Dr. Cavalier graduated from Central Cambria High School. Next, he attended college at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and at the main campus where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He then entered dental school at the U. of Pittsburgh where he received his Degree of Dental Medicine. Dr. Cavalier received a number of scholarships and was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He then had the privilege to enter an orthodontic residency at the U. of Pittsburgh. At the completion of his residency, Dr. Cavalier earned an orthodontic certificate, a masters degree in orthodontics and is board certified for the American Board of Orthodontists. The qualifications of an orthodontist that you should look for before starting treatment are those who attended an accredited orthodontic institution that primarily requires three additional years of training after completing four years of dental school. As a specialist in orthodontics, Dr. Cavalier strives for excellence in every aspect of his practice and remains sensitive to the needs of each and every patient.
'I founded my orthodontic practice in 1998 based on my desire to return to my roots (born and raised in the Ebensburg area) and to create great smiles for all ages. My team is dedicated to providing you and your family with professional and personal orthodontic care. We want to improve lives through creating beautiful smiles.
Kim started working for Cavalier Orthodontics in 2001. She grew up locally and graduated from Cambria Heights High School. After graduating she attended school to complete all dental courses and is x-ray certified. An avid Steeler fan, Kim loves spending time with her family and friends. She has enjoyed working in orthodontics over the past years because of the positive difference it makes to have a beautiful smile. One of the things Kim likes most is working with the patients and getting to know them throughout their treatment.
Carol joined the Cavalier Orthodontic team June of 2014. She has extensive experience which dates back to 1978. Having been an orthodontic patient herself, began her lifelong interest in orthodontics. Carol feels the most rewarding part of being an orthodontic technician is working with our patients and seeing the beginning smiles transformed into beautiful smiles.
Nicole started her orthodontic career with Cavalier Orthodontics in May of 2016. She graduated from Northern Cambria High School and with honors from Bradford School of Pittsburgh with an Associates of Science in Dental Assistant. Nicole is x-ray and CPR/basic life support certified.
Monica started working for Cavalier Orthodontics in April 2018. She grew up in Nanty Glo and graduated from Blacklick Valley and attended Mt. Aloysius for medical assistant. Monica is very outgoing and loves working with our patients.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children see an orthodontist at age 7 unless problems are recognized earlier. This early evaluation does not mean that your child is ready for treatment but rather for Dr. Cavalier to check on growth patterns, eruption of permanent teeth and oral habits such as thumb sucking. Early warning signs that may indicate that your child would benefit from early intervention are as follows:
An early examination would allow Dr. Cavalier to determine how and when a particular problem should be treated. This would provide maximum improvement, requiring the least amount of time and giving the greatest benefit. For some patients, if these results are not achieved at an early age they may not be attainable once the face and jaws have finished growing.
Duration of treatment varies greatly from one patient to another depending on specific problems and severity of the problems. Also, the patients' willingness of active participation and the level of cooperation will strongly affect how long the treatment will last. In general, treatment time for those who are in full braces will take between 18 and 24 months on average. We understand that your time is extremely valuable so we can assure you that our methods are effective and efficient to allow you to spend the least amount of time in treatment.
Absolutely not. For patients who can benefit from orthodontic treatment, age is not a factor. The amount of adults that are seeking orthodontic treatment is growing daily. Adults who are in treatment have discovered the great benefits of orthodontic treatment. As long as your teeth are supported by healthy gums and bone you may be a candidate for our care. If your gums and bone are not entirely healthy it does not mean that you would never be a candidate for braces but rather Dr. Cavalier and your family dentist would work together and determine the best approach to give you good oral health, appearance and function of the jaws and teeth. If you have ever been concerned with your smile or bite, please do not hesitate to call our office for an evaluation.
As far as how you would look in braces, we would like to put your mind at ease. Nowadays, it is quite common to see adults in braces. You would fit in nicely with the other orthodontic patients, as the braces are part of everyday life. Furthermore, our office offers clear, ceramic braces that are barely noticeable on your teeth. The new, clear braces are much improved compared to the older clear, plastic braces. The clear braces that we use will not stain and will not break. In addition to the clear braces, we also offer INVISALIGN that is entirely clear without involving traditional braces. Since our appliances will keep the amount of discomfort at a minimum and minimize the inconveniences, we believe that wearing braces will be well worth it to achieve improved confidence and good oral health.
The actual cost of orthodontic treatment varies greatly in terms of the severity of the problems, which ultimately dictates how long the treatment will last. In the past, orthodontic treatment was of the affluent population, however, now it is reachable and affordable to most Americans.

My youngest just completed her treatment and her smile is phenomenal! Her dentist warned me her treatment would be "extensive and expensive". Extensive, yes. Expensive...you can't put a price on confidence. (Her treatment was affordable.)She is also on the autism spectrum and really isn't a people person. She never minded going to her appointments because everyone there is so kind and patient! I highly recommend Dr. Cavalier and his staff!

Doctor Cavalier and all his staff are absolutely wonderful! I was there as a kid myself and I was impressed then. Just had my oldest daughter go through the process of having braces, they did such a wonderful job! And I'm truly amazed of the new tech now vs. when I was a kid. Definitely the best for that on their end! Really looking forward to bringing my other daughter for the same wonderful experience!

My son had braces by another orthodontist. He took a huge growth spurt after his braces were removed and the teeth on the right side of his mouth did not touch. His teeth were also off center. The orthodontist felt the only solution was jaw surgery. I went to Dr. Cavalier for a second opinion. He felt jaw surgery would definitely correct the problem. However, I was not on board. He suggested Invisalign as an option but was not sure of the results. I agreed to try and would not hold him responsible. Dr. Cavalier talked with Invisalign and I feel he took my son on as a personal project. The results are a 10/10. I could not be any happier and neither could my son. He settles for nothing less than perfection. I was also very pleased with the results of my other 2 sons. I highly recommend Dr. Cavalier and his friendly staff.

We started here with the first of our 5 children who NEEDED braces. It became quickly clear after her braces came off that the rest of them would get braces whether they need it or not. Our oldest thought his teeth were fine until he saw the results from his sister's braces and now has a gorgeous smile as well. We're on child #3 of 5 now and can't wait to see his results. Not only is Doctor Cavalier a perfectionist, but his staff are wonderful at encouraging compliance which made this job much easier on me! My seven year old was referred to an orthodontist by our dentist! I was told by my friends and family to choose dr cavalier and his staff! I am not disappointed! Such a wonderful orthodontist and team! They always go to the extreme to make my daughter and I comfortable. They make sure I am informed every step of the way! Dr cavalier personally text me to see how my daughter was doing after placing in her expander which was an amazing gesture!! The girls are so kind and patient! Love the whole office

We are very pleased with the treatment our son received from Dr. Cavalier and his staff. They were very friendly and anytime we had a question or had any issues they took care of it right away. One time in particular he had an issue on Christmas eve with a wire coming loose. I called Dr. Cavalier and he helped talk us through what to do until we could get to the office. We can't thank Dr. Cavalier enough for giving our son such a nice smile. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an Orthodontist.
