Christa L. Stern-Lubahn, D.D.S., F.A.G.D. has been practicing at Caring Family Dentistry (established in 1974) with her father and later brother Dr. Paul Stern since 2001. Dr. Christa grew up in Big Rapids and graduated from St. Peters Lutheran School and then Big Rapids High School. She went on to earn her Bachelors degree in Chemistry (1996) with Honors from Hope College in Holland, MI.
In 1996 she began her dental studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and was awarded her Doctorate in Dental Surgery (2000). Because she wanted to excel at her profession, she forged on to earn a post-doctoral certificate in Advanced Education for General Dentistry from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis (2001).
Because of her continual study, in 2009 she gained prestigious Fellow status from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) - a distinction awarded only to dentists who have completed post-graduate, comprehensive studies, and a rigorous written exam. She sustains her fellowship designation with accredited, extensive continuing education to stay current with the latest research and practices in dentistry. Fellows of the AGD have a demonstrated and recognized commitment to providing exceptional and professional patient care.
Dr. Christa is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the West Michigan Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Big Rapids Dental Study Club and the Chicago Dental Society.
She also has served on short-term, volunteer medical and dental mission trips to Ecuador, Jamaica, and Honduras through Medical Ministries International and Cure International. As her family grows, she looks forward to participating in more of these volunteer mission opportunities.
Locally, she has dedicated her service to two of the Michigan Dental Associations Mission of Mercy projects, one of which was held here in Big Rapids. She has also been a provider for Donated Dental Services through the Michigan Dental Association.
In addition to caring for her patients, Dr. Christas husband and two sons keep her active with boating, skiing and spending time outdoors. Her other passions are playing clarinet in the West Central Concert Band and being a committed and lifelong member at St. Peters Lutheran Church.

My 3 year old has been going here since she was 1. I made an appointment for tomorrow to have them look at a cavity they missed and was spotted by a different dentist. They "apparently" called me and cancelled her appointment the same day I scheduled it. But they called a wrong number. They called the right number today and the lady was unprofessional and snotty and told me they won't see my 3 year old because she wasn't "cooperative" she's 3 YEARS OLD. Would you like someone you don't know coming at you trying to pry your mouth open? I thought you were CARING FAMILY DENTISTRY???? You lost my daughters business, and you certainly lost my business, and I will let everyone I know, know you're horrible.

The service, procedures, & prices are great. The one thing holding them back is the excessively long periods between appointments but I guess there's not much that can be done about it.

The best dentist I have been to in 20 years. Very caring, courteous and they do everything they can to make you comfortable. I would recommend them to everyone. My daughter enjoyed going as well. She is nervous about anything medical or dental but she loved going here.

Liars!!! I would give them zero if I could. They grossly underestimate quotes to sign you up for procedures, then once it's done you end up paying 5x the quote out of pocket. Absolutely awful and fraudulent.

We went to this clinic for 15 years and left due to a Hippa violation. This clinic violated Hippa and will never return! Looking back we should have left years ago. I also filed a Hippa complaint about the clinic and am still livid!

Had appointments set for months for my daughters. Then said one of my daughters wasn't scheduled. But I guess you know no big money to be made off of check ups priorities I guess. After filling 12 cavities supposedly my daughter had. No money left to be made.

The DO's and office staff were most always rude and insensitive during my experience with this office. They were insensitive to my children's initial anxiety and tried to prevent me from going back to comfort my child. It is our right and responsibility as parents to protect our children. There is enough room in the work stations for a parent to attend with your child and be out of the way. I would not recommend this office to anyone just because of their overall rudeness. They also recommend unnessesary work to be done on my children which we found when we switched dental offices. We now use Professional Dental Associates. They are super polite, understand that children get nervous, and they are extremely easy to work with.
