Dr. Rachel Perentis was born and raised in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. It was there she met her husband, Dr. Greg Perentis. Together, they have two sons, two daughters, a daughter-in-law, and an amazing grandson. Family is very important to them, and this translates into how they run our practices.
Dr. Perentis moved to North Carolina in 2001 and immediately set to work, helping young people acquire healthy smiles. She finds it genuinely enriching to help children gain a positive view of dentistry.
I have two sons, two daughters, and a grandson. All of them have been or still are very active in traveling sports teams so that occupies a lot of my time. I love outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, walking on the beach, swimming, etc. When I make time, I also enjoy crocheting, reading, and painting.
My grandmother is my hero. She raised fifteen kids while working full-time. I remember having the best times when I was at her house even when she didnt have a lot of money. Today at 89-years-old, she is still active in her garden, goes shopping for antiques, loves to dance, and laughs all day.
I cant single out the best day, but I vividly recall the best DAYS of my life. Our family is extremely close and there are eight of us, so whenever we can all be together, we have the best times. Whether its snow sledding in the mountains or just hanging out in the kitchen around the island we always have fun.
Dr. Perentis would describe himself as a big kid at heart. He truly enjoys interacting with our patients and brings in silly things that get a great reaction from the kids. So far this includes a clown nose, funny hats, and movies.
Away from the office, I am probably either outdoors or with my family. I love running and working out, but I also enjoy gardening and yard work. My family really enjoys outdoor activities together. We love swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, white water rafting, and just hanging out together.
I love the movie Patch Adams starring Robin Williams. It is about a man who wanted to go into medicine because he genuinely wanted to help people. He goes out of his way to bring happiness and laughter, and that is how I aspire to be with my patients.
In dental school, we were divided into small groups. My group had one too many so we were asked who would be willing to join another smaller group. I volunteered and that was the first day of getting to know my wife. Everything else that followed has led me to my most prized part of my life: My family.
I have been taking my daughter here since we moved into the area. Everyone is so friendly here and they are pretty good about getting us in and out but still being proficient. Its a great dental office. I would recommend this place. Five stars!

Although we have two offices with two teams, our dentists in Durham and Greensboro, NC serve at both practices. They spend time getting to know ALL our patients, which helps children enjoy consistency of care and feel part of our family.
