Dr. Emily Markwood grew up in Bloomington, IL and studied at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. She moved to the Champaign area and worked in public health before starting at this office. Her two golden retrievers are her fur children and she enjoys taking them on walks, participating in agility, and taking her therapy certified dog to nursing homes. She strives to make each patient feel comfortable throughout any dental procedures and understand the importance of good dental health. She cares that each patient trusts her and feels positive about their dental experience, and so she encourages patients to ask questions to feel informed about their treatment. Dentistry can be intimidating for many patients, and Dr. Emily hopes that her calm and welcoming nature can put her patients at ease.

I was in a panic after injuring my tooth. I called first thing the next AM and was able to get in immediately! Dr. Markwood gave me several treatment options, and I decided on a referral to an endodontist. The staff scheduled my appointment and I even made it to work on time! Thank you for such amazing service.

I have never been a fan of going to the dentist until now. I mentioned once that my mouth has never not been hurt at a dentist and they made sure I was comfortable the entire time . Will be going back to this one for sure.

My former dentist retired, and I loved and trusted her. So, like the responsible adult that I am, I avoided all dentists for a few years. When I finally saw a dentist, and then another dentist, for some tooth pain, I was reminded why I hate dentists. All dentists. Except one. I went to Dr. Markwood to get a third opinion on some cavities and a possible root canal. I was so overwhelmed and anxious by what other dentists had said, and I was ready to just live with the discomfort. But Dr. Markwood was able to explain why the other two dentists recommended what they did. She then gave her own opinion - fairly similar to what I'd already heard, but I felt so much more supported and cared for in her office. Her sense of compassion and confidence helped me feel a lot better. I feel heard, cared about, respected. Everything was explained to me clearly and simply, including costs and timeframe. Her entire staff is lively, warm, funny, genuine. You can tell they're a tight-knit family. So if you're like me - avoiding the dentist because they all give you NOPE vibes - go to Dr. Markwood. (Side note, if you're already a dentist, go to Dr. Markwood and learn from the best!) She is everything an anxious, reluctant dental-patient needs to survive any type of dental work without being shot with a tranquilizer dart. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to spring for any optional dental work. I still don't love the concept of having sharp tools in the space where I enjoy my Ruffles and my Reese's Cups. However, going to Caring Family Dental has changed my opinion on dentists in general, and I won't avoid going to the dentist anymore as long as Dr. Markwood is there! 10/10, would recommend!

Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I'm a tough patient due to sinus and breathing issues but Dr. Emily, Tammy, and Kiley (sp) made me feel comfortable and cared for. Love them all! Paul

Everything about this place is amazing! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable & fun. You'll feel more comfortable here than any other dentist's office. They'll happily go over any details or questions that you have about the billing or the procedure process. I can't recommend them enough!
