Dr. Sam Delahunty grew up in the suburbs of Salt Lake City in a family of eight boys. Growing up in sixth position, Sam spent much of his formative years competing in his favorite sport, collegiate wrestling. He attended Alta High School, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska.
Dr. Delahunty appreciates providing his patients with sound and relevant dental care. He was selected to participate in a prestigious hospital residency with specific training focused on complex full mouth rehabilitation including root canaland dental implant restorations. He maintains professional affiliations with the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Dental Association, the Utah Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists.
Dr. Delahunty is married to his greatest friend and high school sweetheart. Together they have a baby boy and an energetic Bishcon Frise puppy named Dexter. When Sam is not busy enjoying his dental practice he enjoys traveling with his wife, dining out, and an occasional golf outing with his brothers.
I like assisting the patient in gaining self confidence through replacing missing and broken teeth with esthetic and functional implant dentistry. The experience of losing a tooth is one that deeply affects the life of a person. If I can play a small role in restoring a patient to a happy and healthy smile then I have achieved the pinnacle of why I studied and trained as an implant dentist in the first place. With our state of the art 3D imaging and digital impression system we can replace a missing tooth with an implant and crown in as little as one hour. Additionally, for the patient that needs multiple teeth replaced, we can plan and execute similar treatments that will have the patient functioning in no time at all. I enjoy the ability to bridge the confidence gap for a patient who has suffered through tooth pain and loss.

I came here to do a special implant and crown which was done nicely but they only did one of my front teeth. So now one front tooth is nice and white and the other is not. The Dr should've known that you always crown the front 2 teeth. Now I'll have to get my other tooth done but most likely will be a different shade. Something to note..

I truly cannot thank the staff and Dr. Delahunty enough. I had a dental emergency while here for an internship, and they were able to squeeze me in the very next day. Everyone was truly as kind as can be, and the quality of the dental work was fantastic!

I have had crowns in the near past and the experience was awful. I was so anxious to have a crown replaced and it was so much better than I expected. It is so much easier without all the cold goo and another appointment for a crown. It is all done in one visit. Would recommend!!!

I have struggled with dental anxiety for as long as I can remember, and as I result I had not been to the dentist in years. Recent situations with my oral health led me to Canyon Rim Dental. I can truthfully say this was the best dental experience I have had. The staff is warm and welcoming. The hygienist took the time to get me comfortable and to withhold any judgment about my oral health or the struggles I have had with me anxiety. She guided me through each step of the cleaning and descaling process, and cared about my well being the entire appointment. Dr. Delahunty was honest and thorough in his examination, and provided me with a great sense of overall comfort and satisfaction about the path to my dental health going forward.

Dr. Sam and the team are amazing!! Throughout life I have had numerous issues and bad experiences with Dentists as I am sure everyone has...until now. The entire team goes above and beyond to take care of their patients. Whether it is the tooth emergency I had yesterday which was taken care of with in minutes or my tedious travel schedule they have always worked around. Above all they have always made sure my happiness and comfort came first. I no longer dread or fear the dentist and I will never go to another dentist as long as I live in Salt Lake!
