Dr. McGinn was born in Coventry, Rhode Island, and attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick. He continued his studies at Providence College, and achieved his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the prestigious Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1987. During the following year, Dr. McGinn completed his General Practice Residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital. He worked as an Associate in New York until finally opening his own practice in Putnam, Connecticut in 1994.
Dr. Walter McGinn is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the Northeastern Connecticut Dental Society, where he is a past President. Dr. McGinn also has the honor of being elected to the Pierre Fouchard Academy, an international organization dedicated to uniting the best dentists around the globe. Dr. McGinn loves his job because he enjoys correcting a dental problem by creating a happy smile.
Dr. McGinn has been happily married to his wife, Dr. Carolyn McGinn, for over 26 years. The couple has three children. Their oldest son is a graduate student in Physics, their daughter is completing her undergraduate degree in secondary education, and their youngest son is a senior in high school. Dr. Walter McGinn enjoys spending time with his family when he's not helping patients.
Dr. Milas grew up in Providence, RI, where she attended Classical High School. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Connecticut in 2000. While a student there, Dr. Milas received several awards, including the Crest Award for Excellence in Dentistry for the Elderly.
Prior to joining Drs. Carolyn & Walter McGinn, Dr. Milas was an Associate Dentist for 18 years in Connecticut and Ohio. She has also held faculty positions at University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and Cuyahoga Community College Dental Hygiene School.
Throughout her career, Dr. Milas has been committed to helping her patients make positive and informed choices regarding their dental health. She also believes strongly in the value of continuing education, to ensure that she provides only the highest quality of care to her patients.
During her free time, you will find Dr. Milas supporting her local animal shelter, traveling with her husband, or enjoying time with loved ones, which always includes at least one senior dog. For Dr. Milas, a longtime member of Holy Trinity Greek Church in Danielson, joining a dental practice in Putnam feels like coming home.
Dr. Jason Hernandez grew up in southeastern Connecticut. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Connecticut with a degree in Molecular Cell Biology. In 2011, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington. After completing a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Lutheran Medical Center in Maryland, he returned to Connecticut.
Dr. Hernandez loves his job because it allows him to find creative solutions to improve people's smiles and oral health. He believes practicing dentistry with care, compassion, and patience will allow him to establish lifelong connections to the community he serves.

What a very KIND and WELCOMING Dental office in the heart of Putnam CT Carolyn and Walter McGinn DMD. They gave me an appointment that was needed. After trying many other dental offices over 3 days prior because of abscesses of two molar teeth. Granted it started on a Friday, but no other office would show me any encouragement of help. They had no appointments and would not accept walk-in's . It didn't matter that my mouth was infected. Then with the most concerned voice on the other end of the phone Monday morning, at the McGinn Dental office I was given an appointment right away per Carolyn McGinn, for Xray , evaluation, and antibiotic. I was seen By Dr. Walter McGinn and Megen the nurse. treated with such understanding and kindness . One day later "today" because of this Dentist office McGinn they sent me to an oral Surgeon for extractions and I can say both teeth are now gone . Thank You Carolyn & Walter McGinn DMD . What you did 'Mattered' .

Our whole family has been going to the McGinns for many years. They are knowledgeable and take care of all dental issues in a prompt , kind and professional manner. Dr. McGinn helped me out at the beginning of the pandemic when the office had to close and I had a toothache. He was very concerned and helpful, communicated with me often and took me right in as soon as the office reopened. We appreciate all of their care.

I had a wonderful visir at the office. Dr. Walter was so friendly and hospitable. He offered me a bottle of water while I waited and explained the treatment plan to me in a way that made sense.

I must have the cleanest teeth in Woodstock. The staff was warm and welcoming on this my first visit, also knowledgeable and professional. They explained each step as it was done. I left with one sensitive tooth filled and learned that brushing with a soft tooth brush is much better for gums than 'scrubbing' with a hard toothbrush.Thank you everyone.

I was sickened when one of my front teeth partially broke off. Dr. Carolyn made an appointment for me right away with Dr. Walter McGinn. In a very short time, he and his assistants recreated the missing section perfectly and painlessly. Dental superstars!

We brought our daughter here for a tooth that was giving her a lot of pain. They took us right in and made her feel right at home. They explained everything to us to make sure we knew what was being done. They also explained it to our daughter in terms she could understand and made sure to answer any questions she had. We would recommend them to everyone.

I have been a patient of the McGinns for over 20 yrs. They have been careful to correctly assess the condition of my teeth as well as any possible health issues. Having had bad teeth since I was a child, I dread dentist appointments. When I moved to the area nine years ago, people enthusiastically recommended Drs. McGinn. I went and was as pleased as I was told I would be. Every visit is as pleasant as a visit to the dentists can be for me. What spurred me to write a review finally, though, was my experience of last week. I had called to make an appointment to replace a crown and through some confusion when I arrived, they were not expecting me. However, they took the time to fit me in and get the work (more than just a routine cleaning but not an emergency by any stretch of the imagination) done. I can't imagine how much that inconvenienced Dr. Walter and the technician who assisted him, but they did it without question!
