Comprehensive, affordable dental care for all ages has been a mainstay in Centreville for over 30 years. In 1983, Dr Richard S. Shields set up this practice in order to provide honest, comprehensive dentistry in a welcoming environment. Dr. Chad Thorpe began working with Dr. Shields in 2013. After 2 successful years of associateship, Dr. Chad and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Libby Thorpe, took ownership with the shared goal of providing excellent care to all who walk through the door. With Drs. Thorpe and their amazing team, you will experience modern dentistry in a caring, friendly environment. Our mission is to help each patient attain a beautiful, functional smile, and enjoy great oral health for years. We educate all our patients on the important connection between dental health and total body health and well-being.

  • Dr. Chad ThorpeDentistDr. Chad ThorpeDentistA native of Southwestern Michigan, I grew up on Diamond Lake in Cassopolis. With apologies to native Michigan, I chose to complete my four years of additional training at Ohio State University, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. During dental school, I spent much time at various public health centers in underserved communities. In 2010, I traveled to Africa to provide dental treatment to people in Kampala, Uganda. It is my hope that with a positive attitude, passionate concern for patients, and commitment to constant improvement in the dental profession I can help to create a wonderful experience at CFD.

Later in life, I decided to go Everest Institute in Kalamazoo, where I graduated as a Medical Administrative Assistant. I truly enjoy working here at Centreville Family Dentistry. I have a special place in my heart for our special needs patients, as we make them feel comfortable and treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. I have 3 wonderful daughters, my oldest of which has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. I enjoy arts and crafts, sewing, and am currently working on improving my health and my familys health through diet and exercise. I also love fishing, although I rarely get to go.

Worst experience at a dentist office in my 30 years. I show up to my children's appointments yesterday and was told in office they cancelled our appointments that I had at least 6 months in advance! No prior notice to let me know they were cancelling them. Just cancelled and given away. The front staff were super rude and unprofessional. A complete waste of my time, gas and money. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

I had my 6 month cleaning today and Rachel was my hygienist. She did an exceptional job. I didn't feel a thing. She was very friendly. I highly recommend her.

Hey its 2019 everyone! Just called and no mask requirements and no limit to patrons in the lobby! Let's pretend covid does not exist while Mi leads the nation in cases per capita! #theddsknowsthisanddoesntcare And they are selling masks , not for resale at 1000% mark up, Ha . Just deplorable...someone should let the IRS know? Dr Blank?

So much more than a general dental clinic. I have learned so much about my whole mouth, how I breath & how it all works together. When it works correctly great but when it doesn't why & what can I do to correct it. Wholistic whole health!!!

Recently, a family member of mine, secured an appointment, to have their dentures fixed. The family member secured an appointment on July 26, and paid 113.00 in advance, for an Aug 23 appt. We had phone issues, during that near month, time frame, and this pathetic business, told my family member, they tried to contact her, via telephone. My family member showed up, for the appointment today, and was informed the appointment was cancelled. No other attempt, by mail, was attempted. During the time, from whenever they cancelled the appointment, till today, they held onto my family member's money. They refunded the money. However, this business has no ethics. Given my extensive business education, I will use every available resource, to see that this business is held accountable. I will be contacting the Consumer Affairs Bureau, and if necessary, the Better Business Bureau. Snotty comments from your establishment, will only harden my resolve. I would suggest not doing business, with this shoddy establishment.

I love this place, you'll never catch me visiting any other dental office. The entire team is focused on getting to the root of the problem, not just treating the symptoms. Drs Chad and Libby focus on whole health, and therefore have a very well-rounded knowledge of causes and effects that most doctors wouldn't think to explore. Plus, Drs Chad and Libby themselves took my husband in on an emergency call same day for a 4-tooth extraction when his teeth cracked and caused him a lot of pain. Please don't short change yourself, invest in a comprehensive exam with Dr. Chad. He's a walking encyclopedia, basically the Elon Musk of teeth. Try them out, you won't be disappointed!

Best weight watchers meeting I've ever attended! I hadn't eaten anything before my visit, and I was feeling the need (the need to feed). Just a half hour and 2 shots of novocaine later, and I'm not the least bit hungry! The fear of biting off your tongue while powering through an all veggie on wheat and suffering the same fate as every ancient Egyptian who 'knew too much' is enough to scare anyone off that last piece of cheesecake. But in all seriousness I've definitely found "my dentist." I've had 3 visits now and met much of the staff and everyone is fantastic, friendly and very deeply knowledgeable in their work. They take care of me promptly and carefully. You might say they are the gentle dental. Dr's Chad and Libby are wonderful, everyone is friendly and genuine, and they are flexible in scheduling since my work hours are the same as theirs. Btw, ask about their spa package- the facial treatment is spectacular! My face has never felt this way before!

I have high anxiety from past trauma. The staff has done an amazing job literally taking care of me, during the process, so much as to calling me the next day. I still have much anxiety but they make me feel like I can get through it. And, I'm on my way to a beautiful smile. I couldn't be more thankful for a heartfelt care and even affordable care. I feel like I'm finally get the help I need from family. -Hope Sabin
