Dr. Murphy graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and achieved his periodontal certification from St. Louis University. A past president of the Ohio Periodontal Association, he is currently a Diplomate with the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery. He also holds membership in the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American Dental Association and the Ohio Dental Association.
A certified Sommelier and food fanatic, Dr. Murphy loves to create magic in the kitchen. He and his wife also enjoy experiencing new restaurants and traveling together. At home they share their lives with three beloved dogs who help them cheer on the Cubs and the Longhorns.
There is no such thing as a generic solution when it comes to Dr. Murphys approach to personal care. Because every person is unique, he believes every treatment needs its own personalized diagnosis, specific solution, and approach to treatment.

Although oral surgery can be daunting, everyone at Capital City Periodontics & Oral Implantology went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and confident. The pre-procedure consultation was thorough, and all my questions were answered. They worked well with my insurance provider, and I went into the procedure knowing exactly what my out-of-pocket expenses were going to be (and payment options available). The procedure went very well. The aftereffects were minimal and well below the "worst case scenario" proactively provided. I was well informed of my responsibilities following the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Murphy and his incredible staff!

I did a lot of research before choosing periodontist and choose to drive 2 hours for my appointment. My surgery was for preventative gum grafting on one side of my mouth (top and bottom). Having had the other half done the previous year in Denver, I thought I knew what to expect (procedure, recovery, look, etc). Dr Murphy definitely exceeded my expectations and more. I was almost upset because I thought he forgot to perform half my procedure. Two days later I came to understand he just did it so well, so clean, that I now question my first periodontist's work! The office is cozy, very clean, state of the art, and well worth the effort. If you need periodontal service, this is the person to go to, so stop looking elsewhere. Glad I choose Dr Murphy, and if I ever need these related services again, I'll be coming back.

My experience with Cap City Perio has been unfailingly positive! From the friendly reception to the conversational explanations of what to expect, Cap City has made every effort to put me at ease and keep me informed. Even the comfortable waiting room is designed to put one at ease. Staff never fail to return my calls to answer my questions. Designated parking spaces make access easy. Capital City has set a very high standard for patient care.

The Capital City Periodontics team made my experience as smooth as possible. They honored my requests to minimize medications where possible, talked me through the steps of the surgery, and answered all of my questions throughout the process. These guys are great! I hate getting dental work done and when it became necessary for me to have an extraction and implant my dentist sent me to Dr. Murphy and his team. The experience has been amazingly positive! They are professional and relational at the same time. They have seen to my comfort from the moment I've walked in to the moment I have left. They have answered all my many questions and were responsive to my needs after the procedure. To top it off -- with their sedation methods I have never felt even a modicum of pain or discomfort. These guys are great!
