Dr. Desatnik is our head dentist here at Chagrin Highlands Dental Group. He graduated Cum Laude from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and is a member of several dental societies such as the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and others. He has years of experience in general dentistry, adult orthodontics, dental implants, and cosmetic dentistry.

Digital X-rays allow us to take a look below the surface of your mouth and check for signs of bone problems or decay. Compared to traditional X-rays, digital imaging reduces your exposure to radiation by up to 90%.
Digital images are clear, easy to enhance, and can be easily sent to other doctors and insurance providers. This process helps us facilitate doctor-patient communication while cutting out unnecessary waste. Modern X-ray technology helps us treat our patients safely and efficiently.
The Acoustic Pharyngometry and Rhinometry technologies from Eccovision are known to provide a fast and accurate way of identifying problems with the airways and determining the correct solution. The Acoustic Pharyngometer utilizes reflected sound waves (similar to sonar) and special software to create a visual map of the airway to assist in analysis and to visualize changes in the cross-sectional areas of the airway. This allows Dr. Desatnik to examine its narrowness and potential for collapse, issues that are often present in patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. This technique is non-invasive and takes just minutes to complete.
With this advanced imaging system, Dr. Desatnik can quickly obtain precise measurements of oral airway stability and size, allowing him to eliminate any guesswork and increase the chance that the custom oral appliance will be as effective as possible.
Intraoral cameras improve our ability to examine the hard-to-see areas of your teeth and gums. For this, we will insert a miniature camera into your mouth. As we move the device, the camera will transmit images directly to a nearby computer screen. Dr. Desatnik uses intraoral imaging to check the back teeth and throat for signs of decay, infection, and oral cancer. This technology helps make accurate and precise diagnoses.
Cone beam technology (CBCT) is another form of digital imaging. Similar to x-rays, cone bean scanners allow us to examine the anatomical structures of your mouth. By using an imaging device that rotates around a patients head, we can take between 150 to 600 X-rays in under a minute. These images are then uploaded to a powerful computer where they are compiled into a 3D image.
The Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) system allows us to take a 3-D digital x-ray of your oral structures in an extraordinarily precise and detailed way. This advanced imaging technology creates a high-definition picture of your bone structure and airway that enhances Dr. Desatniks ability to analyze, diagnose, and create a treatment plan that has the best chance of yielding the best fit and most effective results from your customized oral appliance. The place is not too far from where I live. It is a bit of a hike walking about 2 miles and there are no side walks but it is a short ride by bike. Parking can be a challenge with not many places to lock my bike close by the office. But, my visits are very quick. I don't have much of a reference in terms of service considering I only started seeing a dentist regularly this year. They are getting my teeth and gums healthy again and each visit hasn't run me more than $100. Of course most of the cost is covered by insurance and chose this office because it is covered by my insurance - plus I don't have to walk very far to get there. I was finally able to get my wisdom teeth removed as well as a cracked tooth that I injured more than 2 years ago.

Everyone was friendly and there was no wait. Routine cleaning was the reason for my visit and the hygienist was very good. They listen and will do all to make sure your teeth are healthy.

I ordered a retainer in early Sept. I called about it in mid October. They had not ordered it yet. While I understand things happen...That was not what I heard. I was thanked for calling them back. (I was not calling them back, they had not called me) I told them this was not a call back. That I was wondering about the retainer (I'd paid for it in Sept.) That is when I found out they had not ordered the retainer. That it would take a couple weeks. I told them that my retainer broke last night. (So now I'll sit, without a retainer until the new one comes.) The said the upper retainer will be tight. (Since I no longer have one, again, I paid for them a month ago) I called back a few days later to see if they can direct mail. I live over an hour away now. I'd stayed loyal to them because I like Dr. Desatnik. But I'm going to look for a new dentist. I asked and they are going to direct mail the retainer. But even then, the gal on the phone gave me attitude, I can't believe this. I don't know what I will do going forward for new retainer, but there has to be someway to keep my teeth straight without returning to this dentist office. I'm just so upset.

I cannot be more satisfied with how I am treated as both a patient and a person along with the care I receive from everyone here. Add to this, their entire office and staff have been more than compassionate and understanding towards the fact that I'm transgendered. From the time I started transitioning, their office has made every effort to make sure I was comfortable in more ways than one. When they first met me, or rather I first arrived to their office I had not seen a dentist in 5 years. I was missing pieces of my teeth and, of course, I had a few cavities among a slew of other escalating issues with my mouth and teeth. Today, if not for the pictures of the past with my mouth and teeth, you would not believe just how bad my mouth and teeth were. It is because of this fact that I would not go anywhere else. I truly hope between Christine and Dr. Desatnik that they have at least another 20 years left or so because I could not imagine going anywhere else. Thank you.

My experience with chagrin highland dental was THE WORSE experience I have had ever with a dentist. The dental assistant who took my x-rays was very rude and unprofessional. Their communication was very poor as a whole. First dentist I ever went to that took close to 50 x-rays and wouldn't clean my teeth. They instead was trying to sell me a dental service I didn't need and I left without getting the service I really wanted:. My teeth cleaned. I instead got a bill because they took more x-rays then they were supposed to. BTW...I have A1 dental insurance.......I hope this helps whomever reads this.

This was the most thorough first dental visit and evaluation I've ever had. The building and office was beautiful, all the staff was friendly and wonderful and every step along the way was explained. They even showed me the pictures and images and explained everything to me tooth by tooth. Dr. Desatnik was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
