Capitol Family Dentistry of Washington DC - General dentist in Washington, DC

Dr. Tyler Jacques, Washington DC dentist, was raised in a family devoted to dentistry. In the small Northern Michigan community where he grew up, Dr. Jacques father was a dentist and his mother was a hygienist and office manager for more than 30 years. Dr. Jacques saw firsthand how dental professionals build lasting relationships with patients and knew that dentistry was the perfect career for him as well.

As a graduate of the University of Floridas College of Dentistry, Dr. Jacques had the opportunity to study at one of the nations top schools for dentistry. After completing school, he took over operations for his fathers practice and also worked for four years in Chicago as an associate dentist. While in Chicago, Dr. Jacques dedicated much of his time to working in a clinic for underserved individuals.

From exploring local restaurants and shops, to walking his French Bulldog in the beautiful parks, Dr. Jacques is excited to take full advantage of everything the Capitol Hill community has to offer. In his spare time, he enjoys jogging and biking.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has found that your child should visit the dentist within six months after the presence of the first tooth or by his or her first birthday. Early oral examination aids in the detection of the initial stages of tooth decay. Early detection is also essential to maintaining good oral health.

During each visit, we will gently clean your childs teeth and remove any plaque or tartar. We will carefully examine their mouth and teeth for any potential issues. Regular cleanings and exams can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues.

Tooth decay has become the most common chronic childhood illness in the U.S. We will teach you and your child how to properly brush and floss their teeth as they grow. We will discuss dental hygiene habits and healthy food choices. We will teach your child to be our partner in keeping their mouth and teeth healthy.

We may recommend treating your childs teeth with fluoride. This mineral can strengthen tooth enamel, making teeth more resistant to decay. Fluoride may be applied in office or used in certain toothpastes and mouth rinses.

In some cases, we may recommend the use of dental sealants. Sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of molars. Recent studies have found that sealants can be highly effective in preventing tooth decay.

I have historically dreaded visits to the dentist's office, but not so with Dr. Jacques. He's attentive and gentle, and his kindly demeanor is shared by everyone in the practice.

I feel grateful to be a patient of Capitol Family Dentistry. Dental work always makes me nervous, but Dr. P worked with, not around, my anxiety, frequently checking in to make sure I was comfortable. She took the time to explain upcoming procedures to me and gave me good advice on how to update my daily routines to better serve my dental health. Dr. Phaltankar and the fantastic dental assistant both went above and beyond to accommodate scheduling too!

Generally I do not get excited about my biannual visit to the dentist. However once I became a patient of Dr.P I no longer dread my visits. The practice is incredibly well run, I appreciated all of my reminders for appointments. As far as the practice goes, Dr. P is an unmatched talent. Her artistry with a (tooth)brush would make Michelangelo weep. She has excellent bedside (chair side?) manner and is extremely knowledgable and gentle. I would highly recommend this practice and will continue to return as long as I am in the area.

DO NOT patronize this establishment. The receptionist Lazandria or a name very similar is very rude. She is always the lady that answers the phone with the DC accent. She has been rude since my first appointment. Additionally, when contacting them about a follow-up, the receptionist hung up in my face claiming the dental office on the other line was calling about me, when I told her there is no way this could be true, she hung up any way. She knew she was wrong because she called back and said, "I'm sorry they weren't calling about you, it was another patient and I apologize for being so rude". The fact you have to call back and acknowledge you cant keep you attitude in check lets me know this dentist does not care about who he hires and how they treat his customers. She was also very nasty when corresponding with them about my referral to a specialist. She told me it was not their fault that when they refer out to specialists, they may not be in network. This id after, when I called and asked how they refer to specialist, and she said they refer to specialist based off my insurance. She realized there was a problem and tried to walk back on what she initially said. You ARE NOT SAFE with them. Any one that can hire staff that will be so reckless with your care is not a good establishment. This woman hung up in my face and proceeded to yell at me on the phone when she started changing her story after saying they referred me based on my insurance. They take no responsibility. Anyone that cares about their money and having a confident health care team that WORKS TOGETHER, this is not the place for you. If this comment is removed, I will repost. Today is 8-9-2022.

As of this review, I've visited Capitol Family Dentistry twice: once for a routine cleaning as a new patient and again a few weeks later for a few fillings. Dr. Jacques cleaned my teeth during my initial visit. He started on time, cleaned my teeth thoroughly, and recommended changes to my dental routine without a bit of condescension. I returned a few weeks later and Dr. Phaltankar performed my fillings and created molds for a night guard. She made sure I was completely informed with each step that she took including when to breathe through my nose and prepared me for any potential discomfort (ex: the night guard mold tray is very awkward to hold in your mouth). I felt no pain when receiving numbing medication. I felt zero discomfort for my first tooth being filled. During my next tooth, I experienced a bit of extreme sensitivity and raised my hand as instructed. She immediately stopped, proceeded to provide a bit more numbing medication, and continued when I was ready. Upon further inspection, she realized I needed attention from a periodontist to correct a previously unknown issue. She completed the filling, and the entire office's staff put together a game plan for me to receive care by an in-network periodontist. I highly recommend this office to anyone searching for a dentist group in DC, especially to those who may be nervous when it comes to dental treatment. Capitol Family Dentistry will take care of you.

Had a great first visit with Dr. P. She explained everything in detail, making me feel comfortable and gave me great recommendations. My teeth feel clean and I am even motivated to floss! Loved that it was a small practice in a quiet but accessible area. Felt safe and well taken care of.

Aside from Dr. Jacques being a very thorough dentist, I'd say that his staff, LaSandra, is by far the best of the best! I'm very big on customer service and being in that position I'm sure is tough especially having to deal with different personalities on any given day, but LaSandra goes over and beyond the call of duty, and for that I am grateful. She will accommodate you to the best of her ability, and will go the extra mile if an issue arises. We need more people like her around. On behalf of myself and my family, thank you a million times over for the excellent service!!

I had a wonderful experience at Capitol Family Dentistry!! Look no further for your perfect fit. The customer service was fantastic and I felt very comfortable and taken care of in the hands of Dr. Jacques. LaSandra does a fantastic job and made me feel welcome and relaxed (even though I normally dread the dentist!) I am so happy I found this place and look forward to going back.

Best. Dentists. Ever. Both Dr. Jacques and Dr. P are extremely helpful, patient, knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. I've been to a few dentists in Northern VA and this has hands down been the best experience I've ever had at a dentist office.

Hands down the best dentist office I've ever been to. Dr. Jacques and his staff are professional, friendly and make every trip to the dentist an enjoyable one. I've moved 2 hours away and still return to Dr. Jacques office because of the experience, it's absolutely worth the drive. I recently had a crown fall out and Dr. Jacques and his staff took time out of their lunch break to get me in last minute, I am routinely impressed with this office.

Dr. Jacques is an amazing dentist. Until I saw him I had to be sedated to get a teeth cleaning. Not anymore! His calm and collected demeanor puts you at ease. Highly recommend cannot speak highly enough of him.

The team at Capitol Family Dentistry is amazing. I went there for a cleaning and then, sadly, had to switch to another dentist after switching jobs. Dr. Jacques was awesome - friendly, quick, and informative. The administrative staff were incredible amazing as well. Every time I called (even to let them know I had to switch providers) they were a pleasure to work with. I'm bummed I can't stay with them!
