Caprock Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery / Dr. Ramsey M. Fanous D.D.S. - Oral surgeon in Lubbock, TX

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons have extensive training in the administration of all types of sedation and general anesthesia. Oral surgeons are able to provide surgical services with the comfort of sedation and general anesthesia in a safe and cost-effective office setting. The oral surgery team approach model provides patients with a very reliable and safe method of having procedures such as tooth extraction (which is the most common surgical procedure in the world), dental implants, and other oral and facial procedures in a stress-free environment.

The oral surgeon will review the patient medical history extensively before scheduling any type of anesthesia. Some of the questions you are asked as a patient include all medications you take, allergies to any medication as well as a history of previous surgeries and anesthesia. Its very important to tell the oral surgeon everything you know about your health history. By sharing all the information, this allows the anesthesia team to be well prepared before, during, and after the anesthesia and procedure.

Make sure you follow all the pre-operative instructions you are given. These instructions include having nothing to eat or drink 6 hours before the procedure. Sometimes, your surgeon may instruct you take some of your medications before the surgery and anesthesia. In pediatric cases the surgeon may have special instructions for eating and drinking before anesthesia.

Today, oral surgery is performed in such a comfortable and safe way with the use of office-based anesthesia. No more anxiety about dental needles, shots, and the thought of having surgery in your mouth. Oral surgery is a very unique specialty because of the oral surgeons training in anesthesia delivery in a safe office-based setting.

What an awesome experience! The staff was very attentive to my anxiety of having two teeth pulled. The over all experience was pleasant. The teeth in pic arent mine

Lobby was clean and organized, waiting period minimal. Staff is extremely friendly and kind. I had 4 wisdom teeth extractions recently and the whole experience was pretty positive. The surgery itself went very smooth and I have not had complications arise. I believe the team is very knowledgeable and bedside manner top tier. Strongly recommend this location for your oral surgical needs.

This was a few years ago. I wanted to give myself some time before writing all of this since I still haven't come to terms with it. I've seen therapists since this debacle and have not returned to this facility. The initial visit was great. I had an excellent surgery and I didn't initially have any low expectations. Everything from the second I scheduled through the first appointment and even my surgery was fine. I do know myself and I was upfront about immuno issues. These, unfortunately, did occur. My surgical site went necrotic and tissue became ulcerated after shards from the tooth extraction had a difficult time finding their own way out. My gums receded due to medical problems to the point where the ulceration was painful and I couldn't even breathe without immense pain. I saw an Emergency room for this, then followed up with my regular dentist first. I was afraid of calling and following up here again since I had done so already. They had made some implications that I was only after pain medication. This was not the case. I have social issues, which did not lend themselves well to this situation. Add fogginess from pain and being unable to eat at all for over a week; and it lead to a bad situation. Eventually I came back and that's where things just lead to me not being able to work with this facility anymore. I was so afraid and worked up while the socket was broken up while I was cognitive that I ended up breathing far too fast. This didn't seem to bother anyone during the procedure, as I distinctly remember a hand holding my head back to hold me still while parts of my mouth were broken apart. I didn't sleep for over a week after that. We air commercials for this place at work at the drs face still makes me uncomfortable. If everything was as caring as it was the first visit? Sure. It isn't. I'm from Palm Beach Florida. I guess we just do things differently where I'm from, cause I've never been terrified of a Dental Surgeon before. Or any surgeon, for that matter. I'll pay the money for someone off insurance next time.

I was very afraid to get my wisdom teeth removed to do the fact that I am an older adult. Dr. Fanous team at Caprock Oral Surgery made me feel very comfortable and Dr. Fanous did such an amazing job that I hardly feel any pain compared to other dental work I have gotten done in the past. He and his team are definitely very knowledgeable! I am so glad I chose them.

I would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Ramsey Fanous and his staff. They explained everything and answered all my questions. They kept me warm and comfortable. I actually felt better after my wisdom tooth was removed. I was mostly worried about the pain but actually felt very little. Thank you again. You're the best!

I'm 25 years old and terrified of dental work. I had to get a tooth extracted while being put under Anaesthesia which made me freak out even more. Everything went great! VERY nice and welcoming staff! I didn't feel judged or shamed when crying before the procedure either. Highly recommend this place.

Having a tooth implant done by Dr. Whitten's office. 6 out of 8 visits to Dr. Whitten's office, I waited well over an hour to see the doctor. I've learned to take the day off. Once, I was in Dr. Whitten's office for 2 1/2 hours for an x-ray and mold. Every visit, I had to repeatedly call Dr. Whitten's office just to get my next appointment. The last appointment I had, I had to call 4 times in 3 1/2 weeks just to get an appointment. On the 4th call, I was told the reason they couldn't make my appointment was because I haven't paid for my next procedure.

I called Dr Fanous after I was referred from Bliss Dental and I was able to get in same day. The staff was amazing and sitting in the lobby area and observing them they all were professional and just a happy staff. The nurses who sat with me related to me on my level and made me feel relaxed and comfortable because nobody likes going to the dentist, but I just felt calm about things. Dr Fanous examined my wisdom teeth and was gentle and I wasn't in more pain from the exam, because that happens but it didn't with him. The pricing was very affordable for our family and I was able to schedule my exam for the very next day. You hear all the bad stories you hear about this type of surgery so I was nervous but after it all said and done it was way less painful than we expected. Only discomfort was the nausea from antibiotics but that's to be expected. If Our family ever needs any work done I will be calling Dr Fanous and his staff first. Thank you for all you did to make me feel comfortable and understanding my home care treatment plans.

I've had an excellent experience with Dr. Fanous and his staff during the process of getting a dental implant. They have all been personable and helpful to answer questions. Shelley went above and beyond to find out insurance information for me when I had a change in my insurance situation midway through the process. I feel taken care of and valued. Highly recommend!
