Depending on the age of your child, he or she will either be given a knee-to-knee examination (where your babys head will rest on our doctors knee while their body is on your lap) or a regular exam in the doctors chair.

Your initial exam will include oral hygiene instructions. In most cases, we will also clean their teeth on this visit, and provide an evaluation that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.

Dr. Simkins is a pediatric dentist. He specializes in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, adolescents and those with special healthcare needs.

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.

We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their cavities fixed but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist like Dr. Simkins has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

Dr. Boyd Simkins received his bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in 1998, and graduated cum laude from Creighton University Dental School in 2002. He then received his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin in 2004. Dr. Simkins is Board Certified with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. His education included advanced studies and specialized training in dentistry for children, adolescents and those of all ages with special healthcare needs. His training also specializes in sedation, anesthesia dentistry, and orthodontics.

Dr. Simkins is passionate about helping children, and making their experience as pleasant and fun as possible. He is married and has four children of his own. He loves spending time with his family, playing sports, being outdoors and generally having fun.

I've been taking my kids here for years. Ever since my adult boys were little. My last visit for my 12 yr old was ok. I just felt extremely uncomfortable. The dental assistants were very unprofessional and gossipy. Also, the appointments are so far out. It took 2 months for my daughter to get her cavity filled and by then it was too damaged. I love Dr. Simkins he's one of the best, but I won't be recommending them anymore.

The staff is so friendly, very accommodating and my kids loved it here since their 1st visit. I was so excited after picking this dentist for my kids realizing they do Whole Body Health solutions. This is a one of a kind pediatric dentist in the area.

So conflicted on this dental office. Every single one of the staff that we interacted with was kind and helpful. The dentist who examined my child took the time to talk to me about all my concerns and I was very impressed with the thorough discussion. However, maybe it's just me but the waiting area and office in general just didn't seem clean enough. Large, visible cobwebs and grime/discoloration existed on the walls and furniture. I considered leaving when I saw bugs dangling from the ceiling. The area where patients were being seen luckily, didn't seem as bad. Still, you could see enough ick on the sides of the tables and chairs that I question whether things are getting much more than a surface wipe. I can overlook the floors and fingerprints considering the amount of kids coming through + bad weather lately, but I really hope the rest isn't the usual state of things. Willing to update my review with a higher rating if this gets addressed.

I called today and have never been treated more rudely. My daughter went for a cleaning July 14th. I was out of town so her dad took her. I told him not to schedule any follow-ups since he didn't have my schedule and I would take care of scheduling any needed followups after the appointment. He called me as they were leaving Castle Creek let me know that my daughter has a cavity and I needed to schedule a follow up appointment. I immediately called to schedule it and got their voicemail. I left a message and waited for a call back. 5 days later I still hadn't heard from them so I called again (during office hours) and again got the voicemail and again left another message. Two weeks later I have still not heard back from them so today I call a third time. (Now my daughter is saying her tooth is really hurting.) I called right when they opened and finally got a hold of someone who rudely told me "we don't listen to our voicemails, it says it right in the message". So I let her know the message I heard both times I called did not say that and was not a custom message so they may want to check their voicemail settings. "We would have to hire a full time person to just sit and listen to messages all day if we checked our voicemail," she continued. I'm not sure why they have a voicemail if they're not going to check it. This employee goes on to tell me that the only availability with OUR dentist, the dentist my children have seen for 10 years, is on the first day of school, August 25th at 10am. I told her that's not going to work because my daughter is starting a new school and will not want to miss the first day. I mentioned that she is in a lot of pain and asked for another option. She told me Dr Ray could see her on September 21st. That's nearly two more months for my daughter to be in pain! And the only option is for her to see a dentist we've never even heard of instead of their regular dentist that they know and love?? What?! That just didn't seem acceptable. "No thanks I said, we'll just call our adult dentist and see if they have an opening sooner for her". "That's fine," the employee responded. Not offering any other resolution. Wow! After 10 years and so many referrals what a disappointment to be treated so poorly. I seriously felt like she didn't care at all to lose our business.

I went to get crowns on my teeth. They haphazardly threw around some metal and called it a day. I can no longer tell the difference between the food stuck in my molars and my teeth.

Dr. Simkins is the best! We have been going to him for years and we love him. He is always so kind and funny and really puts the kids at ease. My daughter had a traumatic tooth injury where she knocked out her two front teeth. Dr. Simkins and his staff took such good care of her. Earlier this year we thought we might be moving. When I told my daughter, the one thing that she was most concerned about leaving was her dentist! She was so happy that we ended up staying and could continue to see Dr. Simkins. We totally recommend Dr. Simkins and Castle Creek Pediatric Dentistry!
