Dr. Monsalve attended theNational University in Bogot, Colombia. In 1989, he graduated with a degree in General Dentistry. Prior to earning his dental degree, he worked as a certified Dental Technician. In 1994, he was accepted into the Pediatric Dentistry Specialty Program at theUniversity of Maryland in Baltimore. After graduating in 1996, he was chosen for a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Dentistry at theChildren's Medical Center of Dallas, an affiliate of the prestigious Baylor University College of Dentistry.
Following the completion of his fellowship, Dr. Monsalve practiced at the Children's Hospital of Baltimore and in a private practice in Maryland. In early 2002, he, his wife and his two children moved to Florida to open a private practice. In 2007, due to family reasons, Dr. Monsalve moved back to Virginia. He currently practices full-time in his office in Herndon.
Dr. Monsalve is a member of several professional organizations, including theAmerican Academy of Pediatric Dentistryand the American Dental Association. He is the recipient of several academic and clinical awards both in Colombia and in the United States. Dr. Monsalve is a Diplomate of theAmerican Board of Pediatric Dentistryas well as volunteers his time at the Pediatric Dentistry Department of the University Of Maryland School Of Dentistry teaching undergraduate students. He is very active within his community, in which he proudly serves the needs of countless children. Dr. Monsalve enjoys spending quality time with his family, biking, swimming and playing guitar.

The office is ok but the dentist was mean and not good with kids. We did one procedure there and never came back.

Dr. Carlos is the best dentist for children. His team is very polite and his office is so clean and tidy. He always is talking very sweet with children and my daughter loves him. He is not only perfectional at his job, but also his behavior with children is excellent. As a psychologist, I think he absolutely has the best communication with children and I always choose the best doctors for my daughter. I appreciate all the best work for my daughter.

I had a very bad experience with this dentist. He has incredibly poor bedside manner and uses intimidation in his practice. I was referred to him by another dentist. He first lectured me for 5 minutes and then proceeded to complain about the quality of the x-rays taken by the referring dentist the day before - hint he just wants to do another service to make more money. If you want to experience a mean, rude and unprofessional dentist, he is a great one to see. Also expect to wait 40 minutes beyond your scheduled appointment time to see him.

Our super outgoing, social, son whom has never expressed fear or anxiety anytime, for some reason was terrified of the dentist. We worked with Dr. Monsalve who is beyond patient and Ms. Carol was able to get our son to warm up as she walked him around the office. The patience and understanding Dr. Monsalve and the staff goes beyond what I expected. This place is AMAZING with both parents and the little patients. Professional office staff and they only want what's best for their clients. We can't recommend them highly enough.
