I grew up in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania where I was fortunate to have a large, close, loving family and a lot of good friends. From an early age, with the nurturing of my father, I developed a love and appreciation for Pennsylvania's woods. The mountains and seasons of central Pennsylvania bless us with some of the most beautiful surroundings in the world.
Growing up in Wellsboro, I enjoyed all the pleasures and privileges that came with living in a small country town. My father practiced dentistry in Wellsboro for thirty years. He was an important role model in my life, showing me the importance of balancing work and family.
I graduated from Wellsboro High School (go Green Hornets!) in 1988 and began my undergraduate education at the University of Pittsburgh. While there, I spent a season competing in the high jump on the track team before I stopped to focus on my studies. In 1991 I graduated with a bachelor of science in biology and entered Pittsburgh's dental school in the fall.
Dental school was the best, and the hardest, four years of my academic career. Some of my best friends today are the people I met in dental school. I will never forget how nervous I felt when working on that first patient, the amount of responsibility placed on me as a student, and the course material that had to be mastered in four years.
While at dental school, I realized my interest in surgery and, with the encouragement of my father, I entered a medical doctorate integrated oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Texas Health and Science Center at San Antonio in 1995. Dental school was the best preparation I could have had for medical school. I graduated from medical school with Alpha Omega Alpha honors in 1998.
My residency program included one year of general surgery and extensive anesthesia training. It took place at a level one trauma center that was the primary referral center for complex facial injuries for all of south central Texas. I saw many patients with multi-system trauma that required coordination of care with such services as neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and critical care. The oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio has built a reputation for strong training in orthognathic (jaw repositioning), facial cosmetic, facial reconstructive, and sleep apnea surgery. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons recognize this program as one of the finest and most comprehensive training programs in the country.
On February 24th, 2003, I opened my practice, Centre Oral & Facial Surgery, in State College. I am involved in many professional activities and in 2009 was named as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Please take the time to review my resume.

Dr Kewitt is an outstanding physician. I had a great experience with he and his staff. I had a difficult surgery but he handled better than I could image. He is very gentle and is always asking if you're okay. The results have been excellent!

I had two (2) molars removed last year after having one (1) removed else wear. Best dental experience I ever had. No PAIN Wonderful dentist and support personnel.

I received outstanding care by Dr. Kewitt and his assistants Debra and Joe. The consultation prior to the procedure was very much appreciated. Through an intelligent and informative discussion, Dr. Kewitt reviewed my records, educated me about my situation along with making recommendations. He took the time to answer all of my questions. I felt confident that Dr. Kewitt had care for my best interest in mind. The receptionist and Amy were wonderful as well. The office had the air of calm and competence which was such a contributing factor in helping to lower my anxiety. Thank you Dr. Kewitt for your care and expertise.

They requested a mandatory expensive consultation for a routine procedure even if I had a referral from my dentist . Thus I opted to go to another surgeon where I was seen in a few days without any preliminary consultations. To put it into perspective, I paid for the entire extraction procedure LESS than the fees they requested just for the initial consultation .

One star for being punctual. There was too much focus on maintaining a schedule, and not enough on patient care. It was apparent my case was only a case, and there was little planning ahead. I had extra x-rays done, despite my dentist already having sent in a copy. 5 minutes after they were taken, they took a physical look at my teeth which nullified the x-rays. I was still charged. The poor communication strung me along for over a year.

The receptionist was really disrespectful to me both times we visited. My boyfriend was the patient. He was very confident in the doctor and had no complaints but my experience was anything but confidence boosting. When I asked the receptionist about joining my boyfriend in recovery she looked like I spit in her face and gave me attitude before turning back to my boyfriend with a smile. I'm glad my boyfriend had a good experience but I question the choice the receptionist. I understand that I'm not the patient but I felt so disrespected.
