Gary Braunstein, DDS, is a trusted general and cosmetic dentist at Carlsbad & Encinitas Dental Care. Since 1979, he has attended to the needs of patients at his clinic in Encinitas, California. In 2010, he opened his second location in Carlsbad, California. He is a trusted and well-known name in San Diego County and remains committed to his patients satisfaction, education, and health.
Dr. Braunstein began his education at Rutgers University where he earned his bachelors degree in psychology. He then completed his dental education at New York Universitys College of Dentistry in 1975. After finishing his schooling, he practiced dentistry as a captain in the United States Air Force before settling down in Southern California to fulfill his dream of opening his own private practice.
To continue pursuing the latest advancements in dentistry, Dr. Braunstein holds memberships with several professional organizations. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the San Diego County Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Braunstein has served thousands of patients over the course of his career and loves to maintain lasting relationships with each of them. He finds great joy in seeing how happy his patients are with their gleaming new smiles.
The most common procedures I do on a routine basis, are atraumatic extractions with bone grafting and guided bone regeneration, followed by single or multiple implant placement at a later date. I do place immediate implants into extraction sites when the remaining boney socket is just right. For every bone grafting patient, at least one vial of blood is drawn, from which is derived leukocyte-platelet rich fibrin, for hydrating the graft material.

First off I would like to say that Dr. Ziedler is a wonderful dentist and I feel honored to have had the opportunity to have been under his care. I did not have good oral hygiene habits; I brushed quickly, barely flossed, and never used mouthwash. When I saw Dr. Ziedler for the first time, he sat down and had a long talk with me, thoroughly educating me the importance of good oral hygiene habits by showing me my x-rays in detail and explaining that if I don't improve, my numerous baby cavities will worsen. He was the wake up call I needed to fix my habits, and I will be forever grateful to him. I would also like to thank the hygienist who did my cleaning (I unfortunately do not remember her name) as she was so thorough and encouraging. However, I experienced so many issues with the front desk that it is impossible for me to continue coming to this office. For my very first appointment, I was scheduled to come in at 3:30pm. I receive a call at 3:25pm accusing me of being late and that my appointment was supposed to be at 3pm. Even though it was clearly communicated when I scheduled my first appointment over the phone that my appointment was at 3:30pm, somehow the responsibility fell on me for being "late". Later on, I had two fillings and a night guard done at this office. I was quoted to need to pay $300 out of pocket, while my insurance would cover $600. Imagine my surprise and panic when a bill from the office comes a month later in the mail saying that I now owe the $600. I called the office in confusion, asking how the quote could vary so vastly. Turns out that the front desk never even sent the $600 claim to my insurance. Had I not called the office to clarify, I would now be responsible to pay the bill. These were all minor issues I could let slide, but the last issue was the final straw. I call on 8/16 at 3:01pm to schedule an appointment for two wisdom tooth extractions on 8/23 at 11:30am. When I arrive at the office on 8/23, the front desk tells me that there is no such appointment, and that my appointment, word for word, "must have disappeared from the system". Even though I had pain from my wisdom teeth, the next appointment she was able to give me was on 9/2. Almost 2 weeks later! Furthermore, I take time off work to come to these appointments. It is such a waste of my time to make time for these appointments, only to be turned away for something not even my fault. That same day, I called another clinic to become a new patient, and they were able to evaluate me and take care of my wisdom teeth as of today, on 8/29. All before the quoted 9/2 appointment had I continued to stay at this office. One extra star for the superb care I received from Dr. Ziedler and my hygienist, but otherwise, one star for the abysmal service by the front desk.

Highly recommend Dr. Ramos at Carlsbad Dental care she is very nice and professional. She fixed my chipped front tooth in a timely manner . I'm not embarrassed to smile anymore. Thank you everyone at the office . If you need teeth work done look no further and call them to schedule an appointment .

Please hire a new receptionist. I realize you have your protocols, but if you can't answer basic questions about how much your pricing is for crowns and a post, while there may be additional fees or other services I may need... it negates your work and draws suspicion around it. Hence, why Americans are going to Mexico now, as you're making your work untrustworthy. I wanted a rough estimate, all she would do is argue and refuse to offer. I don't have insurance and would have paid out of pocket. You wonder why we do not trust going to the dentist. Being clandestine is causing these issues. Terrible customer service. A robot would have been better at handling sensitive situations. Most American dentists lie, cheat and charge for unnecessary things. Would be great to have more transparency.

I finally had this epiphany regarding Carlsbad Dental Care. DR.B.,Lori, Steff, Dehlia and crew have had such an impression on my heart and soul that they've cause me to rearranged the furniture in my head, i regards to the above. Never have l ever been to a more relaxed yet detailed dental office, but especially one with so much care than this one...I am speaking from a guy born in the 60s. I'd hug them if l could but being in the era we all live in, its not possible. (.)

Had 4 implants in July, Had to wait approximately 3 to 4 months for the bone to bond with the implants. Teeth were installed today and feel fantastic. Highly recommend Carlsbad dental care, the doctor and his staff . Job well done.

I was greeted by a warm smile (Laura) which put me at ease immediately. Dr. Braunstein assured me I would be in good hands with Dr. Peabody to take care of my implants. Dr. Peabody was so patience and professional at the same time. I haven't had my procedure done as of yet but I'm looking forward to it as soon as possible. The atmosphere in the office is so positive.

In my experience Dr Braunstein and his dental hygienist both perform thorough and careful work paying attention to detail. Teeth cleaning, filling and crown replacements have all all been executed very well for me with minimal fuss and very satisfactory results.
