We use a suite of leading-edge dental tools and technologies at CarolinasDentist to provide the dentistry of tomorrow, today. Your best experience is our top priority, and our state-of-the-art technology allows us to enhance your comfort, keep you safe and in great health, and maximize your time with us. Your smile will say it all!

Digital radiography (digital X-ray) is the most efficient and comfortable way to take dental X-rays. It uses electronic sensors instead of traditional film, which means they can be viewed immediately (no waiting for processing!). Another benefit is that theyve been shown to emit less radiation than traditional X-rays (radiation reduced 80-90%).

Our cone beam X-ray rotates around your head to get a high-definition, 3D view of your mouth, jaw, and neck. Such a comprehensive, detailed look is extremely useful when planning complex treatments like dental implants.

You dont have to deal with the uncomfortable process of getting those goopy impressions taken anymore. We use iTero to take precise digital impressions of your teeth. In just a couple of minutes, well have a 3D model of your mouth to show you and use for treatment planning.

The sooner we spot concerns, the sooner well be able to prevent further damage and be able to use more conservative treatments. With CariFree, we can detect cavities in their earliest stages (like ones hidden from the naked eye) using its laser technology.

Have you ever wanted to see whats happening inside your mouth with your own eyes? Observing and understanding whats going on with your teeth and gums is vital to feeling confident with your level of dental care. It also helps you take a more active role in your own treatment plan, which is what we want for you! We use intraoral cameras to take pictures and video of your mouth and then project them onto a screen, so you can see what we see for yourself.

Using lasers isnt just for science fiction. Theyre an incredibly helpful tool in modern dental clinics. Soft tissue lasers treat issues such as gum disease with precision, resulting in a more comfortable procedure overall and a speedier recovery time. Talk about your win-win! Todays hard tissue lasers have replaced those noisy, vibrating dental drills of yesteryear, which were the cause of much fear and anxiety about the dentists office. In fact, these leading-edge lasers have even eliminated the need for anesthetic use. And thats another win for you!

It can be stressful to have a dental problemafter all, our teeth are what help us chew, speak, and smile with ease. Its a tough issue to hide, and thats where CarolinasDentist comes to your aid. Our good news is that there are a variety of treatments that restore damaged, decayed, or missing teeth, and our dental care team is motivated to solve any issues for you. Well bring you in to see whats going on and lay out options for you, and youll have the final say in how you want to proceed. Our team always has your best interests at heart, and were committed to getting your smile back to great health!

Lets say youve received the news that you have a cavity. Nobody wants to hear that, but if you do, we can stop the decay from causing additional damage by placing a dental filling there. We offer a range of different fillings, including amalgam (silver), gold, composite resin (tooth-colored), and porcelain (tooth-colored), depending on your needs. This simple procedure doesnt take long at all. Youll be back to your great smile in a snap!

Dental crowns cover the crown of a tooth, acting as a cap, and thats how they get their name. We employ them to restore decayed, worn down, cracked, and broken teeth. And we always make sure theyre designed to look and fit naturally for you.

Were excited to offer same-day crowns at CarolinasDentist using CEREC, which cuts a multiple-visit procedure down to just one visit. Well take digital impressions of your teeth (no more of those uncomfortable, goopy impression trays), design your custom crown, and send the information to the on-site milling center (no waiting weeks for an off-site lab to do it for us). This modern technology also allows us to make any corrections and adjustments right then and there, saving you time and letting you walk out with a permanent, custom-fit restoration.

Lets say that youre missing one or more teeth. A dental bridge literally bridges the gap to restore you to a bright, natural-looking smile. It also makes it easier to eat and speak naturally, prevents your other surrounding teeth from shifting over into the space, and ensures proper bite alignment. CarolinasDentist offers fixed bridges as well as removable bridges. The first is anchored in place by crowns on either side. The second is attached to the surrounding teeth with a metal framework. Dental bridges are very durable and should last for years, but you may need to have them re-cemented due to normal wear.

If youve lost a number of teeth or have had to get extractions for some reason, that doesnt mean youll never have a great smile again. Not even close! We provide full conventional dentures, partial dentures, and overdentures. We can stabilize them with dental implants so that they fit securely in place. Not sure what you need? Not to worry. Come into our dental clinic and we can discuss which is the best option to restore your mouth to full function, give you back a more youthful appearance, and help you eat and speak with ease again.

There are a number of reasons why you could choose a dental implant. Maybe you just want to replace a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth permanently. You dont want the jawbone to shrink, which it can do without the root of a natural tooth present. Dental implants are a popular solution to this problem. Theyre made up of a small post that acts like a tooth root and a natural-looking restoration on top. Many people say that theyre the next best thing to natural teeth.

Chances are, youve been misinformed about what a root canal entails. Namely a lot of discomfort. But dont let root canals reputation fool you. This procedure is actually an effective way to remove infection (the real thing thats causing you pain) and help save your tooth in the process. During the procedure, we remove any damaged tissue, clean out the area, and seal the tooth from further infection. If youve noticed a toothache, tender or swollen gums, or unusual discoloration, its best to see a dentist so they can step in before the condition gets worse.

I would not recommend Carolinas Dentist in Chapel Hill, please don't come here unless you like to waste your time. Overall: poor appointment scheduling, poor communication with new patients, lack of timeliness, and the head dentist is not gentle and rushed. I called and asked for a dental cleaning. On the phone, I asked if they accepted my insurance and asked for the price so I know what to expect, the phone rep takes my info and schedules-- great. The phone rep also says I will receive a confirmation text. I never received the confirmation text, so I had to call back on the day of my appointment to confirm the appointment was still happening. On the day of my appointment, I come in early around 2:45 for a 3pm appointment to fill out paperwork. I fill out the paper work, but my appointment doesn't start until 3:15pm. I came in specifically for a cleaning but the dental assistant says I have to do an exam+x-rays since I'm new-- that's fine but I wish they would've mentioned that on the phone. It gets worse: (1) we don't even finish the full exam during the appointment because someone else was using the equipment and (2) I never got the cleaning because the assistant says they don't have enough time. What puts me over the edge is when the head dentist comes in at the very last minute of the appointment, bullishly flicks his fingers through my mouth for less than a minute and sends me off with a treatment plan that's not even covered by my insurance. I understand that the dentist may recommend treatments not initially planned, but time should be built in for changes in services. Most importantly, appointments should be scheduled so that there is ample time to complete all services. If I schedule a cleaning, I should receive a cleaning instead of asking me to come back another time. I don't plan to come back to this office given the poor service. It's really frustrating that I took time off work for this and with my dental insurance plan, I have a limited number of exams and x-rays that are covered-- which is now wasted at a dental office I have no plans of going back to again. A complete waste of my time and money.

Just started my invisalign case at the end of June! Dr. Z does a great job of walking you through the entire process. My dental assistant Brandy did a great job of handling me gently and efficiently. I also got my cleaning done with Tania and had the same experience. Both ladies took amazing care of me. Highly recommend!
