Dr. Goodwin grew up in Newport News, graduated from Virginia Tech, and attended dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University where he met his wife, Brooke, who is a Valley native and graduate of Spotswood High School and UVA. After completing his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Cincinnati, he and Brooke moved home to Grottoes to start their family in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. When hes not helping patients, Dr. Goodwin is enjoying time with his family which now includes a toddler, Mary Susan, and newborn baby, William Thomas Goodwin III. He also enjoys being outdoors, running, reading, cooking, hunting, and continuing advanced education in oral surgery.
Dr. Will loves his family, church, and practice and is passionate about living out his faith through his work which is why treating his patients, team, and referring practices like family is so important. He feels very blessed to be able to serve the community he loves.
Dr. Reichert is a Richmond, VA native, but spent her undergraduate years in Harrisonburg, VA at James Madison University. She returned to Richmond to attend dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. Here she received her DDS degree, and then studied further to receive her MSD degree based on her clinical research and her certificate in periodontics and implant dentistry. Although she will always have a place in her heart for her hometown, she missed the Shenandoah Valley dearly during her years at VCU, and she is thrilled to be back.
Dr. Reichert provides dental care specific to periodontal diseases and replacement of missing teeth. She continues to attend meetings and courses to ensure she is providing the best possible care for her patients. At the office, her goal is to always create a relaxing environment where her patients feel like family. When shes not practicing dentistry, Dr. Amy enjoys hiking, painting, spending time with her friends and family and spoiling her dog.
Dr. Magdalena [Lena] Holz grew up in Southern West Virginia. She attended dental school at West Virginia University, where she graduated in the top of her class and also where she met her wonderful husband, Daniel. Upon graduation, she completed a 12-month AEGD Residency program at C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL. After practicing in general dentistry for a few years, Dr. Holz attended Virginia Commonwealth University to complete her residency in Endodontics and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry.
In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, hiking, cross country skiing, biking, and anything outdoors. She loves to cook and enjoys trying all types of interesting foods. Being able to settle down in the Shenandoah Valley is a dream come true, and she is extremely grateful to be able to provide you with the highest quality of endodontic care and to get to know each of you!
Dr. Daniel Bartling grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV for both his undergraduate and dental degrees. After dental school, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Following the completion of his residency program, Dr. Bartling and his wife moved to Iowa City, Iowa where he began his Endodontic Residency at the University of Iowa. Dr. Bartling is active in the dental community and enjoys volunteering his time to teach dental students at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Another significant part of his life revolves around enjoying a wide variety of outdoor activities including skiing, biking, golfing, kayaking and ultimate frisbee. He also enjoys cooking for his friends and family who are scattered around Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Everything about this office is absolutely amazing! The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Everyone ensures that you are feeling comfortable throughout the whole process!! Since the consult, I felt very comfortable and confident on how the procure would work. I love how Dr.Goodwin calls to check up on his patients to ensure they are comfortable.

I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time! Many reasons prevented me from going and a lot of those same reasons put my dental health at risk. I found myself needing my first root canal. My anxiety was getting the best of me. From the very first point of contact to the pre-op procedure and post-op finishing, the ENTIRE Cardinal Dental Specialists team is above any I've ever experienced. They each made me comfortable and calm and continued to make sure I was okay all the way through all of it. They addressed any concerns and made sure I was the top priority in how I was feeling physically and emotionally. Beautiful office setup with a touch of Christianity throughout the office. They share their family stories and life to make you feel included in the tasks going on and not just a patient paying money. Best experience I've ever had!

Needing a root canal of a crowned molar, I was very apprehensive. My dentist sent me to Cardinal to make sure that things went well. I AM SO VERY GLAD THAT HE DID!!! Dr. Bartling and his assistant were both professional and friendly; they explained what was happening, which made me more at ease. I suppose the main thing that impressed me was that Dr. Bartling did all of his work while viewing my tooth through a dental microscope!! He was very thorough and I feel confident that the job was done well! I hope that I never need a dental specialist again, BUT if I do, I will know where to go!!! Easier than I could have imagined.

He started numbing furtherest way from the pain. The meds were kicking in for the next shot. By the time he got to my infected tooth I could hardly feel the needle. Drilling was painless except for a touch of air on a nerve. I jumped a bit and he must have done something because I felt nothing after that. They use this cool rubber flange thing around the tooth they are working on and all the debris stays on that. (And your tongue is kept under). You have the option to use a space thing to bite on and you just relax your mouth. I do not have sore jaws even though my mouth was open 30 minutes.

The first time I was put to sleep I was having 2 teeth exposed. The staff and everyone were amazing! The assistant/nurse got my iv in first try. And it was all done withing 3 mins tops!! The second time I went however the assistant missed my vain and made up some excuse that it was difficult to find. When I almost passed out from her digging around in my arm they gave my oxygen and she tried the other arm. Where obviously she also missed as well. At this point I was wishing I had never come because it was the worst feeling I have ever had to go through. The doctor finally came in and did it himself. Depends on who you get but that was pretty traumatic for me.

Dr. Reichert took time to sit with before and spoke to my husband afterwards she answered all of our questions. She was gentle, and I only pain that 1 day. I have sleep apnea and really bad anxiety, but they did everything to make me feel comfortable. The whole process of being sedated was super fast when they took me to a room. They are both professional and knowledgeable in what they are doing and it shows. Everyone I encountered in the office left a positive impression. I definitely tell all my friends and family about my experience. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else.

The staff, dental assistant, Nicole and Dr. Bartling were friendly, compassionate, professional, informative. They put me at ease and told me what they were doing.
