Education Dr. Amy Fugate graduated from the University of Connecticut with a major in Pathobiology and a minor in molecular and cellular biology. Her interest in dentistry and kids started after working for 8 years in an orthodontic practice in her hometown through high school and college.
Dr. Fugate earned her D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Her love for treating children led her to complete a two-year residency in pediatrics at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, receiving her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies.
Professional Since completing her specialty training, Dr. Fugate has been splitting her time between multiple positions. She holds privileges at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Boston where she provides comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care services in an operating room setting for infants, children, adolescents, and young special needs adults with complex dental, medical, developmental, and behavioral issues. This allows Dr. Fugate to effectively and safely treat those patients who have difficulty undergoing dental treatment in the usual manner.
She also holds privileges at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Providence, where she is an attending dentist who oversees and instructs pediatric dental residents treating children in an operating room setting.
Dr. Fugate splits her time between private practice and working with schools throughout Massachusetts, including Cape Cod, providing much needed dental care and instruction to children who do not have a dental home.
In January 2015, Dr. Fugate opened the doors of Cape Cod Pediatric Dentistry, a state-of-the-art dental facility to provide the children of Cape Cod and the Islands with the highest quality dental care.
Dr. Fugates Professional Affiliations include: American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and Cape Cod District Dental Society.
Personal Born in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Dr. Fugate and her family moved to Warwick, Rhode Island at a young age. Growing up in Coastal New England made the decision to open her practice on Cape Cod an easy one. Also, while at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Fugate met her future husband, Dr. Andrew Nelson, who is a native Cape Codder. After marrying in 2012, Dr. Fugate and her husband lived in Franklin, Massachusetts for two years before deciding to settle on Cape Cod. Dr. Fugate and her husband enjoy spending their free time biking, kayaking, cooking, and most of all, spending time with their three miniature dachshunds. They are more than excited to become a part of the Cape Cod community!

The Dr and staff were great with my 4 year old son who needs quite a bit of work done. The Dr was very clear about her treatment plan and answered any questions I had. Beautiful Office, up to date technology, and it's super clean!

Dr. Amy Fugate of Cape Cod Pediatric Dentistry is hands down the absolute best pediatric dentist! Dr. Fugate is an incredible dentist, she is both highly skilled and so warm and gentle with kids. She and her staff are dedicated to making sure kids have a positive experience and make sure they feel totally comfortable the entire time. The hygienist who helps her is also very kind and gentle. The office space is beautiful and welcoming, and is designed with lots of cool features for kids, like a mini movie theater area in the waiting room, tv screens above the chairs for kids to watch when they get their teeth cleaned, and great prizes kids can pick out after their appointment. All of this makes going to the dentist fun- my kids honestly always say, 'I love the dentist!' whenever they go for a cleaning and ask when they get to go again! My son was born with weakened molars and needed some dental work that required anesthesia when he was 3. I was incredibly nervous about the anesthesia but Dr. Fugate always listened to all my questions and made me feel so much better. She has a wonderful pediatric anesthesiologist who comes to her office so the kids are comfortable in a familiar setting. She did an amazing job placing stainless steel crowns and extracting a tooth which healed very quickly. She is honestly the only dentist I would trust with a dental procedure for my kids and I feel so lucky to have her as their dentist!

Dr.Amy and her staff are the best group of professionals I've encountered. From the moment you check in you know they truly care about each patient as individuals not just as another set of teeth to clean and look at and bill for. Their warm and inviting yet professional demeanor gives their child patients and their parents a feeling of comfort in an unfamiliar setting which is so extremely important when giving your child their first impression of the dentist. It's a first impression that will last throughout the lives of the children in regards to dental health. Every concern is addressed immediately and thoroughly and parents opinions on treatments and their general questions matter. As they realize we know our children best and together we can find the best route to ensure general dental health is maintained and any dental issues that can arise are fixed with the individual child's best interest being of upmost importance. It's great to have all smiles on the way out and my child excited about going to the dentist. You know you've made an excellent choice choosing this office by the positive reaction of your child and feeling of content you get knowing that you've put your child's health in great hands. Having older children that have been to other dentists, there is no comparison. Cape cod pediatric dentistry is the very best place!

It was my first time bringing my two and a half year old and the staff was so amazing! The atmosphere is very kid friendly and my daughter was at complete ease which made me feel relieved. I would highly recommend!

Just has my sons first visit today- 100% recommend! The office is beautiful and clean, they play movies for the kiddos ( both in waiting room and while in the chair) Dr.Amy was so nice and made my 3yo feel so comfortable.. he actually said he had fun!

I honestly cannot say enough about Dr. Fugate and her team. Everyone at that office is awesome. My son JUST had 7 teeth pulled and I was terrified, I went to Dr. Fugate as a second opinion based on the reviews I'd read and she did not disappoint. She made me feel so comfortable and honestly the whole process has been so great and easy. If you're considering a dentist, seriously don't waste your time looking any further. Just go to Dr. Fugate because she is amazing!!

Man i guess I'm glad this place is there but i just left their office ( after spending many thousands this year) and for a 5 minute consultation we were charged $184. no x-rays, nothing like that- a 2 minute exam and a 2 minute conversation. look around at all the beautiful decoration in that office. it didn't come from nowhere. The staff is nice and amy is great but holy smokes.

Dr Amy is the best! My daughter is actually happy when we have to take her to the dentist! The whole office staff is wonderful and friendly, they take time to listen to kids, and everything is designed to help the pediatric patients feel comfortable in the space. Once my kiddo starts watching the movie on the overhead TV, I'm not sure she even notices the hygienist taking care of a cleaning. It's a wonderful experience there from start to finish.

I am a young patient and doctor Fugate has been my dentist for the past 3 or 4 years. I am always looking forward to my appointments and the whole staff has made every visit so enjoyable making conversations, watching movies, being so gentle in my mouth, and just being in such a happy environment is such a pleasure. Dr. Amy is amazing! We've seen a lot of pediatric dentists for my son's teeth and Dr. Amy is by far the most patient, kind, soft spoken dentist we've met. She has cute little dentist phrases to put kids at ease and encourage them to open their mouths and show her their teeth. She explains everything so clearly and was the first dentist to offer some suggestions on additional ways to keep my son's teeth healthy. Her receptionist is lovely and so responsive. And her office is beautiful! My son wanted his bedroom to look like Dr. Amy's office. She is on point in every way and took the most frightened child, who had massive dental issues and helped to give him happy, healthy teeth! I highly recommend booking your appointment with Dr. Amy today!!!

I am so happy that we were referred to CCPD. They were very kind and very gentle. It was my 3 year olds first time and he can be a bit nervous in new places. They office is set up to make kids comfortable. Would recommend to anyone!
