As an orthodontic specialist, Christine DeMarti or Dr. Chrissy understands how important a beautiful smile is and how it can impact your everyday life. At a very young age Dr. Chrissy knew she wanted to be a dentist. After finishing her braces treatment when she was 13 she felt a surge of confidence, and from there she was set on her path to becoming not just a dentist, but an orthodontic specialist.
Dr. Chrissy began her education at the University of Michigan where she obtained her Bachelors Degree. She then moved to Boston to obtain her doctoral degree in Dentistry at Boston University. Following that she made the move to the beautiful state of Colorado to finish her training at the University of Colorado.
Though she has been practicing for many years, Dr. Chrissy decided to open up her own practice with the desire to use cutting edge all digital technology. With a digital scanner, 3d printer and beyond, you will see the latest and greatest of what is available in orthodontics. Dr. Chrissy is always taking continuing education courses to stay on track with what is next and is so excited to treat you and your kids!
In her free time Dr. Chrissy loves to be with her husband Jens and two daughters Amelia and Eloise. Dr. Chrissy has a very large family who lives in the area, which includes many nieces and nephews who she enjoys seeing as much as possible! Jens is a cancer biologist and professor at Michigan State. Their favorite activities include drinking coffee and going to Crossfit!
Its more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment. Watch the video below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
What can you eat? Lets talk about what you shouldnt eat! For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables. Before long, youll be able to bite a cucumber again. But youll need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as youre wearing braces.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for 3 5 days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headache or discomfort. The lips, cheeks and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the braces. We will supply wax to put on the braces in irritated areas to lessen discomfort.
To successfully complete orthodontic treatment, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaws can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Lack of cooperation following instructions and damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time so please follow instructions.
When I was ready to have kids, I worried about how it would affect my ability to work as a practitioner. As I sit here and reflect on this with my 5-year-old and 2-year-old, Ive realized its made me better! I would never have guessed that back then. Why do I think it made me better? As a mom, I understand the juggle of being a parent, I treat kids how I would want me own to be treated, I respect when parents question what we are doing as they only want whats best for their kids, and I do my best to provide a safe and friendly environment to our families.
Beyond that, I see myself through the lens of a parent daily when I make treatment plans. What would I want for my child? THE BEST! A caring provider that listens, spends time with my family, is compassionate, is data driven and up to date on the latest in healthcare ideas and technology. They do not over treat or offer treatment that is not needed just to make more money. This is exactly what drove me to open CD Orthodontics and provide the care that I know every family deserves!
I can relate to parents questioning treatment or coming in with concerns that they want addressed. As parents, we can tell a practitioner something is wrong, they may tell us it isnt, but we can still feel its wrong, and maybe seek a second opinion. As orthodontists (same with physicians) we were trained in school, but research and data changes over the years. I am constantly trying to stay on target with new research and never minimize parents concerns. While I dont feel like doctors need to be trained in every single area, we need to be open to referring to a specialist when appropriate. Instead of saying thats not a thing, dont worry about it.
I remember when I was in residency thinking, I cant have kids right now, I need to be in school and finish my program and then graduating and getting a job and still worrying. I wish I could go back and tell myself how being a mom would make me a BETTER practitioner and person. I own my own practice where I provide the type of care that I feel families and patients deserve. And if someone feels that I cannot offer what they are looking for, there are many other practices in the area that have multiple doctors and locations. For me, I love the one-on-one care I provide to each family.

We did consultations at 3 places. Dr. Chrissy's treatment plan, cost, availability, cleanliness, time line and flexibility were better than the others. She was my number one pick. When I asked my 10 year old who he wanted, he also picked her. We had the consult and in 3 weeks he started treatment, we could have started the same day which impressed me. My son is very happy with how his smile looks only 1 month into treatment.

We are so pleased with our experience at CD Orthodontics. From the moment you walk in the door, you are instantly greeted and feel welcome in their beautiful office. Dr. Chrissy is very friendly, works well with children, and takes the time to explain all options to you. We have no issues getting appointments that work with our schedules either. We also love how active their office is in the community, they have supported our local school many times. My children feel safe and comfortable going in for appointments, which is a huge plus. I could not be happier with our experience, highly recommended!

Dr. Chrissy is an awesome orthodontist. She is so great with our son. He is very comfortable with her with his expander working towards his Phase 1 braces. I highly recommend CD Orthodontics to anyone living in the Novi, South Lyon, Lyon Township, New Hudson, Brighton, Wixom area! Updated for 2022: She is still doing awesome with our son as he is about to get his Phase 1 braces off soon!

We switched to CD Ortho and could not be happier. Having 2 kids who did phase 1 at a different office, the service is so much better. My daughter feels very comfortable and we can get in and out quickly with no long waits. No hidden costs at the end with the final retainer Fees. Dr. Demarti and team are transparent about all costs up front. They will be getting another patient once my youngest is ready for phase 2.

I have two children under Dr. Chrissy's care currently, and I have nothing but great things to say! Dr. Chrissy has been the first provider to take one of my children's health concerns seriously, and helped us to properly address it. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Chrissy and her office! I have 2 kids in treatment with her right now and they are doing great! They are always happy to see her at their appointments and they are super excited to see the transformation with their teeth! The best neighbor! Update 10.22.21. I'm now a patient too. And my son came here for his first ortho evaluation when he was 6. Continues to be the best neighbor too. So many orthodontic offices are going "corporate." Dr. Demarti continues to be the "Mom and Pop" office which gives me the individual service and care that I'd want from my doctor. Love ya guys!

Dr Chrissy makes getting braces easy....our 11 year old got braces this January and she made him feel at ease and comfortable with the process and also with adjustments as well. She's always there to answer any questions we have or to troubleshoot any mishaps, and we love that she has hours that work for our family! If you are in the South Lyon/Novi/New Hudson/Milford area, she's the best choice for an orthodontist! and she's easily the fittest orthodontist in Michigan!

My son and I both began treatment with Dr. Chrissy a couple of months ago and we couldn't be happier. Her office is bright, clean, and the location is super convenient. Other members of my family have been in treatment with other orthodontists in the area but after meeting with Dr. Chrissy and her assistant Carrie, there was no doubt in our mind that we made the right decision.
