When the receptionist said she couldn't help me, she just hung up.

I told the administrative staff repeatedly that I needed to verify insurance coverage before my cleaning. I was clear that I could only do a visit if it was covered by insurance. I was told to head back to start my appointment and halfway through some x-rays, that I hadn't asked for, I was told my insurance wouldn't cover the visit. I was wasked to pay 145$ out of pocket for a couple of x-ray photos I didn't even ask for. I later, called to explain the situation and instead of understanding that I had used measures to avoid this exact situation, she blamed me for the mishap. Since then, i've called and the staff has confused the issue by not listening and being focused on arguing and adding extra details that never happened. The last call I had I was talked to with a patronizing tone before being hung up on twice. Dr. Elwood seems like a super cool guy but his staff is a dealbreaker for me. Update: I just called to pay the 145$ dollar x-ray bill and Susie started lecturing me about how I was rude, I let her know I feel like she was rude as well but I didn't call to discuss that and just want to pay my bill. She went ahead and hung up on me again.

Dr. Elwood has been my primary dentist growing up and some of my adult life since moving out of state. I have had a excruciating time having to find new dentists that live up to Dr. Elwood's professionalism and expert care for his patients. I even flew back down to have some work done! And for you retired/Active duty military folks he accepts Tri-care.
