I get most excited to see the finished result, and see a child mature into a young adult with a beautiful smile that improves his or her self-esteem and self-confidence. Dr. Carcaras educational qualifications are impressive. He has excelled at all academic levels, finishing at the top of his class from high school through orthodontic training. As valedictorian of his high school class, Dr. Carcara became a Garden State Distinguished Scholar. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 from Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating Summa Cum Laude at the top of his class. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1995 as a Presidential Scholar and graduated with honors. While attending UMDNJ, he earned numerous awards, some of which include the New Jersey Dental School Student Leadership and Distinguished Service Award for his leadership contributions as a member of the student government and community dental outreach programs. In addition, he was awarded the distinction of election into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) and Gamma Pi Delta national dental honor societies.

Prior to becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Carcara completed a one-year general practice residency training program in all aspects of general dentistry, including implants, restorative dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Dr. Carcara completed his specialty training in orthodontics at the State University of New York Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine in 1998. In addition, he served as a pre-doctoral instructor in orthodontics, dental anatomy, occlusion, and National Board Exam tutorials. While at SUNY Buffalo, Dr. Carcara also received his Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics and Oral Biology from the Graduate School of Oral Medicine. His research on long-term retention of orthodontic treatment has been published in orthodontic literature and cited in lectures worldwide.

Dedicated to continuing his education, Dr. Carcara completes more than twice the required amount of continuing education credits each year. He believes his patients deserve the most advanced care available, and through continuing education, Dr. Carcara is able to provide state-of-the-art treatment options. Additionally, he is the chairman of continuing education of the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, overseeing all continuing education courses in New Jersey.

In private practice since 1998, Dr. Carcara is board certified in orthodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, which is the only certifying board recognized for the specialty of orthodontics by the American Dental Association. A lifelong resident of Bergen County, Dr. Carcara is proud to practice in the Pascack Valley. When he is not in the office, Dr. Carcara enjoys his other passion in life, his family. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in the area with their daughters. They enjoy taking advantage of all the region has to offer, including the local parks, golf courses, and restaurants. In addition, they enjoy taking trips to New York City, the Jersey Shore, and the countryside of upstate New York and Pennsylvania.

Those who know Dr. Carcara or who have been to his office are well aware of his love for baseball, sports memorabilia, and the New York Yankees. Jennifer, our business manager, has been with Carcara Orthodontics since its inception in 2003, upon leaving her corporate communications career for the birth of her first daughter. She manages all financial and insurance matters, addresses marketing, communications and personnel matters, automates office processes, and ensures the office complies with all accepted business practices and government regulations. Jen enjoys satisfying all our patients needs while making them feel comfortable with their decision to join our orthodontic family. She loves helping to contribute to the success of our practice and its highly regarded position in the community as the premier orthodontic practice in Northern New Jersey.

Jennifer, our Clinical Care Coordinator (RDH), joined the Carcara Orthodontics team in November of 2011. She is a registered dental hygienist who graduated with highest honors from dental hygiene school, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science as well. Jennifer assists Dr. Carcara chairside, takes diagnostic records, and assists with adjustments. She provides all patients with oral hygiene instructions and is happy to answer any questions you may have. Jennifer has always had a passion for helping patients increase their knowledge about their oral health.

Alexa, our office assistant, joined the Carcara Orthodontics team in 2012. She assists the clinical team with their needs, sterilizes instruments, pours study models. and writes up patients charts when she is home from college. Alexa is an asset to our team and makes our patients smile each day with a warm welcome and friendly conversation. She loves playing a vital role in making our patients feel comfortable and assisting our patients with achieving their beautiful new smiles.
