Central Nebraska Orthodontics - Orthodontist in Grand Island, NE

When meeting with a patient at theinitial visit, Dr. Meier carefully assesses the personsclinical situation and personal treatment goals. Using this information, and the detailed diagnostic imaging, hedesigns the individuals treatment plan.

Beyond aesthetics, he focuses on improving the patients bite, function, and oral health. This ensures each patient achieves his or herbest smile: one thats healthy, beautiful, and filled with confidence.

Before practicing orthodontics, Dr. Meier attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where he received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. In 2015, he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, from which he graduatedwith honors.

As soon as he finished dental school, Dr. Meier moved to the University of Colorado for a 30-month residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Upon successful completion, he was awarded a Master of Science in dentistry and his specialty certificate in orthodontics.

Through continuing education, he stays abreast of the latest advances in technologies, techniques, and materials. He is an Invisalign-certified provider and highly proficient in the use of clear aligner therapy, having completed the Aligners Intensive Fellowship in 2020. He is also proficient in the use of traditional braces, and self-ligating braes.

When he is not delivering excellent patient care at the office, Dr. Meier enjoys spending time with his wife Lauren and three daughters: Gabi, Grace, and Kate. He also likes hiking and reading, when he can find a spare and quiet moment.

From visittovisit, Dr. Meier and our team see our patients transform. People who began treatment feeling self-conscious about their teeth and hiding their smile begin to open up. We see how they walk a little taller, chat more comfortably with fellow patients and us, and begin to smile and laugh without covering their face.

Orthodontic treatment is an investment of your time, energy, and resources. It is worthwhileto select an orthodontic practice that offerspersonalized care, state-of-the-art technology,leading-edge techniques, and a people-centered environment.

  • Our Philosophy: At Central Nebraska Orthodontics, we believe in taking the time to get the job done right. We believe that improving peoples smiles, fixing their bite, dealing with skeletal malformations and growth discrepancies, and taking care of airway and breathing problemscan have a huge impact on peoples lives.
  • People-Oriented Care: Our doctors and team members are experienced professionals. We are also warm, approachable, and friendly:thriving on the relationships we build with each patient and their family. We get to know everyonepersonally, and want our patients to know their values, time, hard-earned money, and life goals are important to us.
  • Personalized Treatment:By rejecting the idea of cookie-cutter orthodontics, we tailor treatment to a patients needs. Through a detailed diagnostics process, and spending time learning a persons concerns and desires, we are able to craft the ideal approach that is efficient andcomfortable, and delivers beautifully healthy, lasting results.
  • Affordable Orthodontics: An independent practice, we make treatment affordable for patients on a budget or with a whole family to treat. We do this without compromise:providing a high-quality experience, and the best processes and materials, for perfect finished smiles.
  • An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has received two to three years of additional training and experience. Your orthodontist is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure, and improve the function of your smile.

If you want to improve the look and feel of your smile, then any age can be a great age to see the orthodontist. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of seven; however, orthodontic treatment is not exclusive to children and teens, with about one in every five orthodontic patients being over the age of 21. Whether you're considering treatment for yourself or for a child, any time is a good time to visit the orthodontist.

  • Keep your retainer clean, too, by brushing it gently with a toothbrush and toothpaste. You may also soak it in denture cleaner as instructed by your orthodontist. Do not put your retainer in boiling water or in the dishwasher.
  • Avoid sticky and chewy foods (caramel, chewing gum, gummy bears), hard foods (hard candy, nuts, ice cubes), or any foods that could possibly get stuck in your braces (corn on the cob, soft bagels, ribs, taffy, etc.).
  • The amount of time spent in braces will vary depending on the individual patient, because every smile responds differently to treatment. Treatment times can take anywhere between six and 30 months, but most standard treatments take about 22 months.

With braces, you should brush your teeth at least three times a day to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy and clean. Brushing regularly will help remove any food that may be caught between the braces. You should also floss daily to get in between your braces where your brush isn't able to reach. Your orthodontist can show you how to properly brush and floss once your braces are placed.

Yes! In fact, it's even more important that patients receiving orthodontic treatment visit their dentist regularly. With braces, food may be caught in places that your toothbrush can't reach. This causes bacteria to build up that can lead to cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease. Your dentist will work closely with your orthodontist to make sure that your teeth stay clean and healthy while wearing braces.

Playing an instrument or a contact sport may require some adjustment when you first get your braces, but wearing braces will not stop you from participating in any of your school activities. If you play a contact sport, it is recommended that you wear a mouthguard to protect your braces or appliance.
