Dr. Jared Carter creates beautiful smiles and lifelong confidence from his practice located in both Rainsville and Scottsboro, Alabama. Originally from the small town of Hoboken, GA, Dr. Carter felt right at home moving to the area.I have always felt a strong sense of community in the Rainsville and Scottsboro areas. The people I have met during my visits were so kind and welcoming. When the time came to decide where to open my orthodontic practice, it was an easy decision.
Dr. Carter is completely driven to keep learning, improving, and developing both as an orthodontist and person.Orthodontics is continually evolving, and I want to be able to give my patients the latest and greatest when it comes to their investment in themselves. I attend continuing education courses on a regular basis to ensure each patient is getting the best treatment possible.
Dr. Carter earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry from Berry College in Rome, Georgia; achieving Summa Cum Laude honors. He then completed the dental program at the Medical College of Georgia, where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. After dental school, Dr. Carter continued his education at the University of Alabama at Birminghams 33-month orthodontic specialty program, where he also earned a Masters of Science in Dentistry.
Outside of the office, you can find Dr. Carter spending time with his wife, Emily, who grew up in nearby Fyffe. Together, they enjoy live music, local sporting events, hiking, and hanging with their Goldendoodle, Charlie.
Dr. Carter follows the American Association of Orthodontists recommendation that children visit an orthodontist at the first sign of an orthodontic problem, and no later than age 7. By then, a child has enough permanent teeth to determine whether an orthodontic problem exists or is developing. The goal of early treatment is to correct the growth of the jaw and certain bite problems. Early treatment also helps to make room for permanent teeth to come in properly, lessening the chance of extractions in the future.
Some orthodontic conditions that develop at a young age can have long-term, permanent effects if not treated. Dr. Carter will perform a complimentary exam and discuss with you specifically what your child needs. In most situations, this will simply be to continue to monitor the development of the patients teeth.
Early treatment isnt always necessary. However, interceptive treatment or phase I treatment sometimes allows Dr. Carter to achieve results using methods that are less invasive when employed as a child is growing. Once the face and jaws are fully formed, additional treatment may be necessary. Examples of orthodontic concerns that are sometimes corrected with early treatment include: severe crowding, habits, open bite, deep bite, crossbite, large overbite, underbite, narrow jaws, and severely protruded front teeth.

Dr. Carter and his staff are amazing!! I had Invisalign through Dr. Carter and it went very smoothly. Even when issues arose, Dr. Carter and his staff were very kind and make sure to fix it as soon as possible. My teeth look beautiful and I got my braces off about 6 months ahead of schedule. They always remembered little details about stuff I had told them, things that related both to my treatment and just to my personal life. I'm in another state for college and they were very helpful in accommodating my crazy schedule. I definitely recommend Dr. Carter and his staff for anything orthodontic related!

This summer I was over 2 hours away from my home and my normal orthodontist while serving as a counselor at an Alabama summer camp. On the first day of camp my permanent retainer broke and the office of Dr. Carter fixed it for me free of charge. It was one of the nicest environments I have ever been in and had the friendliest staff. I am so thankful for their willingness to help me. My service was absolutely wonderful.
