Dr. Kathie Carson and our professional team welcome you to Carson Endodontics. If your general dentist has referred you to an endodontist, we are happy you have considered us for your endodontic needs. Dr. Katherine Carson, D.D.S., M.S. performs hundreds of root canals a year. She has advanced endondontic experience, education and training and is a member of the American Association of Endodontists. Using the latest technology in endodontic treatment, she can help save your natural tooth, avoiding the need for dental bridges or implants.

Dr. Kathie Carson has been practicing Endodontics since 2004. She is a graduate of West Virginia University and completed her endodontic training at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland. Kathie was active duty for over 9 years and a reservist for 3 years.

Her love of dentistry started at an early age when Kathie began working in her fathers dental office in Northern Virginia. The foundation for her passion in endodontics came from her interest in microbiology in undergraduate school.

She has been practicing in the Hampton Roads area for several years. Her decision to open her own practice in Suffolk was due largely in part to her children who are active in various sports. Kathie states, being closer to home allows me to be more involved with my childrens activities. Kathie also loves that she gets to treat and care for patients in and near her community. In her spare time, she enjoys golf and running and even completed a course in an Iron Man competition.

Gums, also called gingiva, are the fleshy, pink connective tissue thats attached to the neck of the tooth and cementum. Pulp is the innermost portion of the tooth. Its made of tiny blood vessels and nerve tissue. When the pulp or soft inner layer becomes inflamed or infected, it can cause severe tooth pain. Bacteria that are associated with very deep restorations, fractures, decay, trauma or periodontal disease may permanently damage the pulp in your tooth thus, resulting in the need of a root canal.
