Born in Peru, Dr. Cortez came to the United States when she was 18 years old with a goal to pursue her education. With two athletic scholarships from MDCC, she did just that. Dr. Cortez obtained her undergraduate in Biology and her degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery from theUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time in dental school, she volunteered in various dental organizations designed to help the community around Chapel Hill. Once she finished dental school, she moved to the Wilmington area where she met her husband, George. Dr. Cortez, her husband, and their two children, Christian and Sebastian, currently live in Ogden along with their two dogs, Princess and Shane. They are excited to call Wilmington their home and are happy to be raising their family here! Dr. Cortez has won best dentists awards for several years in a row for the quality of care she provides.

I went to Cape Fear Smiles after moving from DC and not seeing a dentist for almost 2 years. Needless to say, I was very nervous but the people were so warm and welcoming that I actually enjoyed my visit. Everyone from the front desk staff to the dental assistant greeted me with a smile. The exam was very thorough but gentle. Dr. Cortez explained the results of the exam and provided me with a realistic treatment plan. My Hygienist Janet was meticulous and so skilled I hardly felt the cleaning. All my fears were put to rest and I am thrilled to have found my new dental family.

My experience with Cape Fear Smiles is always the same. I am treated with care, respect and professionalism. I just love Beth, she always cleans my teeth and she's friendly, thorough and cares about her clients. She always make you feel at ease and comfortable for your entire visit! Staff is super friendly (love the new ortho hygienist, Beth). Beth is nice with those tools. Facility is nice and clean. My family and I have been coming here for over 5 years now and we love it!

I had a dental emergency and I visited your clinic for the first time, the attention was good and they helped me with what I needed. The clinic in general, everything is very clean, the customer service is very good and although I did not have the opportunity to meet Dr. Norma, she has been a support in my process, today Dr. Alex and assistant Janet were kind, understanding and managed to take away my pain. Staff- Calling first time for appointment. They scheduled for the wrong service and I have to cancelled and re schedule, second time they call to confirmed for the wrong service again and they change their mind saying that dentist won't be able to do just x rays and nothing else because the appointment was for 4 o'clock then, I te schedule again, next call from the office they want it to cancel because the higiene doctor won't be there because she has a back surgery. Really, I asked for an appointment because my husband is in pain, 3 times with wrong service, finally we git the appointment set up for today and they want us to charge $50 for cancelation. I refused and left, they make mistakes and want us to paid for their mistake. Is not fair..

First off I want to say the front desk and the dental assistant who helped me were FANTASTIC!!Very friendly and helpful. With that being said, I went for a problem visit. I had a crown that had come off about 6 months prior and there were 2 root tips that needed to be pulled. First thing out of the doctor's mouth was I had highly neglected my mouth and I needed all of the remaining teeth I have pulled and wanted to know if I wanted to schedule a consultation for implants since bottom plates flopped around. When I said no, he told the assistant to schedule me to come back for a simple extraction on the tooth I was having problems with and to finish my antibiotics I had been taking for 5 days and Ibuprofen. Saw him for a total of 5 minutes. Very rude. Will never go back

Great dentist office. Surprised at the level of technology since I don't go regularly. Helped me understand my long term/short term care plan after damaging a couple of teeth. Tricia, the Hygienist, Dr Hicks and the rest of the staff were great.

This is my second time visiting Tricia as my dental hygienist. She's thorough, personable and makes the whole experience lovely. The office is so nice and clean and now they offer comfort options like lavender towels, weight blankets, etc.
