As with all medical fields, the dental health team at Carlton Family Dentistry understands that your dental health cannot be treated without referencing your dental health history. Each patient is evaluated with the understanding that they are a unique individual with specialized needs and not simply a name on a chart.
Dr. John Carlton, D.M.D. was born and raised in Natchez, MS. Following high school he played collegiate golf for 2 years at Copiah Lincoln where he won the junior college state golf championship. After retiring the golf clubs he attended Mississippi State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004. He then attended UMMC School of Dentistry in Jackson, MS. Upon graduation he and his wife Marcie moved back to their home town hoping to make it their permanent home. After two years working as the dentist at a penitentiary they took a leap of faith and decided to open Carlton Family and Cosmetic Dentistry from scratch. On May 2, 2011 they opened the doors of their modest start up clinic. Luckily their community supported them and made the clinic a success. In December 2015 they moved to a state of the art new location equipped with the latest dental technology. Dr, Carlton is a member of the ADA, MDA and is currently the president elect of the 6th district of the MDA. He takes pride in his work and believes that the quality of his work is a reflection on him personally. Therefore, only the best materials available are used and his clinic is low volume as he believes it takes time to do quality work. Dr. Carlton and his wife have 3 children ages 6, 8, AND 10. When not at work or entertaining his children Dr. Carlton enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing an occasional round of golf.
