Dental implants are used to replace tooth roots. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth. Dental implants are small anchors made of biocompatible metal, called titanium, placed in the jawbone. The anchors begin to fuse with the bone over a few months. After the fusing process, known as osseointegration, abutment posts are inserted into the anchors to allow for the attachment of the replacement teeth. To fabricate the replacement teeth, an impression is taken and a model of the bite is created. The replacement teeth are based on this model. Replacement teeth can either be crowns, bridges or dentures.

A wisdom tooth that is deemed problematic is normally extracted to avoid any oral complications. To have a wisdom tooth removed, a small incision is made to open up the gum tissue over the tooth and remove any bone that is covering the tooth. Once the tooth is in view, it is grasped with a dental instrument, known as a forcep, and gently rocked back and forth to loosen it from the jaw bone and surrounding ligaments. Sometimes the tooth may need to be cut into smaller pieces to make it easier for removal. Stitches may be necessary after the removal of a wisdom tooth.

A tooth that can not be saved with restorative materials may need to be removed. First, the area will be numbed with anesthesia. The tooth is then loosened with a special dental instrument known as an elevator. After the tooth is loosened from the socket, it is removed. Stitches may be necessary after the removal of a tooth.

Impacted wisdom and cuspid (or canine) teeth are fairly common. To correct impacted teeth, there are a few treatment options. For impacted wisdom teeth, the most common procedure is extraction. For impacted canine teeth, several treatment modalities are available. Orthodontics (braces) can be used to open space for proper eruption. Primary (baby) teeth can either be extracted or surgically exposed to allow for the placement of an orthodontic bracket to help align the teeth.

Bone grafting is the replacement or enhancement of bone around teeth. When a tooth is lost, the surrounding bone collapses. Bone grafting is performed to reverse bone loss or enhance existing bone. The grafting material can be taken from parts of the body or from synthetic material. Bone grafting allows for proper support of dental implants or prostheses.

Orthognathic surgery can involve procedures such as an osteotomy (bone cutting), bone grafts, or distraction osteogenesis (stretching of the bone) and orthodontic (braces) care. Orthognathic correction is conducted in stages, and the course of treatment can last from a few months to a year or more.

In order to perform the procedure successfully, the jawbones will be repositioned in accordance with ones specific needs. Inconspicuous incisions are usually made inside, and if needed, outside the mouth to allow for surgical plates, screws, wires and rubber bands to be used to hold your jaws in their new positions.

A sinus lift is a surgery that adds bone to your upper jaw in the premolar and molar areas of your mouth. To add bone, an incision is made where the premolar and molar teeth were previously located. Once the bone is exposed, a small circular shape is made in the bone to access the sinus. Once the sinus is accessed, the sinus membrane is gently pushed up and away from the upper jaw. Once this is done, bone graft material is placed into the sinus space to change the shape and provide support. Once the bone is in place, the incision is closed and the healing process begins.

Dental implants have become the gold standard to replace missing or failing teeth. Despite popular myths, they are not prone to failure. In fact, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) states that, when placed by a specialist, dental implants have a success rate of 95%.

A beautiful smile and the confidence that it brings are certainly important, but did you know that dental implants also carry significant oral health benefits? Whether you are replacing one tooth or many teeth, dental implants preserve jawbone. When a tooth is missing, the body natural resorbs the jawbone over time. This can compromise the stability of neighboring teeth and lead to the sunken appearance that is a hallmark of denture wearers. It also causes dentures to gradually lose their fit, requiring periodic relines.

Dental implants replace missing teeth, halting and even reversing the process of jawbone loss. They provide a fuller, more youthful appearance, and they protect the integrity of the surrounding teeth. Dental implants provide a strong, stable base for high quality replacement teeth, restoring nearly all of the original bite strength. While they are costlier up front than other solutions such as bridges or dentures, dental implants become the least expensive solution over a lifetime ad they do not compromise healthy teeth or bone as bridges and dentures do.

Made from biocompatible titanium, one dental implant can support a single crown. The implant is placed in the jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone for several months. When this osseointegration is complete, an abutment post is used to permanently attach the crown to the implant.

If you are missing three or more teeth in a row, an implant supported bridge may be right for you. While a traditional dental bridge requires the natural teeth at each end to be shaved down and prepared to receive crowns, an implant supported bridge is anchored to an implant at each end. This leaves the adjacent teeth undisturbed, reducing the risk for future damage or decay.

Implant supported dentures can be either fixed or removable. Just two implants can stabilize an existing removable denture, eliminating the need for pastes or adhesives. A handful of dental implants can support an entire fixed upper or lower arch of teeth that never leave your mouth.

This unique solution uses 4 immediate-load dental implants to secure a full, fixed arch of teeth. Rather than waiting for months for traditional dental implants to osseointegrate with the jawbone, you can receive your new, fixed arch of teeth on the same day that your implants are placed. There is no plastic palate on the roof of your mouth, as with traditional dentures, making speaking and eating more natural and more comfortable.

Using CBCT scans and restorative virtual treatment planning, along with our specialized training, we are able to provide guided implant placement for our patients. We create a digital 3-D model of each patients unique oral anatomy, allowing us to design an individualized treatment plan that optimizes the aesthetics, function, and longevity of the final restoration.

We then use specialized software to create a precise surgical guide to use during implant placement. This guide directs the exact location, angle and depth of the implant placement. Using this surgical guide increases the safety, accuracy, efficiency, and predictability of implant surgery.

This place was GREAT! I was extremely nervous to have one of my wisdom teeth pulled with local anesthetic but from start to finish Nicole and Dr. Rosato were understanding, efficient, and just lovely in explaining everything as it went and absolutely astounding me with the speed and painlessness of the procedure. I was impressed as well with the office staff that were diligent and helpful in making me feel supported with an insurance issue as well. True caring professionals all, cannot recommend highly enough!

I went to the Peterborough location a few years ago to have my wisdom teeth removed. The entire experience was fantastic. All the staff were very kind and knowledgeable. I am terrified of needles, and remember being dropped off alone, and scared while I sat in the chair to get prepped. The assistant noticed and said I could reschedule and go to the concord location where I could avoid the needle in my arm. They had no problems answering my questions and helping me calm down. They even used a numbing spray on my arm before putting the needle in! Richard Rosato was also very friendly and made sure to ask if I had any questions or concerns before I went under. I had no problems post-op, and was given everything I needed for post care. Highly recommend!
