Carter are a father and son team that provides a broad spectrum of services at our family-owned dental practice. Carter Family Dentistry provides an array of dental procedures that focus on saving teeth and improving your oral health. To accomplish this, we use state-of-the-art digital x-rays and intra oral cameras which provide us with detailed images. We also are capable of taking in office CBCT dental scans that produce 3D images of a patients teeth and supporting structures. These diagnostic tools aide in patient education and are vital in developing treatment plans that meet a patient's specific needs, while always focusing on maintaining your natural teeth.
We pride ourselves in providing treatment in the most comfortable manner possible. For those patients who find dental treatment to be beyond their level of tolerance, we provide oral and IV sedation, thus assuring anxiety free treatment. Snellville dentist, Dr. Scott Carter, is Georgia Board Certified to administer IV conscious sedation in-office for patients who need surgical extractions, root canals, and other procedures where sedation may be indicated.

Dr. Steve Carter received his DDS degree from Emory University, and he hasbeen practicing dentistry in the area for over 30 years. He knows this is a great community and a wonderful place to raise families. As a matter of fact, Dr. Carter and his wife have raised four children in the community, and their youngest, Dr. Scott Carter, practices dentistry with him.
Dr. Carter holds six patents, and he has done extensive research in sterilization and infection control with particular emphasis in methods and apparatuses using heat independent sterilization. Understandably, infection control and protecting patients from germs are paramount in the practice.
Dr. Carter is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Georgia Dental Association (GDA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the Northern District Dental Society, the Hinman Dental Society, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Gwinnett Challenge Study Club, the Seattle Study Club, and he is an Honorable Fellow of the Georgia Dental Association.
His interests outside of dentistry include hunting, fishing, tree farming, UGA football games, and especially times spent with his children and grandchildren. He has been a member of the Campus Church of Christ for over 30 years.
Dr. Scott Carter received his DMD degreefrom the Medical College of Georgia in 2009. After graduating first in his class, he completed a hospital-based General Practice Residency at the Medical College of Georgia. There he received extensive training in many complex restorative and surgical procedures including dental implant placement/restoration, wisdom teeth extractions, dental alveolar surgery and IV sedation. Dr. Carter is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is licensed by the Georgia Board of Dentistryto administer IV conscious sedation in office.
He currently teaches part-time at the Medical College of Georgia as an instructor in the General Practice Residency, where the latest techniques and concepts are emphasized. Additionally, heis an instructor inthe Dental Implant Course at the Medical College of Georgia. General dentists from around the country attend this course which focuses on the surgical placement and restoration of dental implants.
Dr. Carter was awarded 'Dentist of the Year' at the Gwinnett Healthcare Awards in 2017. He is an active member in the American Dental Association (ADA), the Georgia Dental Association (GDA), the Northern District Dental Society,the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the Hinman Dental Society. Also, he is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, the Gwinnett Challenge Study Club, and a fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).He currently lives in the Atlanta area with his wife, Allison, and their two sons, Harris and Jack. In his free time, he enjoys watching Georgia Bulldog football,playing guitar, tennis, hunting, fishing, SCUBA diving,traveling, and spending time with his family.

We've been using Carter Family for a long time now and they've been wonderful. The staff is patient, knowledgeable, and kind. They all will answer your questions so you feel comfortable and informed about what's going on, and each person I've interacted with has always been professionally excellent and personally courteous.

Love the staff and Dr Carter is an awesome Dentist. My daughter has had some bad experiences with others and because of that has made her reluctant to Dentist vist. However, Dr Carter has won her over and she is now getting all of overdue work done.

After I moved from California, I started going to a different dentistry office nearby. They deceived me by telling me they accepted my insurance when they were not in-network. When my son needed an emergency appt, Carter Dentistry was able to squeeze him in much sooner and were upfront about not being in-network. My son is in the spectrum and he is very picky about who he trusts. Dr. Scott quickly gained his trust and was able to extract a tooth same day. That's not a small feat with my son. That in itself convinced me to transfer all records for my entire family to this office. Today it was my first time being seen here. It was such a wonderful and welcoming environment by the entire staff. Kim, the hygienist, was thorough and super friendly. I saw Dr. Stephen and not surprisingly he is as amazing as his son. So it doesn't matter which one you get, you'll never regret in making this your Family Dentistry.

Feel betrayed.No I do not recommend them,unless you want the police called on you Had waited three months for this appointment and it so happened to be the day after my birthday. And I was very tired.First they took a whole bunch of x rays then said I needed to come back. Well then I left and got in my car and was be about to leave and there was a police officer at my window and said someone called and said I was nodding out. First off they did not have to call the police and waste there time, if they were so concerned why didn't they ask me if I needed to call someone instead of calling the police. Bunch of old ladies that have nothing better to do but call the police on someone. So unless you want the police called on you for being tired I would go somewhere else Which is what I will be doing. I'll be going somewhere else. And no I do not recommend them! And I make lots of reviews and 99%are good but this is the 1%

I was fortunate enough to get squeezed in the day that I called Carter family dentistry for a week-long toothache. Little did I know this impromptu visit would result in a wisdom tooth extraction. The Carters came highly recommended by a relative who's been a patient of theirs for years and I must say, getting a tooth pulled is no joke, but when you're in the hands of the most professional, caring and exceptionally gifted dentists, along with their very charming front desk and nurse staff, it makes it all that much easier to heal. Excellent service!!

Dr. Carter has been my dentist for over 30 years. I was born with "soft" teeth requiring extensive dental work throughout my lifetime. Dr. Carter has performed on me... fillings, crowns, root canals, posts, bridges etc. He is THE most dedicated, caring, competent, professional man I have ever met. And he makes sure he hires staff that also have these qualities. I am so lucky to have found him 30 years ago !

I started going to Dr. Scott when my dentist l had for years said my case was too complicated because l had heart valve issues and was on blood thinners. I have 2 artificial valves so l am not the typical patient. Dr Scott didn't blink an eye at my challenges. He is knowledgeable about heart patients and l know l am in good hands. The staff are sweet and l always leave feeling good. I can tell you l am terrified of dentists so when l say l leave feeling good that means a lot. They also have state of the art equipped rooms and x rays. So you can put your trust in this practice. I drive all the way from Dacula to see him.

Dr. Steve Carter has been my family's dentist for 50 years! I have recommended to many friends and other family members because he is simply the best, most competent dentist. His whole staff is always professional and friendly and makes you feel welcome and at ease. Now that his son, Scott, has joined the practice, there are two equally exceptional dentists in the practice. I trust both Dr. Carters' integrity to guide me in dental procedures and what is best for me.

Outstanding patient service! We are new to the area and were looking for a dentist for our family to continue our dental care. Our 7 year old needed an appointment before school starts in just a few days. We called all of the local "pediatric dentists" which was a complete joke as getting someone on the line requires a full-time job. Just when I started to lose hope, I called Carter Family Dentistry and boy did God know they're exactly who we needed. We received a follow-up call to check on our little one a couple hours after his visit FROM THE ACTUAL DOCTOR!!! Checked our mailbox and they'd sent us a personalized note thanking us for visiting. If you live in the Snellville area and are seeing another dentist, you're doing yourself a disservice!!! I can't wait for my appointment in a few weeks. Thank you Dr. Scott Carter!!!!

When I moved here from Florida, I was in need of a new dentist. My dentist back home was like family to me and I was looking for the same here. After trying another dentist in the area that didn't fit that mold, I luckily came across Carter Family Dentistry. I had my first appointment yesterday and I my experience was very pleasant. From the beginning the staff was very nice and accommodating. I honestly feel like I have found my family dentist. My wife will be visiting soon as well.
