Dr. Fred Sakamoto is a specialist in periodontics and implantology. His focus is on non-invasive and surgical treatment of gum disease and dental implants that can replace single or multiple missing teeth, or even teeth in one day.
Dr. Fred Sakamoto became interested in dentistry and periodontics during his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology. He continued his studies at The Ohio State University where he received a Degree in Dental Science. Then, he carried out a residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. From there, he returned to OSU where he earned a Certificate of Periodontology. Lastly, he furthered his knowledge of his craft at the Midwest Implant Institute in Lewis Center, Ohio.
After the completion of his education, Dr. Sakamoto has worked as an associate clinical faculty member at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He is currently a faculty member in the Columbus State Community College Dental Hygiene Department, a consultant for the Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic, and a doctor at his private practice: Central Ohio Periodontics.
Dr. Sakamoto is a member of The American Academy of Periodontology, The Ohio Academy of Periodontists, The Columbus Academy of Periodontists, The American Dental Association, The Ohio Dental Association, The Columbus Dental Society, The Dawson Academy, and The Academy of Osseointegration.
Outside of all of these responsibilities, Dr. Sakamoto still finds time to participate in other specialist groups. Previously, he was a peer reviewer for the Columbus Dental Society, the President of the Ohio Academy of Periodontists, and a member of the Ohio Dental Association Council of Dental Specialists. Currently, he is the Director of the Central Ohio Study Club, the Director of the Dental Hygiene Study Club, a member of the Spear Study Club, an Advisor for Advanced Dental Concepts and the Director of the Dawson Study Club.
Dr. Rashee Mannava is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated magna cum lade from Youngstown State University. She then graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where she was awarded The American Academy of Periodontology Predoctoral Outstanding Achievement Award and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honors Society. She spent the next three years completing specialty training in periodontics and dental implants at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. As a result of her exemplary leadership skills, she was elected by her peers to be Chief Resident of the residency program. She also earned a degree of Masters in Dental Science.
After finishing her training, Dr. Mannava went on to private practice in periodontics. She also achieved her periodontology board certification making her a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Mannava is proficiently trained in non-surgical and surgical treatment of periodontal disease and soft tissue grafting. She also has extensive experience in the placement of dental implants, bone regeneration, and sinus augmentation.
Dr. Mannava is excited to begin practicing in central Ohio and is dedicated to delivering the highest quality dental treatment. She places an emphasis on prevention and strives to provide her patients with the best treatment options available for their long term oral health.

Brigitte joined our team in 1986 as a chairside assistant then transitioned to Front office in 1991. She has over 30 years of dental experience and enjoys the variety that comes with the position and helping patients with every aspect of their dental treatment. Her and husband of 23 years have 2 children who attend Ohio University studying Nursing and Chemical Engineering. She enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, gardening, traveling and family life.
Amie joined our team in 2021 bringing many years of experience in the periodontal field. Previously working as both a chairside assistant and front desk representative, she enjoys all aspects of the dental field. Amie enjoys interacting with patients and strives to make each patient feel comfortable and at home. In her free time, Amie loves spending time with her family, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors.
Marcy came to Central Ohio Periodontics with 39 years of dental office experience. She enjoys meeting new patients every day and attending classes to continue her education in the dental field. In her free time you can find Marcy cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and taking weekend trips to Cleveland to spoil her two granddaughters.
Kelly recently joined the team at Central Ohio Periodontics. Kelly enjoys educating patients and makes sure each patient has a positive, comfortable experience. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She likes fishing, spending time outside, attending her nephews sporting events, and taking her two dogs on hiking trails.
Amber joined the team at Central Ohio Periodontics in July 2021. She enjoys being able to help patients feel good about their oral health and smile confidently. Amber enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and most of all her son. She likes participating in family events and keeping her son entertained by taking him to parks and doing other toddler-friendly activities.
Nick is currently a senior at Ohio State University and will graduate with a BS in Biology. He is applying to dental school and looks forward to a career in the dental field. Nick loves learning new aspects of dentistry every day and connecting with each patient. When not at work, Nick enjoys cheering on the Buckeye football team and going to the gym.
Amy graduated in 1999 from Owens Community College in Toledo with a Dental Hygiene/Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary Degree. She worked a year in General Dentistry, then joined Dr. Sakamotos periodontal team. Amy takes time with her patients to educate and answer questions. She loves patient interaction and helping to achieve healthy smiles. Working 3-4 days a week leaves time to spend with her husband and three children. Jazzercise is Amys favorite stress reliever.
Wendi Hefner graduated in 1997 from Sinclair College and has been practicing dental hygiene, focusing on the practice in periodontics for almost 25 years. She went back to Ohio State University in 2007 to obtain her licensure in administrating local anesthetic. Wendi joined the Central Ohio Periodontics team in January 2021. She enjoys country living, four-wheeling, bible studies, paddle boarding, yoga, and weight training in her free time.
Ashley joined the team after graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. Her favorite aspect of her position is focusing on patient education to help patients reach a healthy smile. In her spare time, Ashley likes to cheer on the Buckeyes and spend time with her family and friends.
Donna graduated from The Ohio State University in 1989 with a BS degree in Health Information Management. She has been with the office since March 2016 and loves the various projects she gets to work on! In her spare time, Donna enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids. She likes boating, reading, skiing and watching movies.
Stacey has worked in administrative business since 1994 and in the dental field since 2007. Stacey comes to our practice with valuable organization and computer skills. The best part of her job is working with a hardworking and dedicated team. In her spare time, Stacey enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and their 3 children.
