In 2007, Dr. Richard C. Adams established what would become one of the preeminent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practices in North Carolinas Sandhills region. Throughout his career, Dr. Adams has consistently pushed the boundaries of his profession through advancements in surgical techniques, his use of technology, and his patient focus philosophy on providing clinical care. His skill and dedication have earned him the respect and admiration of generation of patients and their families.
Dr. Adams treats a wide variety of conditions related to the oral and facial region, including wisdom teeth removal, extractions of impacted canines, oral pathology, sedation, and general anesthesia. He is particularly passionate about restoring patients lost function and form through implant dentistry and bone augmentation.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Adams attended The Ohio State University earning a Doctoral Degree in Dental Sciences. After a 4-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a decorated career in the United States Army, Dr. Adams permanently relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is proud to be part of the Fayettevilles Healthcare Community and is honored to serve the people of a region he loves.
Beyond the office, Dr. Adams values time with his wife and his two daughters. Part of the philosophy that drives Dr. Adams success behind being a family man and a surgeon is maintaining a sense of humility and understanding that both take an exorbitant amount of hard work, dedication, responsibility and empathy. He finds his involvement with the North Carolina Missions of Mercy, providing volunteer medical and dental treatment to underserved North Carolinians, rewarding and humbling. He deems it a responsibility, to help people in need, and to be of service to the people of the community who have been overwhelmingly welcoming and supportive.

Anesthesia Team We are proud to have Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) on staff atCarolina OMSC. In addition to having masters degrees, and many years of experienceas registered nurse, CRNAs have successfully completed highly competitive advanceddegrees in anesthesia and have years of specialty training in outpatient and pediatricanesthesia. They have also been on staff as anesthesia providers in most of the major hospitals here in Fayetteville prior to joining the team at Carolina OMSC.Our CRNAsare board certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, which requirerigorous continuing education. They are also ACLS and PALS certified.
CRNAs provided an increased level of patient care and safety. Work under the supervision of our Oral Surgeons, they are committed to monitoring and maintaining your level of sedation, allowing the surgeon to focus on dentistry.
Surgical Team The surgical team at Carolina OMSC are experienced professionals each with dedicated lengths of service with Dr. Adams. Our dental assistants have received specialized training in anesthesia assisting by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. We regularly hold emergency preparedness training drills within our office facilities. All of our staff members hold a current CPR certification and receive annual HIPAA and OSHA training.
Implant Team The placement of dental implants are an important service our practice offers to replace missing teeth. In some cases, coordinating a patients dental implant treatment can be a lengthy and complex process. To ensure this process is as seamless as possible for you, Carolina OMSC has specially trained group with unique implant skills to handle your case from start to finish. Dr. Adams sets a high priority on continuing education for the implant team to keep up with all the most recent techniques and innovations for implant dentistry.
Modern advances in dental science allows Dr. Richard C. Adams to offer patients safe, successful and proven procedures for the installation of permanent non-removable replacement teeth supported by artificial dental root forms called dental implants. These tooth replacements look, feel and function like natural teeth. Dental implants have solved many problems associated with tooth loss that previously tooth required replacement with removable full or partial dentures.
Our dental implant patients find that their self-confidence and self-esteem have improved. Implant placement has also restored their quality of life. The person who has implants placed has the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence. Patients know that their teeth appear natural and that facial contours have been restored and will be preserved.
The dental implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. After the implant is placed, the bone bonds (osseointergrates) within the ridges of the implant. This bond creates a strong foundation for the implant support teeth. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Their staff are super friendly and informative. I had Sarah both times I went and she was very professional and made me feel comfortable. The staff as a whole keeps the mood lights and does excellent work and cares for you.

At the first visit everyone seemed so nice and polite. But at the final appointment it was completely different. They changed my mom appointment without consulting with us. They claim they called but there are no records of ANY calls from them. I tried calling and emailing for 2 days and kept getting the recording and text that they were unavailable. A 7:50 appt was pushed back til 9:50! The procedure was simple yet she didn't come out til 11:20!!! The dentist was rough and rude. His assistant seemed rushed and too busy to be polite. The only nice employee is Sarah. The front desk lady wasn't rude but she tried to say they called us but there weren't any calls or emails to us. The lack of respect for our time and the rudeness of the dentist and his assistant is unacceptable!! We won't be back!!!!

Very quick and effective. I was extremely nervous about the sedation process given I've been through a traumatic surgery before, however, the ladies/doctor who were prepping me for surgery were very nice and never stopped talking to me until I was out. I barely felt the pinch of the needle. Before I knew it I was up and finished. I only freaked out a little due to PTSD from my previous experience but they were very calm and didnt rush me. The only thing I struggled with was getting someone on the phone but the great customer service made up for that. Everyone was very kind.

BEWARE!! Carolina Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Center on Owen Drive. I called to make an appointment for my son's wisdom teeth. On their website says they accept MetLife of network. I question the manager straight their website states they accept my insurance and I asked when I called if they did and I was told yes. insurance. When I call I ask the lady are you a provider with MetLife , she says yes. So I schedule the consultation appointment. Arrive at the office and they tell me I owe $ for the exam. I question this as I know dental insurance I am a dental care provider myself. The office manager gives me a benefits paper for our insurance which clearly shows they are out of network I question it and she says we'll this is what you owe, and I say this says you are out of network. She says yes we are when I ask why I was not told that when I asked on the phone and with there website she couldn't answer. After 7 minutes of a back and forth she finally refunds the money I paid for the exam I never got and basically said oh well. Triple check these providers they are saying they accept the insurance hoping you don't notice they are out of network. Would never go there regardless now because I cannot trust a liar.

I know life happens. But it is unprofessional to call someone three times the day before surgery to confirm, then call them less than 2 hours prior to cancel. Especially when they traveled from out of town, boarded pets, paid for lodging, and took a week off work. Dr Adam's may be a great surgeon and the front office may be polite, but it doesn't seem well managed. Disappointed.

I am in town for a period of time working on a project and needed to have a tooth extracted. I did a little looking and decided, based on reviews, to contact Dr. Adams' office and am glad I found this great staff and him as the consummate professional that he is. I have had several oral surgery procedures completed in the past but have never experienced the great professional care that I received from Dr. Adams and his staff. The entire staff is professional, attentive, and welcoming. While having oral surgery can be worrisome, this is the place that makes you feel confident and reassured.

My personal experience was communication for the appointment was super fast and setting up surgery was no problem... But... The Dr didn't talk through concerns I had. He didn't tell me what was going on with my teeth. He said "open up" (numbered my teeth) and said the MA was going to go through it all and walked out the door... He really intimidated me to where I didn't feel comfortable asking questions and my concerns I had. I didn't want the surgery and they threw $$$ at me at check out for a surgery I didn't want. I came to this office because my dentist couldn't tell me what was going on with my teeth and I got no answers that day either except that I am getting ALL my wisdom teeth out full anesthesia no ifs and or buts. The following week I got only 2 taken out for a much more affordable price under local like I actually wanted.

From the moment I walked in the door, Moses at the front desk and the entire staff was welcoming and genuine. I have bad anxiety but they really took care of me. I was sedated .... I think the tooth gone lol I haven't looked yet! I hated going to the dentist but Dr. Adams and his crew changed my prospective and my experience !!
