When decay destroys tooth enamel you must come into our practice as soon as possible to remove the decayed enamel so that it doesnt continue to erode the tooth. We often catch cavities during your six-month checkup, but if you notice sudden tooth pain, tooth sensitivity, or a dark spot on your tooth then youll want to come in for an evaluation.
If youre faced with a cavity, its really not the end of the world. Nowadays its easy to restore a tooth after a cavity with a dental filling. Filling these days is made from tooth-colored materials such as composite resin, which looks just like real tooth enamel. We will also pick out the shade of composite resin that most closely matches your tooth so that it blends right in.
Once the decay has been removed, its important to fill these holes in your tooth to restore and re-strengthen it. The best way to do this is often with a dental filling. Composite resin is a putty-like material, which makes it easy for us to shape and mold it in layers to the tooth. We will continue to build up the tooth, layer by layer, with this composite resin. Each layer is molded into place and then hardened directly to the tooth with a laser.

Always a great experience here. And I am quite nervous with dental procedures! The hygienists are gentle with the cleaning and and always friendly. Dr Cataldo has fixed many of my cavities and has been very patient and reassuring. And just today, could not find my dang insurance card! So the receptionist went above and beyond to call the company and get the info!! Love these people!

I was considering coming to this dentist office as a new patient and was looking forward to meeting the dentist but my very negative experience with Zarah over the phone has changed my mind. She was insulting and condescending from the very beginning of our conversation and it only got worse from there. It all came to a head when she insulted me then said to me: "if you're going to insult me then this call isn't going to go well." At that point, I asked to speak to the manager because I didn't appreciate how she was speaking to me. She said she was the manager so I then asked to speak to the dentist as I thought he should be aware of how she had handled my call. I had a fine conversation with the dentist but would not feel comfortable coming to his office knowing I'd have to encounter Zarah. If she acted this way with me over the phone, then I couldn't expect it to be much better in person.

I was afraid to go to the dentist for 10 years. I finally decided it was time to go, and picked this place. Everyone here is so nice and helpful and gentile which has been so nice to have. The assistant held my hand when I had to get my gums numbed which was great! Highly recommend this place.

I have been going to this dentist for many years (5-8 years???) and have always had a good experience. Dr. Cataldo is very professional & up-to-date on medical technology. They are very good at getting you in right at your appointment time, sending reminders before appointments, and the hygienists are really friendly. My husband and my two children also trust Dr. Cataldo. They are great! I would highly recommend this office!

I have been going to Dr. Cataldo for many years because I know that when I go to my appointment that I will see a very professional and courteous staff. He has the latest equipment. His office is a 45 minute drive for me, but I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. I've never had wait past my appointment time. High quality!

The office is in a great location, easy access from Minneapolis and Northwest Suburbs. Always such a warm welcome and appreciative, accommodating staff. I can easily see Dr. Cataldo is invested in his practice from Staff, Office presentation and Technology advancements always in place and up to date. Every time I sit in the dental chair at Cataldo Family Dentistry I am impressed with Dr. Cataldo and his staffs. They have great attention to detail and are meticulous when cleaning and checking my teeth. In addition when Dr. Cataldo tells me I need something done I trust what he says and believe that he has my best interest at heart. Thats refreshing.
