Dr. Cater graduated from the Ivy League School, University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and has been an orthodontist ever since. His Doctor of Dental Study (DDS) was from the University of the Pacific in 1989.

While in Philadelphia he met his wife and future business partner, Dr. Donna Galante, convincing her to move to California (where he was born and raised). It wasnt easy, but she agreed and they have been in practice together ever since!
Besides changing smiles and changing lives, Dr. Cater is the proud dad to two fantastic teenagers, Carina and Nate. He enjoys everything related to new technology, golf, skiing, travel and taking his two labs to Folsom Lake for a hike and swim.
The ability to change people's lives by changing their smiles forever is so rewarding. I feel so blessed to be able to provide not only fabulous smiles but also more self confidence and better dental and overall health to our patients!
Dr. Donna Galante is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she received both her dental degree and her specialty certification in Orthodontics. For eight years, Dr. Galante was a clinical instructor at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Orthodontics where she was twice voted Instructor of the Year.
She is currently a guest lecturer at Harvard University School of Dentistry where she is teaching orthodontic residents how to effectively and predictably treat patients with Invisalign. A faculty member for Invisalign since 2011, she has lectured both nationally and internationally to 10,000 doctors and their teams, sharing her expertise with the Invisalign orthodontic appliances.
Dr. Galante is a board-certified orthodontist in private practice for over 30 years. She is also an Ivy League guest lecturer and published author, helping educate other orthodontists about Invisalign techniques and applications.

I just finished my orthodontic treatment after 2 years, and would recommend this place above all others. The staff is very friendly and professional. They do a great job explaining the process to their patients, and are very experienced.

I have been extremely pleased during my whole experience at Cater Galante Orthodontics. The staff is professional and extremely pleasant. All of them are absolutely wonderful, as are both of the doctors.

The worst part is that I paid for my treatment cost $3,999. up front in full so that I could be given the "Pay-in-Full Discount" of $200. I underwent months of treatment without ever meeting or having a conversation with either Dr. Cater or Dr.Galante. I was never told upfront what my treatment plan was or how my teeth would look along the way or how they would look when I was finished with treatment. It wasn't until I started asking too many questions for the tech to answer (6 months into treatment) that I finally got to meet Dr. Cater, who was obviously in a hurry to do something more important than answer my questions. He was rude to me, but what really mattered was that in the short time I met him he told me that Invisalign could never make the gap in my two front teeth straight or parallel. I left that day (only partially through my treatment plan) and never came back. They didn't even notice that I was gone.....They called me 6 months later to set up an appointment to check on the progress of my treatment. However, they hadn't even given me enough Invisalign trays to last 3 weeks. On their website they pride themselves on being "Respectful to our patients", "Paying attention", and being "Reliable"; If any of that were true at some point, it certainly isn't true now and wasn't the case at all for me. I feel so incredibly taken advantage of. What an absolute complete waste of my hard-earned money that I had been saving for a very long time. If I had met Dr. Cater on day 1 I could have saved all my money. Instead I am feeling a fool.

I highly recommend Cater Galante Orthodontics. My treatment was a short 9 months and my teeth look beautiful! The staff is so friendly they make you feel like family and they offer interest free financing.

Last Thursday evening, my future sone-in-laws permanent retainer, removed itself from his mouth. It was not painful but very uncomfortable. There was an extreme amount of glue remaining. The next morning I set out to find a dentist or orthodontist available to fix, or clean up his mouth. As you are aware for those that live is Grass Valley, dentist or orthodontist on a Friday, impossible. I left messages everywhere. To my surprise, an orthodontist at Cater Galiente, by the name of Craig Christianson, returned my call personally. He happened to be in the office doing paperwork, when he heard my message. He saw us, on a Friday, at 12:30 pm. Repaired and and cleaned up what was left behind. He was kind, he was funny, he made him relaxed, and my son-in-law said it was the best dental or orthodontic appointment he had ever had. I highly recommend Cater Galiente Orthodontics for anyone. Craig was amazing, and gave up his time on a Friday. Wonderful place.

Cater Galante Orthodontics has been outstanding in their commitment to my son's outcome. Having a teenage boy, this was the best and least obtrusive option. I am so impressed with the staff, level of care and support in making sure we get the results we want. Couldn't give a higher recommendation!
