I have lived in this area for most of my life, including North Ogden, Brigham City, and Pleasant View.I served a two-year mission for my church in Spain where I furthered my proficiency in the Spanish language.I attended both Brigham Young University and Utah State University.I then attended dental school in Portland, Oregon where I graduated with high honors.
I have been involved with many dental organizations.I have served as a representative for Weber County on the House of Delegates to the Utah Dental Association, President of the Ogden Academy of Dentists Study Club, member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy service organization, and as an Executive Board member of the Academy of LDS Dentists.I am a member of the Weber District Dental Society, Utah Dental Association, and American Dental Association.
My wife and our five children enjoy many activities together.Our days are full of soccer, baseball, volleyball, and basketball. The evenings are filled with art projects, piano recitals, and singing performances.On occasion, I enjoy personal pastimes including fly fishing, hiking, and sports.Most of my time, however, is spent in service to others.I am actively involved in church, community organizations, and the dental practice.
My father is a family physician, and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps in the medical field, where I could serve and help people.I attended Brigham Young University for my undergraduate studies, and then went to Las Vegas for dental school. I graduated cum laude from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine.I am a member of the American Dental Association, Utah Dental Association, Weber District Dental Society, and the Academy of LDS Dentists.I served as a missionary in Caracas, Venezuela, and speak Spanish fluently.

Capener and Matthews is quite literally the best dental office I've ever been to. It is bright, immaculately clean, and welcoming. I was immediately greeted by the receptionist when I walked in, and they had all of the paperwork I had done online from the night before. (Takes 5 minutes and can be completed with a link via text.) I only had to wait about 5 minutes before my hygienist Kristine came to get me. Kristine was so thorough with my cleaning, and incredibly accommodating. She asked me to tell her if I was uncomfortable, needed more or less rinses, etc. She was gentle, personable and warm, and actually cared to get to know me as a new patient. The interaction made me feel like I had been going there for years. Dr. Capener was professional and efficient. I also visited here on a different occasion, when my boyfriend had his teeth cleaned. His hygienist was extraordinary as well. I will absolutely never visit any other dental offices again. Thank you to Kristine and the rest of the dental office for making my experience here an outstanding one.

I lost a crown and they got me in fast. Whole staff was super friendly. Got things taken care and of and helped me understand options to prevent future issues. I was a new patient and will definitely continue to go back.

Excellent! I was impressed with their kindness and patience. Being a new patient they thoroughly explained every procedure in detail in terms that I could easily understand. I felt comfortable and at ease during my procedures. I would highly recommend Dr. Capener and his wonderful efficient staff. Definitely 5 stars.
