I love giving people confidence in their smile and improving their overall health. We have so many special people on our team and we love developing personal relationships with our patients. We dont just straighten teeth; we improve airways and develop functional bites in addition to making a perfect smile.

Above all else, I appreciate the trust my patients place in me. The overwhelming majority of our patients come to us by way of referral. It gives me a lot of encouragement to know that our former patients are out there telling people about the great experience they had with our practice. I realize that a trip to the orthodontist can be daunting and even scary. I promise you that we will support you and your children emotionally, spiritually, and professionally throughout your treatment.

I am locally grown and Im proud to practice in the area where I grew up. Five generations of my family have resided in this part of Texas since the 1800s. My great-grandfather moved to Crandall in 1916 where he bought the iconic Crandall Cotton Gin and ran it for more than 50 years. I want to serve families and our community. You become part of my extended family when you walk through our doors. I look forward to seeing the smiles we create when I run into you at the grocery store, at church, or under Friday Night Lights!

Team sports have always been a passion. I think you will see some of the trademarks of an excellent team when you see our practice in action. I graduated from Crandall High School and then attended Hardin-Simmons University where I played football. After a career ending injury, I transferred to Texas A&M University in College Station. There, I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Business Administration. I returned to north Texas to study at Baylor College of Dentistry (now called Texas A&M Dental School), where I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

I started my dental career with a fantastic general practice in Richardson, Texas. I spent several years there with a great mentor focusing on restorative and aesthetic dentistry, before returning to Baylor for my orthodontic residency. Through this residency, I obtained my Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Biology.

Not all orthodontic care is created equal. It is important to understand why the malocclusion has developed. Crooked teeth and a bad bite are usually symptoms of a larger issue. This truth hit close to home when I recognized my daughters airway problems. Interceptive treatment changed the trajectory of her cognitive and facial development. Rest assured that I never stop learning. Advancements in treatments, technology, and methodologies are constantly changing and improving. Throughout the year, I participate in numerous continuing education seminars. I am also a member of the Spear Study Club and a multi-disciplinary airway concentrated study club that focuses on growth and development.

When Im not treating patients, I am with my family. My parents live a few minutes away and I take every opportunity to hunt, fish, and work cows with my dad and son. My wife, Heather, is a graduate of SMU and is a PA in a dermatology practice in Greenville. Our son Colton and our daughter Charli keep us very busy with youth sports and dance recitals.

Im still able to scratch my competitive sports itch through participation in triathlons, cycling and running. Our family is active with our church and mission trips. We have a passion for moms in need and support local pregnancy centers.

I realize that COVID-19 has a lot of people questioning elective medical and dental treatments. You will be welcomed to a state-of-the-art practice employing the most effective preventative measures to keep you and your family safe while receiving treatment. Our team appreciates your support and I look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones to our practice family. We will help you achieve optimal oral health and the radiant, confident smile you deserve!

For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

I would highly recommend Dr. Capps to anyone. He has an incredible bedside manner. He puts his patients at ease, he does an excellent job of communicating treatment options and plans, and he spends quality time with his patients. Dr. Capps' office is very welcoming yet professional at the same time. A wire from my daughter's braces got caught on her cheek. Dr. Capps' office immediately worked us in for an appointment and took care of her very uncomfortable problem immediately. It is very obvious that Dr. Capps loves his profession and cares deeply for each of his patients.
