly recommend Dr. Urqiaga at Chantilly Smiles. He is the best dentist I have ever had!

Dr. Urquiaga is the best dentist I have ever been to. He really loves his practice and his clients. After visiting him for the first time as a new patient, I've never wanted to actually follow up on dental recommendations like I do now. Dr. U is a teacher as well as a doctor. He delicately and strategically explains everything that he is doing while you are in the appointment. Once he has diagnosed your concerns, he explains what the next steps will be, why there are next steps, and gives you a list of preventative measures. The man cares about his patients and his practice. He wants you to have the smile you have dreamed about, and has multiple options on how to achieve that smile with both your insurance, and your allocated budget. He is upfront about the pricing, and he does not cut corners. It also helps that he gave me a toothbrush bag and made me feel like a loved little girl despite the fact that I am 25 years old. I highly recommend this facility. His Dental Assistant Wendy is amazing. She is nice, warm, friendly, a good person to have a conversation with and I hope she herself becomes a dentist. Dr. U's office hosts a loving environment. His receptionist is also very warm, friendly, and patient. She's knowledgeable about insurance and what all is most likely needed to get you into your appointment. I can't wait for my future appointments with this office.
