Dr. Barker grew up in Cary, just a few miles away from the Cardinal Family Dentistry office. Since she was young, Dr. Barker has been passionate about both science and art. After volunteering in the UNC Hospital Dental Clinic, Dr. Barker realized that a career in dentistry would allow her to combine her passion for science with her artistic abilities, and the rest is history! She went on to graduate from UNC Chapel Hill with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery with Distinction.Dr. Barkers hard work and commitment to compassionate care has earned her many awards for academic and clinical excellence, and her research on dental implants has recently been published in the journal of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. When not in the office, Dr. Barker and her husband, Will, enjoy cheering on UNC to national championships, heated jeopardy competitions, and spending as much time as possible with their family, including their daughter, Emma, and two beloved felines, Cheddar and Bo (named for her favorite Bojangles biscuit)

Dr. Cooper graduated from UNC with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, and received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at UNC School of Dentistry as well. She is from Gastonia, North Carolina and has lived in North Carolina her whole life with the exception of one year in Knoxville, Tennessee for her husband's job. Dr. Cooper found her passion for dentistry on a dental mission trip to Haiti, where she assisted her father who is also a dentist. Seeing patients get out of pain and the artistic aspect of dentistry sparked her interest. From there, she began spending time shadowing dentists and specialists and decided this was the career path for her! Dentistry even brought Courtney and her husband together, since he is also in the dental field.
In her spare time, Dr. Cooper can be found spending time with her husband Ben, son Lewis, and fur baby Penny. She also enjoys playing piano, singing, reading, hiking, and doing cross-stitch and jigsaw puzzles.
Dr. Barker and the Cardinal Family Dentistry team are thrilled to have Dr. Cooper joining us she is not just an exceptional dentist, but also a wonderful person - we know that you will love her as much as we do!

I started coming here at the beginning of this year & have always had the best experience; with the dental hygienists AND doctors. They are always so friendly, comforting & professional. My dental hygienist, Jennifer, was amazing & performed a periodontal cleaning to relieve my gum irritation. I left my appointment with so much relief & was extremely comfortable throughout the process. Jennifer was quick, efficient and friendly & put my mind at ease - I am so thankful to have found Cardinal Family Dentistry!

Best dentist experience I have had in a very long time. Normally I'm in pain and uncomfortable after leaving the dentist. The dental assistant and doctor were so nice and gentle. Will be switching to them for all my dental needs. Highly recommend this practice.

I have only had great experiences at Cardinal Family Dentistry (been going there for 3 years). 1. Provide great dental care (had my 1st crown there -- over and done around 2 hrs). 2. Caring - I love that they provide blankets and sunglasses! 3. I really like the new baking soda/air/water cleaning -- so much faster and better experience. Thanks Cardinal Family Dentistry! Susan

This is the best dental practice I have ever been to. The entire team is knowledgeable, friendly, caring, and respectful. I feel personally welcomed and cared for at each appointment. The office is clean, sanitary, nicely decorated, and this practice operates efficiently and on time!

Such a great group and dental practice. We moved here a year ago and were referred by a local endodontist who knew both Dr. Barker and Dr. Cooper did great work (always good to check with local endodontists as they see the bad work). My entire family now comes here and we all love this practice. Everyone is so nice (all their Dental assistants are awesome) and make you feel so welcome and comfortable, the office is bright and clean, and both Dr. Cooper and Barker are great at what they do. Highly recommend!

I've been a patient at Cardinal Family Dentistry for a couple years now and I have always had a wonderful experience. My cleanings are always efficient and my teeth feel wonderful afterward. After years of putting off braces, I finally decided to go for it and give Sure Smile a try during the pandemic. The results were wonderful and I have never been so happy with my teeth. I will definitely continue to see Dr. Barker.

I have been going here for over a year now and I love the office. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. I was nervous to attend appointments at first but with the welcoming and friendly environment they provide I have no problems going in for a cleaning!
